  • Survivor fall 2018

They are already advertising this fall season! I wonder if that is because they had low ratings for the spring version?
"David vs Goliath".....the "haves" vs "the have-nots ".....intriguing. Rich vs poor? Smart vs not-so-smart?
Anyway, I will check it out and see if they have done a switch up or corrected some of the things the fans did not like,
    like hidden immunity idols.

Anyone watching this year? I’m rewatching the premiere now, because my cable was acting up earlier. I don’t have a favorite to win yet, but I’m really liking the “David” in the robot shirt so far, haven’t learned names yet. Felt bad Pat, awful way to go out!

I taped it because I cannot take the commercials. Will give my opinion tonite.

Had to watch the 90 minutes in two segments. I really thought they would refresh the show with NO hidden immunity idols this time around.
I think that lends immunity to people who don't always deserve to win.
I think I won't be truly hooked until about 5 or six contestants get the boot. I will stick with it, but only on Fast Forward.

One of my favourite shows. Have watched every season. Interesting study in huma behaviour even with the production element and edit manipulation. The challenges are brilliant.

I like "Survivor" and so far, I'm enjoying the theme this time around. I've watched the show since Season 1 and the one thing I don't like is how many HII's (Hidden Immunity Idols) are in play. I'd be fine with having 2 before the merge and 2 after the merge and that's it but they have what seems like 298 of them every season now. Players who've watched all these years know exactly where to look for them and sometimes it seems like they're practically laying out in the open on a path! While it's entertaining to see someone get voted out with 1 or more HII's in their possession, for me it takes away from the overall strategy of the game. And this season they're doing some sort of "new" Idol Nullifier (IN) but unless I heard Jeff incorrectly when he was explaining it, the way it works makes no sense to me. I thought he said that the person with the IN needs to know who is going to play an HII at Tribal Council and has to play the IN before the voting begins. What good would it do for someone to play the IN before everyone votes because the person who was going to play the HII can just not play it and the IN becomes worthless. Like I said, I might have heard it wrong but whatever the case, I'm really over all of these idols being found.

Yes. I think people should win on personal merit--not on how many idols they find.

This season I find myself Fast Forwarding through all of the conspiracies and petty negotiating of the contestants. One of the most irritating things is the constant
rain, day and night. They did a challenge in a thunderstorm, which is dangerous. The southern fellow keeps calling another character "Mason-Dixon" and I really don't get that other than
it refers to the invisible line between the north and the traditional southern states. Quite a bit of hen-pecking and sniping going on. I hope things improve after the mix-up of tribes
        this week.

Same here, Ruby. My favorite part of "Survivor" has always been the challenges. The constant whispering to people and making alliances with everyone but then betraying one or more of those people just gives me a headache. Over the years, I've learned that the person whose name comes up the most as definitely being voted out at that night's Tribal Council is 99% assured of staying in the game. And I fully agree that having them do a challenge when it was pouring down rain was just stupid... couldn't they have waited until the next day?

I thought that guy voted out was rather amusing.

Well, that didn't take long. We've already got a player with 2 idols. Hopefully this player will get cocky about it and his/her fate will be sealed. For the person voted out at the October 24th Tribal, it wasn't for bad play but for a horrible attitude that rubbed everyone the wrong way. I wouldn't mind seeing the same thing happen to the 2-idol player.

I have lost interest in this show. Did not think it was possible. My two main dislikes, are the hidden idols, and the psychoanalysis sessions during the tribal councils.
Also the dirty back-biting and plotting against members. I hope it improves drastically.

That's just the way the show is now and I've gotten to the point where I just change the channel until they actually start voting. I love the Reward and Immunity Challenges but over the years, I've learned to pretty much tune out the rest of the show because like I said in an earlier post, the person whose name gets mentioned the most for being voted out rarely ends up leaving.

I like the backstabbing, and I like seeing people trying to play hard but ultimately shooting themselves in the feet, haha.

But I agree about hidden immunity idols. There are way too much and they need to stop hiding 89347294723 of them for people to find. Dan having two of them right now is so stupid.

However I am really liking David vs Goliath. There is a lot of unpredictability and I am enjoying how the alliances are so up in the air from episode to episode. In the last season, Ghost Island, people stuck to their alliance very loyally and it made for an extremely BORING season IMO. I like this one much better,

Glad someone is getting pleasure from it. I'm feeling vanilla flavored.

On Thanksgiving, they had a Survivor " Best of the Reunions" marathon, where I live. Odd. I wondered if they tried to jog people's memories about great past shows
                due to poor ratings.

I feel like I'm the only one here still watching and enjoying this show on here. I think this season has been great. Lots of fun to watch people, plenty of tribal drama, moments that have had me laughing out loud, or shouting at the tv.

I'm still watching but like I mentioned in an earlier post, I find the endless pre-Tribal talking and scheming to be pointless because it rarely pans out the way the editing leads us to believe it will. I have a favorite that I'm rooting for and am really hoping that he/she at least makes the Final 3 but will preferably be named Sole Survivor this season.

Sadly, the person I was rooting for (Davie) didn't win but of the last 6 left, I'm glad that Nick won. With the Final 3 being who they were, it was a no-brainer for me to pull like crazy for Nick since I never liked Angelina from the jump and while I know it's wrong of me to think this way, I have an aversion to seeing someone like Mike (a filmmaker who has a foothold in show business and probably has enough money to take care of himself already) win even more. All in all, it was a pretty good season. I didn't stick around to watch the reunion (I've found them to be boring and pointless in the past so I just ignore them now) so I also didn't see what the next season's theme is going to be. I actually wish they'd ditch the themes altogether and just have about 30 regular people picked at random to be on the show (the way they used to do it in the beginning).

I enjoyed this season of Survivor, but I was rooting for Mike to win. I think with his play, he deserved to. Though Christian was my choice from the get-go. After he got voted out last week, I really thought one of the women would win, but I am so glad Angelina did not win and notice that she did NOT get one vote from the jury. Ha ha. I am not unhappy about Nick winning, I just thought Mike played a better game.
