Question about Diane seeing Mariah

When Diane witnessed Mariah and Tessa's wedding, she didn't do a double take thinking M. looked just like Cassie. Wouldn't that have been a shock to her? I can't remember the history or the timing of Cassie's death vs. Diane being in GC.

Diane used to come and go. I am pretty sure that Cassie was dead when Diane returned as MW and before Mariah arrived. Diane may not have known who Mariah was but the presence of Nick and Sharon should have made her wonder the relationship. Diane was after Victor so she had to know a young Cassie.

Also didn’t Diane already run into Mariah though at Crimson Lights a few weeks back or so? Right after Rey’s accident? I thought it was discussed then how shocked Diane was at first to see Mariah

Yes, Diane, the hat and glasses made an appearance at CL but I thought Diane was more spooked by Mariah asking if she had been in there before. Diane said something about Sharon that promoted Mariah to say that. Diane was still trying to stay out of sight but it was odd that she goes to CL knowing that is the coffeehouse everyone uses.

I didn’t get the feeling Diane recognized Mariah. It’s likely the timeline the of these characters that the writers want viewers to forget.

Diane knew Cassie had died, she also knew Colleen had died (When she returned as MW). Diane said she has been keeping tabs on everyone via the internet while she was 'dead' so she would've known who Mariah is, if not for Mariah's career at GC Buzz then the fact that she is in a relationship with a pop star (Tessa).

That said, Mariah SHOULDN'T know what Diane looks like, but at least know of her (by virtue of being Kyle's mom).

I don't think it's unreasonable that Kyle might have at some point shown Mariah a picture of Diane.

OP I think you bring up a great point! Diane indeed should of been shocked to see Mariah at CL but she wasn't at all.

How did Diane know it wasn't Cassie? I didn't think Mariah was on the scene when Diane
was on. She didn't even have a question about Tessa and Mariah getting married. Diane
seems to take for granted everyone knows her and she knows all. Can't be so.

I don't think Diane has ever met Mariah until just recently. Although she may have known Cassie, it was probably as a little girl. She may have thought Mariah looked vaguely familiar, but probably not enough to suspect who she was. Then again, if she's been keeping up with all the goings-on in GC, maybe she already knew!

This. Diane has kept tabs on everyone. The Newman's are in the media anyway, and I am sure that the story got out that Ian Ward kidnapped one of Sharon's twin daughters at birth.

The Newmans are a popular wealthy family and even though Sharon isn't really connected to them anymore I'm sure stories about their lives have leaked on the news and internet over the years. I'll just assume Diane knew about Mariah through that.

Yeah, exactly. Diane was married to Victor when Cassie was a young child living with Shick and she was sleeping with Nick right before she "died" - I'm sure she was aware of his ongoing connection with Sharon even if at the time it wasn't being shown so much.
