"My nephew Noah" versus "Jack's granddaughter Allie"

Did that sound odd to anyone else when Abby said it? Does she call Kyle her cousin or Jack's son?

It was an introduction so Abby wanted to explain who Noah was in the family tree.

Allie is going to need a pen and paper to connect all the dots between the Abbotts and the Newmans.

Yeah I mean Abby is Noah’s aunt just as she’s Summers and Faiths so it makes sense he was introduced to Allie as such… but yeah seeing how many Abbott’s and Newman’s are connected she may get confused depending who’s doing the introduction

On soaps they seem to do that a lot for the viewers.

Family trees can get crazy on our shows.

I just thought it odd that she didn't introduce Allie as her cousin. Especially if we are trying to explain family ties.

Angeldar, thank you for the reply. I get so confused sometimes when it comes to who is related to who.

Actually, Angeldar, Abby is Allie's 1st cousin, once removed. They do not share a great-grandparent which would have made them 2nd cousins.

Yes they share a great grandparent, Dina's mother and father would be the great grandparent they share.
Jack and Ashley share Dina as a mother.
Kemo and Abby are first cousins
Allie and Abby are not in the same generation considered once removed
Allie and Dominic are in the same generation

That was... a lackluster introduction and a cringe-y first meeting between Ally and Noah. Noah is a 30-something man, and Ally is in her mid-20s. That was borderline high school awkwardness. Heck, even Faith and Moses weren't that awkward.

That said, I agree. Abby and Noah never refer to themselves as aunt/nephew.

No, I agree. But the thing is, Abby was never referred to as "Aunt Abby" by Noah, Summer (or Faith for that matter). Because of that, it was weird that Abby introduced Noah as such.

I also wish Abby was called out when she was mean girling Summer.

Mariah is 32 in real life and she is the same actress who grew up on the show, not aged. Noah was about 5 years younger..but ageed so maybe a couple of years younger. Keemo left town 25 years ago...and had Allie after that. I don't see a whole lot of age difference between Noah and Allie. Also, I have aunts and uncles who are near the same age as me...I will introduce them as such but I don't call them by that, only their first name ..no aunt and uncle. Too weird.

I guess we never really think of Noah as Summer's nephew because technically, he is several years older than she is. And of course, Mariah is supposed to several years olderthan Noah. Also, Mariah should be around 15 years older than Summer. I know all those ages get switched around constantly for storyline purposes but it's frustrating for those of us who've been watching the show for decades!

Maybe TPTB had Abby not state it so that a love match wouldn't sound icky? Allie is only Noah's ex-stepfather's granddaughter.

Mr.Sami_Brady …. I would LOVE if Fenn came back! Wasn’t ever a big fan myself of Eden but I could see the need for more female and males than just Abbott’s and Newman’s… I would actually love if Devon’s younger sister Ana came back … she had great potential imo !!

I'd hate for Sharon to be in the room with Allie and have to introduce all of the Newman men as her former husbands
including Victor. And her grandfather Jack as well. Allie would faint.

I don't see anything incetuous about it, not even borderline. There is no blood relation among any who have been in relationships or marriages. Even Billy and Ashley are brother and sister but not related at all and the same with Devon and Lily. It just makes things confusing.

Is there a possibility that they have a prior relationship? I was really hoping she was his London love interest ?

No possibility of a prior relationship. They clearly did not know each other.

Keemo was Abby’s 1st cousin (as is Kyle)….someone’s 1st cousin’s kid is their 1st cousin once removed. Noah was born before Abby but they changed it later. Noah & Abby are like honorary cousins…like sometimes people call their parent's cousins aunt or uncle. I don’t think Noah ever said “Aunt Abby” to her directly… The Newbott’s and the Abbman’s..they really intertwined!

Noah is Abby's nephew given that Noah's father is Abby's sister. So that relationship is correct. I just found it odd that she referenced him in that way because she never does....but then didn't also reference Allie's relationship to her.

To me, it made sense to explain the relationship to Allie. Allie doesn't know about Nick yet, so I get why she didn't say Noah was Nick's son. Since Noah knows Jack it made sense to me to say this is his granddaughter.

Yea, I don't know why she couldn't just say "my cousin, Allie." I introduce my cousin's kids as my cousins. I would never say, "my aunt's grandkids." Sometimes the dialogue on this show is ridiculous. They use bigger words than are needed and the writers go out of their way to avoid having the characters talk like normal people.

If she had said "my cousin Allie" then Noah still would have been in the dark about who Allie is. Allie came to the Abbott's through Jack, so why not let Noah know upfront that Allie is Jack's granddaughter?
