  • Why have they taken away the romance between Victoria & Ashland?

I get that it is a new person in the role, but the role is still the same. Ashland and Victoria are in love. Where are the little touches and kisses? Ashland is special to her. She adores him. Why stop that? I personally feel more chemistry with RN than I did with RB. Others may feel differently. But the constant lack of consistency is well, ....ironic?

With RB I felt the romance even though we didn’t see much physical coupling. I’m one who doesn’t feel a romantic connection with RN on board. To me it feels more like a mutually beneficial business relationship, one that Vikki has with a father-like figure. She gets the attention and praise from Ashland whereas for her she doesn’t get what she wants from her dad.

Why stop? For me it was because they didn’t see a romantic connection either but needed a good actor to play a villain more than romantic lead now that they are already married and both focused on business, power and control.

I can remember lots of posts by people here loving RB's chemistry with Victoria.

That does not exist with NuAsh, though no effort has been made to do so either.

My opinion, Josh Griffith is a poor soap writer. They had perfect chemistry between Burgi and Heinle and they let it flop. Newman, as wonderful as he is, has NO chemistry with Heinle.

RN’s Ashland comes off as oddly enough a father figure to Victoria that is not above hurting her to get what he wants. RB’s Ashland I do believe played the role for Ashland to actually be in love with Victoria and was just much more romantic with her. But Ashland is supposed to be the villain and using Victoria as everyone has warned her, so the lack of chemistry works as RN’s version of Ashland I believe is not in love with Victoria just want control of the company.

I agree with your comments. And, I don’t see this Ashland with Tara, I understand perfectly Tara’s Summer of fun with Kyle.

The new Ashland is a good actor. But there is no romantic chemistry between him and Victoria.

The writers had nothing to do with RB leaving...being fired. RN is doing a great job.

Matter of opinion. It takes WEEKS to sign a major actor like Newman, something Y&R said they did in days. My opinion tptb had this going BEFORE Burgi was fired.

Robert Newman is a fine actor, but tptb have mucked up the character of Ashland beyond correction. Not even Robert Newman can fix this.

I do see chemistry but I don’t see them given scenes where they can really show it. RN says Ashland really loves Victoria so it is on him to show it despite the writing.

A character can be a charming , charismatic, devious businessman and still have romance. I know RB would have no problem bringing that but he didn’t have time enough to play Ashland. AH lacks the romantic spark she had with RB. He brought something out in her that few actors have. I read that he’s funny and witty in real life maybe he’s just got it. I don’t feel that with this Ashland and Victoria scenes yet.

I see chemistry but they just haven't been made to be shown kissing or any love scenes except looking at each other and holding hands.. Then again, RN just came on too..

I just think at this point the writers don't care about the romance end of the relationship. They are trying to focus on Ashland's underhanded doings and the fight between him and Victor and who will win. Quite frankly, that's all I'm interested in now as well. They have let him float for months so what else could they have him do but primp and preen Victoria with pecks on the side of her head. Now the dynamics have changed in the storyline and it's going in a different direction that doesn't really warrant the romance.

I think with all that's going on with Ashland, in the back of Victoria's mind, she's becoming suspicious of him which may have affected "the romance", or lack thereof.
