Conversations about shows that are shown a day ahead in Canada are considered spoilers until they air the next day in the United States. Please place those conversations in the special "Day Ahead" discussions.

Posting spoiler information in topic titles or in non-spoiler topics is absolutely prohibited.

I see this all the time. I get into a thread and see they are talking about something that was aired in Canada and talking openly about it. I am in Canada so I know what they are talking about but I just comment by saying "SHH, this is not aired in US yet"..it's not fair to them, or even us Canadians who can't comment on their comments because they are really spoilers.

I can understand that people sometimes forget. But I’ve also seen intentional spoiler posts where the poster joins a discussion to say something like, “well, all that’s going to change on tomorrow’s episode.”

Listen guys -- ever since the beginning of the pandemic, I've not known what day it is and neither has my husband! It could be a Thursday, he thinks it's Tuesday and I think it's Saturday! (And notice how I'm conveniently blaming this on the pandemic.) Anyway... People make mistakes and this "sticky" isn't about that. It's about people who are deliberately disregarding our spoiler policies, just because they want to be "first" to tell the spoiler information. This is just meant to be a reminder, because we have ongoing problems with people (not just Canadian viewers) who regularly disregard our policy on posting spoilers. Please just be careful, check twice and then check again before you post about something that you've just watched in Canada. And also before posting any other potential spoiler information in any other location on the site, if it's not a designated spoiler topic. And again, if you see someone who seems to be deliberately disregarding our spoiler policies, please flag that comment or topic. Thanks!

What's happening is the day-ahead people are starting threads about the day-ahead shows but only vaguely mention what happened. Then sure enough, other posters will feel free to spoil many of the scenes that will happen tomorrow for the US.

If it's about the day-ahead show, please don't start threads about what happens without using the "spoiler". That's the rule, right?

Any Canadian is welcome to open a daily "Day Ahead" spoiler discussion, just in the same way that any poster is allowed to begin an ordinary daily Live Thread. If you're a Canadian who wants to make a comment about that day's show and you don't see an existing "Day Ahead" topic, then start one! What you can't do is to randomly stick a spoiler reference inside a non-spoiler topic.

My educated guess is that you started a post about an episode that everyone hasn't seen yet. U.S. episodes air one day after Canadian episodes. It is considered a spoiler.

You need to contact a moderator privately -- through direct email -- to ask about deletions. As we have posted numerous times, all over the site. A hyperlink to our email addresses can be found in the "email me" portion our signatures, at the bottom of all of our posts. Full posts, not internal comments.

Is it now allowed to post the Canadian episodes before the US episodes have aired? because I've seen it three times now this morning and multiple comments that "used to be" considered spoilers, all being talked about and yet US has not aired yet. Is this a new rule that you can do that now, because, if not, it sure is being spoiled for those people. I'm sure this post will be deleted but I get a little miffed when things are talked about before they aired, however, if this is now allowable, then I will comment on these posts myself instead of just bypassing them

the boards are on Eastern Standard Time, in most markets the show airs from 12:30 to 1:30, once it airs in the US its allowed to be discussed. So if someone is in a different time zone, they may want to steer clear of the boards until it airs in their area. It may have been before it airs for you, but since the boards are in EST its permitted to be discussed freely as its airing in the EST markets

I assume it's ok to post about Canadian episodes after 1;30 pm. I am in Ontario and have always done that. This morning I looked at the posts over my morning coffee at like around 9 am and there were posts on the site, not marked spoiler, and all discussing the US episode. In fact, there is one there that has been there all day and is still there and there is a complaint on it from a US viewer. So I'm going to flag it just so you can see what's happening. And thank you Moderators for all your hard work. I can see it must keep you people going to watch all of this. Much appreciated.

Okay, I'm thinking that this shouldn't be all that difficult. Here we go:


- Anyone who has watched the show in Canada can begin a spoiler Canadian "Day-Ahead" topic. It's a spoiler conversation, because the show hasn't aired in the U.S. yet, so please use the site's designated SPOILER prefix from the drop-down menu when creating the topic title.

- This topic is a bit like regular Live Threads, because it's describing what happened on the show that day. Therefore, anyone who has already watched the show can add to the narrative.

- The Day Ahead spoiler topic is meant to discuss everything that happened on the show that day. Otherwise, we would end up with 4,245,002,678 individual spoiler topics about each aspect of the show, which would overwhelm the forum! So, if xyz kissed efg, then you can talk about it. If qrs drops dead on that same episode, you can talk about it in that same topic. If three babies are born all at once on that episode, you can talk about it. If there's a cliffhanger on that show, you can talk about it. Whatever happens on the show, once the show has aired in Canada, you can talk about it in the designated Spoiler Day Ahead discussion.

I have no idea what the "other site" being referenced is, but if it's video of the Canadian show that's being illegally posted on YouTube, and not posted by the network itself, then it's not a permitted source; the content is copyright infringement and, therefore, illegal content.

So to summarize: After the show has aired in Canada, anyone can begin a "Canadian Day Ahead" topic, properly marked as a spoiler discussion, as described above, in which everything that happened on that Canadian episode that day can be discussed.

Per SOC's guidelines:

"The posting of copyrighted content (text and images), including content from other web sites, newspapers, magazines, books or any other intellectual property is not permitted."


As far as I know, Y&R airs on CBS from 12:30 - 1:30 pm, East Coast Time. Therefore, spoiler information is no longer spoiler information at 1:30 pm, EST. After 1:30 pm, everything that Canadians watched in Canada the day before, can be openly discussed here.

I made a post yesterday about Rey dieing and some poster comes at me about it being spoiler, it wasn't a spoiler it was shown yesterday on 4/20 ,about Rey didnt make it....
I didnt post a spoiler... did I...? if it was already shown.... and Canada is a day ahead of us....

You CANNOT post information about what happened on a show in Canada -- which airs one day ahead of the US -- until it has aired EAST COAST TIME in THE UNITED STATES. Until then, it's still spoiler information. It doesn't matter if the episode has aired all over the world, including the North and South Poles! Until it has aired East Coast Time in the United States, it cannot be posted anywhere other than in a properly marked spoiler discussion.

I have a question about that. I am on Eastern daylight savings time. I get the Canadian episode on Global from 4:30-5:30. There are people in Toronto etc, same time zone as I am but they are getting the Canadian episode through some other source other than Global a couple of hours ahead and then posting a spoiler. Is this allowable? Should I private email you about this or can you tell me here?

My post was made a little after 1230 pm in USA central time... and it had already showed in NY eastern coast and the central..
...Y&R comes on where I live at 11:30 am...how can it be a spoiler when it was already shown yesterday.......?
