The Wedding Made Me Feel Really Old.

I started watching Y&R 25 years ago when Nick and Sharon were a young married couple and now to see them at the wedding as the "older" generation watching all the young people dancing as they sat and watched really depressed me.

Nick was dancing. Jack and Phyllis were dancing, too. Everyone else, including Choe, Nate, Elena, Abby, Kevin. Nick danced with Faith, too. Nick was having fun, too, talking and getting into the spirit, I though. I can understand, Sharon, she was thinking of Rey and she obviously missed him and how Rey would have enjoyed attending the wedding and reception with her. Nick told Sharon, he knows what Sharon is thinking, and that she is thinking of Rey (at the wedding and reception) and Nick said, Rey is here with us, and also Cassie and he put his hand on Sharon's shoulder to offer comfort.

My point wasn't so much about the dancing but how it seems like only yesterday Nick and Sharon were the young couple and now they are the oldest people in the room (besides Phyllis & Jack).

I believe the Nick and Sharon characters first debuted as high school seniors, 18 and 19 years old, the year 1994. They married and were a family with Cassie and Noah for slightly over 10 years (in real time) and Cassie died in 2005. It has been 27 years since both characters debuted. Victor, Jack, Nikki, Jill, Tracy, Ashley, go way back to 1980's. Victor and Nikki are grand parents now. Noah, is a full grown adult now, and it is his time to give a grand child or make his parents, grand parents (but most likely it will be Mariah (Sharon's biological daughter who will either adopt or have a baby biologically). Or Summer/Kyle will make Nick a grand parent or grand father. I guess, just like in real life, the TV characters also grow older. Faith, Nick and Sharon's biological daughter is 18 years old (sorased with new actress), will be a college age young adult or going off to college, along with Neil's son, Moses. Jack's grand daughter just came to town (or G.C.) and Phyllis has a grand daughter, Lucy (Daniel's daughter). Ashley is also a grand mother now (Abby and Chance have a baby now). If Michael and Lauren's son, Fenmore marries and has a baby, then he makes his parents grandparents, too. I agree, though, time has flown by and it does feel like Sharon and Nick were in high school and still remember all the young crowd at Crimson Lights interacting and Victor and Nikki still young, too, with their children, Victoria and Nick. Victor (E.B.) are up there in age and looking great, though.

I’ve always been more interested in the characters and couples that are older than me. So it’s never really been a factor in my enjoying the show.
Hopefully they’ll keep the friendship of Sharon and Nick and both of them will have some really interesting stories coming up. Interesting and soapy! This daytime drama needs some drama regardless of what the characters ages are.

The wedding episode really brought a lot of joy to my soul seeing everyone having such an awesome time. I think at any age we all could use some fun in our lives. Being around fun events such as this wedding and even watching it on TV, is so positive and uplifting that it should bring feelings of joy, happiness and laughter to our soul not sadness and I mean you no disrespect OP. We don't always see or feel things the same way as others do so I get it. Most of those characters you were watching 25 years ago look so fantastic at their age, my goodness look at Phyllis she looks amazing for a woman in her 50's and she was having a great time like the youngster at the wedding.
It was nice to see all the positive posts on this forum after the wedding episode. I love when people are kind to one another, it's such a beautiful thing that's hard to put into words.

I took OP’s post to be more about how much time has passed since first watching the show, having grown up along with the young couples on the show and seen them have kids and get married themselves. Yep for some of us who first started watching soaps back in the 60s, a lot of time has gone by and you know you’ve aged along with the characters.

I am of the age where I can't believe younger people find the 70's and early 80's to be fun styles.

The years were fun to live through just not the clothing

Well the happy couple has no friends apparently.

Mostly family but don't see any outside the family. Not that there is anything
wrong. Even Faith and Moses don't get together with school friends.

I started watching Y&R on day one, before there was a Nick and Sharon or Victor and Nikki. But I only really got hooked when Sharon and Nick's love story began. Now I've watched for years and years and years...waiting for the day they are finally reunited. Unfortunately, that will likely mean the demise of the show. I really hope that they'll reunite them and give them a few years of happiness before that happens.

I understand how you feel. You live long enough these things are going to happen. It's sad but it's also a blessing you're alive to see these things.

They have yet to create a supercouple like Nicktor and Shick.
