Wow...that's a throwback to when John Abbott always said that to his daughter Ashley. Anyone else catch that? I think it was pretty cute.

He certainly can tell his wife she's beautiful, but I remember Tracy saying how hurtful those words were to her when she would hear her father say them to Ashley. So I didn't find that a pleasant memory.

I remember this too. I thought that when John Abbott said this to Ashley it was insensitive to Tracy. Who is equally as pretty as Ashley is.

I was always disturbed by that, too, @LittleLulu John made a point of telling Ashley she was beautiful, which seemed to negate Traci's beauty. I liked both the girls, but that always made me sorry for poor Traci, who is very pretty and a wonderful, talented person.

John Abbott never found out, by my knowledge, that Ashley wasn’t his. Others know.
I thought it was sweet of Ashland on one hand but funny writers didn’t use another pet name for Victoria.

Weird to use the same pet name a father said to his daughter to a wife/ husband relationship…never like that pet name ..even before Tracy’s complaint it was irritated the hell of me …

I found it weird too. In my experience I haven't heard that expression used except on Y&R.

Oh, I hope they don't write him that way. No one can take John Abbott's place no matter how good an actor he is. I don't even like Ashland myself. I think he's very interesting to watch, but he'll never be beloved like John Abbott, and Ashland has done some terrible things, I don't care how long ago they were. But that's just me.
