Local news in Cincy - re: the Delia story

It was just on the Cincinnati news that a babysitter was due in court - being charged in the death of a 7 year old girl. The sitter left the child in the car to go in a store and the child got out and was hit and killed by a car. Billy was never charged for his negligence. Only Adam got crucified for it. Shame on the writers.

I hated the ending to the Delia story. I wished Billy would have been held accountable. I hope this podcast leads to this story being revisited.

Yes Billy should have been charged.I wonder what he will say re Rey and Victoria.as she shouldn’t have been driving. Also none of her family went to see Sharon to offer condolences Victoria went to work as well as Nicky .Writers give these people a heart only Nick seems to have one.

I totally agree with you, billy has never taken responsibility for his part in Delia’s death, and neither has Chloe. Billy was more responsible than anyone. Adam did not ride around at night, looking to run down a small child. Adams only crime was to not come forward after he realized he had hit her. Billy left her alone in a car, at night with a dog. He didn’t even bother to set the child locks on the car so she couldn’t open the door. He’s the father, it was his job to protect her, and he failed to do that

Laws vary by state. In WI it was not negligence by Billy leaving her in the car.

I don't care to have that storyline revisited. It should have been dealt with better at the time. Opening that up again will cause a lot of unneeded drama and fighting. Let sleeping dogs lie and move on.

In TX, leaving a child under 7 (I can't remember how young Delia was) unattended in a car is a Misdemeanor and $500 fine. Now, if the car was stolen with said child, or death due to the result of child left in car... I'm not sure what charges, if any, are warranted.

I don't care to revisit this storyline though.

Laws vary from state to state. Also in the Ohio case, the babysitter was being paid to watch the child, and that may have factored into the decision to charge her.

^ Yep. Laws are different for each state.

Wow that's errie and also awful, my thoughts and sympathies go out to the girls family, like how hard is it to take the child in with you to the store? Such a senseless and tragic choice on the babysitters end.

I looked up the laws for Wisconscin and the legal age a child can be left in the car is 6 and older- Delia was at least 8 or 9, so legally Billy didn't commit any crime by leaving his daughter in the backseat with the dog. What Billy did was lazy/selfish and his poor choices resulted in her death, morally he's accountable, but in the legal sense there is nothing the cops could have arrested him for and charged him with.

As for Adam? I still don't believe he was the person who hit Delia, and I'll rhyme off the reasons
                :
                1) It showed Adam driving at 8:05, towards where Delia was, it showed on Billy's clock that she was struck at 8:01pm, can't be in two places at once. Also the ambulance was shown racing past Adams car, he made a vivid remark of saying "There must be a bad accident up ahead"...
                2) Adams car merely substained a busted headlight- Delia was 4 foot plus tall/60-80 pounds, she was the size of a small deer, and trust me when something that size hits your car, it's doing a lot more damage than merely a busted tail light, there would have been a much larger dent. My sister had her car grazed by a deer (like almost a love tap), and that still not only busted the headlight but put a decent sized dent on the side. Also, not to sound gruesome here, but if he smoked Deliah, her blood would have been splattered on his car, there was NO signs of ANY blood on it at the time of the accident or even in the road way for that matter.

                3) There was another driver on the road that night, that shown where Deliah was struck, a blonde woman. Whoever that mystery woman was is the one who struck her.

What I think happened was this with Adam: Adam was speeding, he saw the dog in the middle of the road, swevered to avoid it, and wound up hitting the bushes, where Delias scar was, he likely hit a branch, which would explain his busted headlight- and why Delias scarf was under his car. I think Adam truly believes he hit her, but in reality, it's just not possible for him to be the one who mowed her down.

I think I remember them saying Delia was 5. Still a sad thought and sad thing to happen on a soap.
