Now that Rey is gone, I hope Sharon can finally be free and happy

WOW! It’s exhausting being a Sharon fan. She was on constant thin ice around her jealous husband Rey when he was alive. When she escaped to the hotel to see Adam she was so comfortable she fell asleep In his bed . She was relaxed and FREE. When she closed up the coffee house with Nick she was the same. Just comfortable and FREE. Whenever she was around Rey and his smug expression she had to conform.

Rey dies and again she is trapped into feeling sadness etc bc he is gone. Mariah mentions him. Faith etc it’s too much bc Sharon was never free with Rey it came with his conditions. Even if she hugged her kids he would sulk or give the side eye

My wish is end this Sharon in mourning your.
She is finally free and it’s time she lives her life and a life that doesn’t have a husband telling her what to do etc.

Free Sharon from the memory of Rey. He is gone and she can Relax.

Puhleez. Sharon gave Rey more than enough reasons to be jealous. She slept with Adam less than 24hrs of breaking up with Rey, she was creeping behind Rey's back meeting Adam at a motel, she constantly lied to Rey where Adam was concerned, she used her inexperienced as a therapist to be around Adam and got caught (via social media) in a lip lock with Adam. How the heck was Rey suppose to feel? I doubt any man would want to see his wife pining and running after another man who happened to be her ex. Don't make it seem like Sharon was innocent because she wasn't. Once Adam was out of Sharon's life, she and Rey had a good, happy, healthy relationship.

I TOTALLY agree w/ALL this!! Rey was a terrible husband/partner to Sharon. She wasn't "in" love w/him and should never have married him --and he should have left when Mia did, imo. I hope they don't try and yoke her up w/Nick, either. I agree w/you to let her be FREE. I'd rather watch her pouring coffee and interacting w/her children/GC patrons w/a contented smile on her beautiful face, until another story comes her way!

She seemed happy to me. Rey was a good husband to her.

Sharon is a therapist, who once work the crisis hotline, so if she was so trapped by her marriage to Rey then she certainly has the skills to spot the warning signs and take action to remove herself from a bad situation.

Rey only recently began to exhibit signs of jealousy or envy over Sharon’s family unit and it had more to do with Nick than the kids. Rey felt left out because the ex- husband was included in the family activities. And, it wasn’t just that but Nick always had to take the lead. I don’t know what Rey expected; he asked Nick to be his best man and practically invited Nick into the marriage.

As for Adam, there was a lot of inappropriate behavior going on from a married woman. Sharon did a lot to Rey that caused those feelings. Granted, Rey had the baggage of Mia and her affair with Arturo but Sharon and Rey started when he was still married.

I don’t understand the comments about Rey’s death. Is the OP saying that Sharon is faking her grief because everyone expects her to feel sadness? She is forced to grieve when she should be happy Rey is dead so she can move on?

Sharon was happy with Rey. She was in peace, she could see a calm and serene future with him, that's why she chose him over the excitement of Adam. She has had that before and it ended badly.
And Rey had the right to be jealous, considering all the Shadam interactions.
I wanted them to break up, too, but I understand Sharon's choice. And I think right now she's grievibg Rey, but she's also grieving the promise of a peaceful life that was taken away from her.

I agree with this post. Sharon gave Rey more than enough reasons to be jealous...but once Adam was out of her life, she looked happy and peaceful with Rey...I loved seeing them on their dinner dates and this is coming from a non-Sharon fan.

I find the topic header to be rather odd. What makes one think Sharon wasnt happy with Rey? The topic makes it sound as if she was being held captive or was in an abusive relationship. Totally not the case. I can agree that Sharon and Rey weren't a steamy couple or a couple that was always plotting, scheming or raising hell. They were just a normal, everyday couple. Guess that's not what we expect to see on a soap.

Now that Rey is out of the picture, I dont know if Sharon will have a s/l at all. The only thing I can see is the very predictable hook up with Nick... AGAIN, for the 10th time. Please spare me! Nick and Sharon are not any more dynamic or exciting than Sharon and Rey.

This is where Y&R is hurting. They have not planned for the future by bringing in new permanent chars. Some of these other soaps, if you stop watching for 6 months and go back, you dont even know who half the people are because the show has brought in so many new chars. I'm not saying I want Y&R to be a revolving door with new chars. That's just silly, but they should certainly bring in another family or two. It also seems that if they do introduce new chars, they turn out to be duds. I also am sick and tired of so many people clamoring for the return of "X", "Y", or "Z". What's wrong with new blood and developing new chars, giving them a backstory and then letting it unfold over time?

We all know why Sharon and Rey were dull, why Sharon will end up with Nick and why no new chars will be added to the cast. It's very sad.

I agree. Their marriage was hard to watch. I think that is shy she is in such a deep depression. She knew she was never 100% in love with him and his was a possessive love. That is why Chelsea was drawn to him. No criticism like with Sharon and he was more relaxed. Sharon was faithful later in relationship, but after what his first wife did, he never completed trusted her and it showed. He knew her history and could have never gotten involved.

I think Rey loved Sharon and Sharon loved Rey. It wasn't that deep but it was love.

I hope Sharon gets some happiness. Her last 3 relationships - Husband dies, Cheated on and cheated on.

THANK YOU..............However I have to disagree with one part...

When Sally came along Sharon was still jealous..

A little boy (Connor) had to tell his father he didn't like her nor wanted to see her.. She still didn't get it that the child knew that they could see any doctor.. Yet Sharon would creep up anyway knowing that child didn't care for her as he knew she was a problem.. It's like she had to be told by Adam to leave when Sally was speaking to Connor at the park.. Sharon came running all the time when Sally first aired.. She was STILL jealous of any new woman in Adam's life..

I always felt so bad for Rey and I did feel he could do better than Sharon.. He didn't deserve to be killed off.. He deserved to have a woman who was worthy of his love.. Rey deserved a woman who was only all about him not what Sharon offered..

OP, I agree with everything you said. Rey was also very boring and Sharon needs excitement in her life not some sourpuss who is always glaring and angry at everyone and everything. I like Nick but I don't want him with Sharon right now.

I think Sharon was "content" with Rey. I believe she loved him, but never with the same intensity that she loved Nick, Adam, or Dylan. Rey was a strong, steady partner for Sharon but I don't think he was ever in the running for "love of her life".

Free and happy = backburned, so I hope you get your wish.

However, Rey was a good husband. I'm not with this gaslighting BS, where we pretend that Sharon didn't give Rey ample reasons to feel insecure and jealous with her behavior towards Adam. As far as her not being happy, I do agree. She settled for Rey because he was the only man who wanted her at that time besides Adam. If Nick wanted her at that time, she would've instantly dropped Rey.

Yeah let’s go back to when she was sooo happy looking like a complete fool at the altar about to remarry Nick who’d just slept with Phyllis AGAIN. Let’s go back to when she was shacking up with Scottie and Lauren hated her …while he was cheating on her with ditz Abby. Let’s go back to her pining after Adam and squawking with another woman he’s currently in the sack with. Please. Rey was a good guy who lost the only firecracker lighting him up (Mia). Mia should have been kept and Tessa booted. Sharon broke her neck to get Rey and chose Rey over her Adam thirst when she got married and stay married finally….I mean she’s been with almost every dude except the black men in a certain age range. With her Possible three baby daddies for Faith that time, means she’s not some prize herself. The only way she gets a good juicy story is if she’s paired with Ashland.

All those instances you mentioned, Sharon was great in. She is loved by many men, and that is a complement on what a great woman she is. I must have missed her pinning for Adam while he was with Sally? I truly thought I saw Adam chase Sharon repeatedly and she consistently turned him down.

Sharon chose a boring life with Rey rather than give in to hot, passion with Adam. Still, there is always a man chasing after Sharon because like I said she is the one that all the men want.
