I have to wonder if Phyllis didn’t feel threatened by Diane being around Jack so she kissed Jack out of that insecurity. She’s been so firm on them only being best friends and suddenly the kiss. If so, she’s using Jack to irritate Diane.

Phyllis reason for kissing Jack

I don’t think Phyllis is using Jack at all. I think she’s been in denial about her true feelings for Jack for months - way before Diane resurrected herself from the dead. Phyllis was afraid of hurting Jack again and he was afraid, too. She didn’t want to push their relationship any farther than he felt comfortable with at the time. Then Keemo died, Jack discovered he had a granddaughter, and Diane came back to haunt them. Phack have grown even closer since then. They trust each other even more and Phyllis has proven herself to be someone Jack can count on for unconditional love and support. Diane just gave Phyllis the wake up call she needed to show Jack how she truly feels about him before it’s too late.

I don’t Diane has any part of that kiss. If Phyllis rushed over just to kiss Jack then it would have been more obvious, like Phyllis kissing him as soon as Jack opened the door.
Diane coming back has opened the door to J/P spending even more time together but it was already moving in that direction. Phyllis was trying to keep Jack in the friends zone even after admitting she still loves him (and he loves her) because she was scared. This kiss has been building since Thanksgiving.

It's better than when they threw Phyllis back with Nick while he was lusting for Sharon or because Chelsea dumped him.
It is what it is.

The way I look at it is Phyllis hurt Jack deeply when she couldn’t see past her own indignation and anger over what Marco/Victor had done to her while Jack tried to be supportive of her but he was in need of some of her support and couldn’t get any for the equally horrendous things he went through.
For Phyllis I see her over riding need/motivation as “me, me, me” and only what She feels she wants to give. She is above all competitive and possessive and vengeful of things or relationships don’t go her way. She knows she’s likely to hurt Jack again, said so herself. That said a lot to me. She’s also super afraid of being abandoned - this time by one of the few who calls her a friend and whose friendship she cherishes. I think the timing of her conversation with Diane gave her time to think about Diane getting closer to Jack, which Diane just said might happen and which Jack has been open about letting her into his and Kyle’s life, and Phyllis let her anger once again get the best of her. Diane did make that comment that Phyllis was just Jack’s plus one for the event and that bothered Phyllis.
No doubt there has been deep feelings of love between Jack and Phyllis, so not ignoring that but I see Phyllis setting out Plan A on Diane—get her out of the hotel, out of sympathetic Jack’s life, and out of Kyle’s life using Summer to help do that for her. Still see Jack as her personal pawn against Diane who with Tara out of town us her new focus in life.Last edited by TunerEyes; May 18, 2022, 03:59 PM.

Diane has been pushing Phyllis’ buttons about Jack since she returned.
Diane can’t stand the idea that Jack and Phyllis still have a loving relationship.

I don’t know that Diane wants to rekindle anything with Jack at this point. I do think she cares most about re-establishing a relationship with Kyle. I also think she’s reacting to Phyllis thinking this is all Phyllis’ personal territory to claim and to insinuate her way into and it’s grating on her. She saw how Phyllis interjected herself into a conversation with Kyle and Summer just now and sure she sees the writing on the wall with Phyllis. Sees that Phyllis will try to use Summer to push Kyle away from Diane. I can only wonder how to read Diane’s facial expression in the hotel room after Phyllis went there to confront her some more after the wedding. The actress really makes Diane a complex and interesting character. Unlike Phyllis you don’t know what’s going on under that expression.

TunerEyes Diane has pretty much been allowing everyone to have their say as standard "oppo research:" One learns more when listening/observing rather than talking. She's gathered a lot of useful intel and was just waiting for the final piece: Kyle's wife, Summer. She got that today at the wedding partyI also don't believe that Diane has any romantic designs on Jack, other than to use to drive Phyllis outta her complete mind

Diane can’t stand the idea that Jack and Phyllis still have a loving relationship.Diane wants to make amends with Kyle and that is all I am seeing. Phyllis is bat you know what crazy and still holding on to what happened in the past. If Phyllis could have made it work with Nick that is where she would be and prefers to be. Jack is a typical back up because no one else wants her. Jack is a complete embarrassing idiot to want the woman who has hurt him the most and has embarrassed him the most

All of those statements Diane said are true. She knew from having been with them on numerous occasions already that Jack and Phyllis aren’t a couple. Jack is totally more open to seeing if Diane’s changed and if so willing to give her another chance. After following people's lives from a far, she likely knows some of what has happened between Jack and Phyllis and Nick in the past and thinks Jack would be crazy to get romantically involved with Phyllis again.

First of all this needs to be cleared up… Phyllis dumped Nick and gladly and willingly moved on to better things ? so let’s not act like nobody wants Phyllis as that’s far from the truth! Secondly , Diane is using the excuse of wanting to see her son to try to slither her way back into Jacks life… she’s so obviously transparent ? and desperate… stalking her son all over town and crashing a wedding she had no business to be at in the first place all in the name of trying to see her daughter in law… puhleeze…. Find a better excuse for you crazy tactics Diane! Jack had no use for Diane before she faked her death and he has even little use for her now that she’s come back ( as much as most wish she would’ve stayed dead). If coupes who hurt each other are never allowed to be together again then why are Nikki and Victor still together ? Also Sharon and Nick… talk about two people who have hurt each other more than anyone else and in the worst ways yet you have people wanting and hoping they get back together … Phyllis and Jacks history is nowhere as jaded or messed up as the previous couples I mentioned so I no doubt am sure they’ll find their way back to one another just as most soap couples do…

I guess my perspective is any grace that has been extended to Diane by Jack is solely for Kyle’s sake. Jack would not give Diane the time of day if Kyle’s feelings weren’t in play. Jack has confronted her numerous times and been very angry when doing so. Jack has taken, “it’s Kyle’s decision” approach. He has never tried to persuade him to give Diane a second chance.
I don’t see Jack being the one willing to give Diane a chance or the benefit of doubt. Jack wants Kyle to be happy but that doesn’t mean he has to like it.

Peter Bergman and Michelle Stafford have such natural chemistry and look so good together--I would love to see them get back together as a couple.
Gina T had that kind of chemistry with Jason Thompson when she played Phyllis.
And of course Phyllis is insecure! She knows how conniving Diane is and knows she has her eyes on Jack. At least, it's forcing Phyllis to admit her true feelings.
