I miss Jabot

I know they've cut down on sets but I really miss seeing people at actual work- especially Jabot. It seems like every scene switches between Grand Phoenix, Society and Crimson Lights. We have all these major moguls who cannot say the word CEO enough but they aren't ever at work. This is especially true of Jabot. Several characters work there yet we never see it. The big Hamilton-Winters/ Chancellor merger happened in Devon's living room...?
I also think it makes the attempt at any corporate storyline to fall flat because we only ever see people eating or drinking.
Give us a good corporation vs. corporation storyline AT THOSE CORPORATIONS!

I agree with you OP, I feel like the Chancellor/Winters merger deserves an actual office, they could have used Devon’s condo space and turned it into executive offices, we really don’t need to see Devon’s Condo for business conversations or for story. It was needed for the baby story but since that story is on the back burner they should change that set into office spaces, especially since the story is focused on business.

I totally agree! When have we EVER seen "Boss Lady" Mariah do a lick of work? Not that she has any experience, college degree, work history relevant to marketing, to offer. She was made head of marketing on a whim by Kyle, and actually approved by Jack. How preposterous! Just a few years ago she was running around with a cult, gaslighting Sharon, and making people miserable. Now head of marketing for an international cosmetics company, again, never seen in an office, and living in a 300 square foot apartment adjacent to a coffee shop. Oy...

I totally agree. I miss Jabot a lot and it is sad that we lost so many sets. I still didn't get over the fact that we do not have the Athletic club anymore. The place that was classic Y&R and fit the show so much. And for what? Society? A place that is either a restaurant or a dance club? I'm also not a fan of the Grand Phoenix lobby. It's silly that people get to discuss their private lives there. I understand that the budget has drastically decreased but I'm some sets just do not fit and should be changed.

I think Jabot will soon return. PB said after Kyle left there was no reason to even put the set up. Now that Kyle is back, once it is determined he is staying in town, I imagine Jabot will return, especially if Jabot also buys Marchetti so Summer will have a place to work. I would imagine Allie will end up there too. And we could finally see Mariah at work too. We finally saw the old ChanceComm office again so it appears Lily and Billy finally have an office again and I expect Devon and Nate will be shown there too. They should also create some sort of office there for them. What I don't think they should do is get rid of Devon's condo, especially when they just gave one to Nate and Elena. What I really think they need is some sort of an office for New Hope with both Nick and Noah working there. Nick neither has a home or office.

Yep, I bet the old sets are coming back since we've now seen the new/old ChanceComm/HW office come back.

Of course with all this talk of Summer starting a new fashion house in GC, we will no doubt see more of Jabot and I hope it's not just the conference room. I'm guessing Jack's office will be back soon now that Kyle and Summer are back working from Genoa City.

I totally agree! How do all of these people (with all their fancy titles) ever get any work accomplished? They're either getting coffee from Crimson Lights, eating or sitting at the bar at Society, or lounging in the lobby at the Grand Phoenix! Victoria always talks about having too much work to get done, and I always think.....Well, if you'd sit at your desk for an extended period of time (maybe a few hours at a time), you would be able to get that work done!

Victoria is one character that they actually show working at her desk. I hope they bring the Jabot sets back since Summer & Kyle are back and Ally is a chemical engineer, she could work for Ashley at Jabot.

I miss Jack's office that had that cool window.

They could get rid of Lily & Billy's condo set, as well as the Chancellor one (for a while) & give Summer/ crazy Chelsea /Devon have workplaces to go to.

I agree. I think now that Summer and Kyle are back, and with Allie being brought onto the canvas, we'll see Jabot more. I guess the writers have a hard time justifying the usage of a set when only one character is an employee.

It's funny, today when Victoria was talking about running into Ashland, I wanted to yell, "Isn't there a Starbucks and other restaurants you can go to?!
And when I think about how for years Jack was obsessed with being CEO of Jabot and now he barely mentions it. I hope now that Allie is in GC, he will hire her and she & Ashley will work together. They should ditch Lily & Billy's set and show her office more. It's hard to take her seriously working from her sofa.

Silly me. Just when I thought I was seeing Victoria actually doing some work all she was doing was planning a spa vacation.

Sadly, Jabot seemed to have ended with John Abbott.

I could make an argument that the show ended with John Abbott (or the arrest of John Abbott, to be specific). No one has known what to do with the Abbotts for so long.

Well if Summer's idea works Jabot may be on again and add a little excitiment to the show.
It did bring more glamour and fashion. I think we need Gloria too.

I saw this on Guiding Light. I wanted Y&R to be different, but no one seemed to care when it could have helped. Ratings do matter and now nothing can help this slow, painful decline. Corporate stories fall flat because there is (1) no substance to the stories and (2) there are no sets to have them play out.

I remember GL began doing a lot of outside scenes and the show went downhill completely at the end. I won’t say what ushered into its decline IMO but ATWT also bit the dust after the doing the same type pairing. The older crowd is what keeps soaps alive on daytime tv. Covid took a toll but the old shows that were rerun just made it plain how far YNR and Bold have gone away from their origins. The writing is nowhere near that of the oat on either show. I find it odd YNR is talking about fashion and cosmetics more than BNB which is supposed to revolve around fashion. We haven’t seen a fashion show in ages I guess because of lack of sets as you’ve stated .

GL started their decline years before by having 2 or 3 sets (like the beacon hotel being home to just about everyone). We screamed at the tv to make changes to the writing to help the ratings, but they never did. Just kept getting worse and worse.

And here we are today with Y&R…. Doing the same thing.

I remember watching GL one day and they were showing Reva and Josh's house....the last one they lived in together before Reva did a hostile takeover at Cross Creek (which should not have been hers to live in) and what was once a living room and a den as two separate rooms had had the wall knocked down and the house had shrunk....that, to me, was just as egregious as when the front door, at that same house, became an outward opening door just to facilitate Dinah getting hit in the belly and losing her baby, and then it was an inward opening door once again.....things like that REALLY bother me.

When they started doing exterior filming.....the 'hospital' with a drive up teller window was bad...police press conferences in a field of weeds was bad...using different sides of the same house to represent the Bauer house and Gus and Harley's house was bad....the Jessup Farm looked nothing like a farm at all....and the Spaulding 'Mansion' was reduced to one room with a balcony that had not existed before....and went to nowhere....it was pretty sad.....

I agree OP. I miss Jabot too. I miss seeing the chemist and Ashley working in the lab coming up with new product. Jabot is like Newman Enterprises and should be shown just as much as they show NE in my opinion. I agree that with Allie added to the show, that there is a big possibly that we will start seeing more of Jabot and the lab, also with Summer being back and her ideas of having Marketti be a part of Jabot, I think it's just a matter of time that Jabot will be back on screen again.
