  • Sharon is so darn nosey!

She's always lurking in the background with her ears perked up and always ready to listen to her customers' business!!! When Victoria walked in and was on the phone, there was Sharon listening...and asking if she's okay. It's none of her business! Get her a coffee and move on! I feel like Sharon always has to comment on everybody's business.....could you imagine being her customer and trying to have a private conversation? Uggg...okay had to get that off my chest.

Sharon is only shown rarely now...............so excuse her.............one appearance per episode or one appearance per week. I looked forward to the rare appearances of Sharon Newman. The character is obviously not a favorite so she only gets a scene here and there, while we are overwhelmed with others such as Devon/Amanda/Billy/Lily/Abby/Chance weekly. I love the Sharon Newman Coffee Maven situations and why not, it is what business owners do all the time, they are there to provide service (as a lot of customer service type business even in real life) and they usually watch out for their customers in a lot of ways and Sharon knows all the Newmans, too and she is connected to them and always will be.

I agree. Sharon has always been my fave and for a long time now she's rarely seen except to prop someone else. And ITA that Devon/Amanda/Billy/Lily/Abby/Chance are sucking up all the air time and I'm so sick of seeing them. I sure as heck don't listen to them because they just keep repeating the same crap day after day. Devon and Lily have been ruined, IMO. Chance is useless and Billy is, as always, his usual self-sucking, self-absorbing self.

Sharon was always kind of noisy. But never to this extent. She hovers blatantly eavesdropping on conversations.

It's a writing style or tactic with this regime by now. 2019, 2020, 2021, wasn't it Phyllis, also into everyone's businesses while she was heavily shown as The Grand Phoenix Hotel owner? She was brushing up against Danny Boaz's Chance. She was also into Adam's businesses (when Mark Grossman's took over the role of Adam and returned to G.C.), and I remember complaints that she was not necessarily needed in Chance's or Adam's stories. Sally, is also one of the nosiest, she has been shown always listening right around the corner of Adam's office open door, she listened in on Adam's phone conversation with his ex, Chelsea, so she would get an edge. Sally, was stalking Billy (for heaven's sake) spying on Billy for Adam, too. Yet, here, we barely get a scene for the coffee shop owner, Sharon, a token scene, and yet complaints.

True, and Phyllis was called out on this board daily for being a plotted plant. Sharon is nosey too.

Yeah, so people shouldn't have private conversations in a coffee shop and expect privacy. If you want privacy, don't be in public.

Totally agree. However, people having private conversations in public and others eavesdropping has become a staple with this show. However, how in the world did Ashland hear Victoria and Nick's conversation from across the room at Crimson Lights?

If Sharon is standing there and there is no one around for her to wait on while Victoria is on the phone and is talking loudly enough for Sharon to hear, do you expect her to cover her ears and run out of the room so she doesnt over hear the conversation? GMAB Sharon is fine and did nothing wrong. If Victoria wanted privacy, she should have phoned from her car or walked out onto the patio. Dont blame Sharon because she can hear. If you conduct your business openly in her establishment then you get what you get.

Phyllis and Sally were bashed non stop for eavesdropping. But it is not okay to bash Sharon for snooping?

Let’s just face it….practically ALL of the women characters on Y&R eavesdrop like it’s their job!! My question is why do these people have very personal conversations in public places??

True; private conversations in public is soap trope so the “wrong” person overhears.

Phyllis and Sally’s fans defended them. Is it not okay for Sharon’s fans to defend her?

I think the biggest difference is, is that Nick confided in Sharon with his problems. She wouldn't even need to eavesdrop, she probably could hear them.

Her name is not Newman any more.

Sharon wants to be a part of the Newman family badly, so she ingratiates herself as much as humanly possible. The constant eavesdropping is very Sharon, and kind of creepy.

Sharon is and always will be a part of the Newman family. Nick and Sharon share a close friendship as ex-spouses and she is the mother to Newman grandchildren. She doesn't have to ingratiate herself at all.

If one wants to talk about nosy and intrusive let's talk about Billy Abbott the perpetual man child who lives to stick his nose into any and all Newman business.

Wow Sharon criticism lol. I think people are forgetting that Sharon knew what was going on because Nick kind of told her a big part of it even before he came back from the office. she knows that Victoria is behind the eight ball even if she doesn’t know that yet.
I tend to agree that SC is definitely not a favorite of this writer. She’s very rarely on for more than a few seconds. And she can’t be in the same scene as Adam it’s against the law lol.

I don’t see Sharon as desperate to become a Newman at all. And I certainly don’t see the supposed romantic feelings that she and Nick retain. Although that doesn’t mean they won’t do what many people believe they’re going to do idown the road which is put those two back together (a huge mistake in my opinion). That is not a spoiler by the way just conjecture that I’ve seen. While I respectf people loving them as a couple, besides not wanting it because I would prefer their friendship, I also think it will signal not good things for the actors. I feel like they’re going to be put in a nice little cubbyhole on the back burner. That’s even more of a reason (for me anyway) not to want Sharon/Nick.

As for eavesdropping being creepy, what? If that’s true that would apply to every single character on this show and pretty much any soap opera. This is a staple of soap operas, it’s done all the time - to move the story along most of the time. I haven’t watched soaps all that long, but I know that.

Nick confided this very delicate family matter to Sharon and she IS part of that family, no matter what her last name is. She and Victoria are also in a good place right now.
So her curiosity is rather natural, I'd say, only human. Other characters have behaved in a similar way in the past for things that had nothing to do with them and eavesdropping is a soap staple.

I actually like Sharon not being front and center for once, I'm a huge fan but she needs a break from all the drama. We know she has a story coming (Rey and Chelsea hooking up maybe), so having her be aware of everybody's business (Victoria, Chance) is Ok for me, especially since everyone keeps blabbing in that very public place.

Well at least she wasn't hiding behind a potted plant or planting listening devices or wearing a disguise

I agree. She also has this weird savior complex, which is definitely an ego thing.
