    The Haunting of Hill House

Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.

Starring: Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton
This series will start on October 12th on Netflix and it's just up my alley. There are several clips previewing it.

    Correction: I believe it's a movie not a series.

nope, you were right the first time, the netflix thing is a series. there was a couple of movies made of the original story by shirley jackson, the 1963 version is the best. can't wait!

well. i watched the first episode and was so angry at the story changes! BUT. then i remembered that i also reacted like that to the movie version of" the shining", which is now one of my fave movies, lol! so i sat myself down and disassociated with the book and the '63 movie, and watched episode one again.
THIS time with the mental mindset that i was seeing something entirely new to me, and i LOVED it! i'm hooked too! i'm losing hulu as of the 20th, so right now i'm binging over there to finish sleepy hollow and light as a feather before thursday, then i'll get back to this one.
we are planning to move in the next few months, so i'm stashing cash for a moving truck, hence my suspending hulu for awhile. it's REALLY WEIRD to be househunting after 22 years, things sure have changed!

This show is CRAZY. It was so scary. As a GH fan, I was happy to see 'Mayor Lomax' in the opening scene. She was able to deliver some scary words.

What I liked about this episode was that there wasn't blood or gore. It was just old fashioned psychological scariness. I find this so much scarier than if an ax murderer is around the corner. You feel safe because this isn't real, and you could have good fun with the show. I am a sucker for ghost stories.

Best with your move, mamabarri !

thank you sweetheart! right now i'm trying to figure out WHY i have to apply to live somewhere and why i have to PAY THEM to apply, lol!
i'm totally with you there, pretty sure our miss P is too. i am okay with guts& gore when it's NECESSARY for the storyline, but i detest slasher/torture porn, as my hubby calls it. i watch those ONLY to pick up new techniques for my SFX work...drives some of my friends crazy, lol! * let me qualify, except for killing zombies, THAT'S different, lol!*
i'm hoping that even though nell is supposed to be dead, her ghost will remain a regular character, i like that actress, need to see what else she's been in. the guy who plays stephen reminds me SO much of harlan ellison, it's creepy!

I have never been a fan of the scary movie genre but this show was so much more than that. IMO so much better than any American Horror Story season. (that is no dis on AHS I do like a majority of their seasons) but this was just so freakin' good!

Yes, although this is different than AHS IMO. While AHS deals with occult, witches etc., The Haunting deals with the unseen, special gifts and ghosts. Great story telling.

Yes the acting was great. Really impressed with the kids. Episode 6 was a continuous shot. Super impressed the kids pulled that off. Did you guys notice the hidden ghosts in the background? I knew they were there but never saw one

I'm holding back because I saw all the episodes and like where the script took us. However, I'm not going to comment until you've all see the entire season.
