  • The Rain (reflective and with spoilers after watching season 1)

This show was quite a ride. The premise was a lot of fun. Most of the series was very good. Do not read on if you have not yet seen the entire Season 1 and do not like spoilers.

I could have done without the episode patterned after Shirley Jackson's The Lottery. I actually liked the start a lot. The shower scene was adorable. I just really hated the big secret.

My other thought was of all the survivors in all the world, did all but this one group have to be evil? Couldn't they come across any other nice people?

Other than that, I thought the acting was great, especially Simone. I liked the chemistry between all the characters.

I hope that this gets picked up for Season 2, because I'd like to see more of the survivor's story. I just hope that they could find some good friends out there and that S2 isn't quite as dark and is more about rebuilding.

It's on Netflix and is pretty cool. Some people were bored with the first episode. I happened to like it, and you need to see it to understand the rest of the episodes. There are only about 8 episodes in total. Just work through it and keep going.

my hubby is watching it now, i've been crazy busy with my catering business, sorry. he says it's pretty good so far( i think he's on episode 3?), and he likes that it doesn't move superfast.

okay, so i've just finished watching the last episode. i thought it was an alright show until got to the last episode, although i didn't much like patrick.
i was okay with the plotholes until that last episode, when i could have driven through them in backhoe! ESPECIALLY the whole thing with rasmus being contagious all of a sudden. i had already figured out he was a carrier and figured it was his sperm that killed beatrice. but the others should be dead too, since they've touched his blood, stuff like that.
if they renew, i'll give the second season a shot, and thank you for alerting me to the show!

I'm glad that we're writing. I must have daydreamed throughout that. I didn't pick up on Rasmus being contagious. I had left believing that he was immune to the dog's lick. It doesn't make sense that the rest of the group isn't dead with all the contact they had.

I was so annoyed at the father's willingness to sacrifice his son to be able to learn more about immunity so that he could weaponize the illness. How many people were even left that they needed weaponization. Maybe overseas. The father seemed to really try to save his family, and even told others at the party to go home and stay inside, so he seemed to care for his family. I expected more of a reaction when learning that his wife died.

He was some dog, not returning for his family and letting them fend for themselves.

oh yeah, daddy dearest needs to FRY! see, this is why i like the boards here, we all tell what we saw and how we interpreted it, and so if you miss something, i catch it, and viceversa. and we help each other " get it" sometimes, like my discussion with miss P about castle rock.
i think i'm going to watch through this again in a few weeks, just to see what i didn't catch the first time around.

I watched the first and last shows again. There was so much in the first episode that I didn't pick up on because I was so engaged in the sibling relationship. You are definitely right. Rasmus was transmitting the disease. I'm not sure whether their words that he carries the disease rather than he is a carrier for the disease makes a difference. I have a feeling that the others are alive because they didn't share body fluids with Rasmus. When Daddy Dearest said that it was airborn, I thought that he said that simply to separate everyone from his children, but I really didn't understand that. I'm glad that I have you to talk this over with, Mamabarri.

back atcha! it really does help when you're watching a show with such intense plotlines and relationships, you miss so much because there's so much going on. so, my new friend, what are we onto next? i'm thinking " the innocents" could be pretty good?

hi believe! well, i was NOT impressed with the innocents, at least the first 2 episodes anyway. BUT, while bouncing round netflix, i discovered there's going to be a 10 episode series of" the haunting of hell house" , one of my all time fave movies AND novellas. are you familiar with it at all? it was written by richard matheson.

I've been waiting to try it again. I tried to get into the first, but it was really slow moving. I watch British series so that doesn't always bother me, but I wasn't hooked.

I heard about Hell House! I've seen two of those movings. I think that Linda Day George from the old Mission Impossible was in one. It was really fun. Richard Matheson wrote some great short stories. He wrote many of the scripts for Twilight Zone. I will try that when I find it!

good lord, i am an IDIOT! i had the wrong movie& story, lol! our miss P has a new thread up about the REAL show, which is a shirley jackson story, and the 1963 movie as excellent, so this should be interesting. who knows, maybe i'm psychic and we'll see the hell house miniseries in the future, lol!
i'm also a fan of british stuff, it's almost always better written, and has the kind of detail i like. penny dreadful was FABU, as was jonathan strange& mr. norrell. i have a HUGE collection of old british anthology shows from the 60's& 70's, all one or 2 seasons only, horror, scifi and suspense stuff. i also own all seasons of roald dahl's tales of the unexpected, i love his writing!
now, if you like kid stuff at all, check out" creeped out" , it's an anthology series, i think it's british, very heavy on psychological suspense and teaching kids about consequences.
