Why are of Jack's love interests crazy, manipulative or sneaky except for Luan

Jack has a type. His love interests are always beautiful, smart, and one step from a Snapped episode. Luan was an outlier. She was normal. Patty is the biggest lunatic of all. Nikki can be manipulative and sneaky. Sharon can be manipulative and sneaky. Sally is manipulative and Sneaky. The woman ( the one hired by Ashley) from the lab was sneaky and manipulative. Diane was manipulative and sneaky. Mari Jo is crazy. Phyllis keeps her true crazy in a box, but it sneaks out from time to time. Jill was sneaky and manipulative. Gloria is a little nuts, but she turned it into fun nuts.

Lauren is missing but Jack had her too.

But, to your question, on a soap the women a little off center are the most interesting.

Agree that women a little off center can be interesting soap characters. But I also have to agree with the OP that Jack has had more than his fair share of crazy or manipulative women. Maybe he's better off alone. LOL

Patty was (maybe) the biggest lunatic - but she started out as a naive, good-hearted bride. Jack had a lot to do with making her a lunatic. I thought that was a much more interesting story - she didn't show up crazy, but she had the makings for it.

Patty was so obsessed with Jack. And, these two were mismatched he was such a player at that time. Patty’s Kitty, Kitty was so bizarre. I think Diane was introduced at this time which didn’t help Patty’s self-rsteem.

I don't really consider Nikki to be a lunatic - or really manipulative - I think she's stuck up, yes, I think she's co-dependent, yes...but not a lunatic. I think she really did love Jack, but just loved Victor more.

In many ways I wish they hadn't made Genevieve crazy...and that Jill and Colin had stayed an remained married....THAT would have made for some interesting sparring matches....

I always thought it was a bit of a stretch how they turned Patty into a complete psycho. Sure, she had some emotional problems, but she was never cunning nor evil. And after her disastrous marriage to Jack, I actually remember them having a conversation where she forgave him and they parted as friends. Her last heartbreak was when she fell in love with Danny Romalotti but he left her to marry Traci. It was at that point that Patty left time....hurt, but certainly not psychotic! I always wondered what happened to her between that time and when she finally re-appeared as Mary Jane Benson. The viewers never found out....

They couldn't have been married very long. It must be Keemo's wife sending the texts. IDK but no
one has said how Keemo died. Could he still be living? It really isn't that interesting. Also, why
was Alli still at Keemo's and she fell asleep. Didn't make sense.

There was also Skye, but this thread is very accurate... Jack always gets some pretty but demented women in his life. Isn't there even one woman in GC that has brains and beauty? If not, let the man stay single.
