What happened to the Lily/Abby friendship?

The two of them used to be quite close but lately they rarely interact. Lily wasn't invited to Abby's wedding. Lily obviously did not know about Chance and Abby's issues with conceiving s child and since Abby will be raising a bi-racial child if Devon becomes a donor Lily could give her advice in raising a bi-racial child. Lily could talk to her about using a surrogate to carry a child but it was apparent by Lily's conversation with Devon she knew nothing about Abby's plans.

I wonder if Billy knows what is going on with Abby? He is her uncle even if they are not actually related by blood and he is Chance's blood uncle. I don't think I have heard him mention it and Lily didn't bring it up after she talked with Devon.

Agreed, lily could be in this story with Abby and it's make total sense. However, I've noticed over the years that when certain characters get pairings, their pairing only interacts with them unless she's a lead in her own right. Billy is one of those type characters. All lily's time and CKs contract episode counts are used solely for Billy's story.

I would definitely say is not really change of paring it’s mostly Abby has been like a Russian roulette of friendship, ..we saw her have few closed friendship through the years until they’re gone and they never interact more,.... at the end true, it seems Devon is the only constant even they seems not as close as in the past, .. but Abby was close to Lily, Lola and now Mariah ,... Lily and Lola seem now like an afterthought when you’re right you’ll think she would share those type of news with them, ... .

If the Writers knew the history of the show and its Characters instead of writing for the sake of writing it would be a more interesting show to watch.

I know Mariah and Abby were friends but this made up "best Friends" between Abby and Mariah is ridiculous.

Sadly friendship connections are not the only connections not being explored. Where are the Abbotts in Abby's conception story? Jack, Billy, Ashley, Tracy? Does anyone in her family know that Devon is planning to be her donor.

I too am confused as to when Mariah suddenly became her BFF at one time they were not even friends! Lily and Lola whom she used to be much closer to seem to be out of the loop so to speak especially in terms of the surrogacy/donor situation well Lily knows now but because of Devon not Abby and we haven't seen Lola in a few weeks so....

I think Ronan should be brought in as the donor since he's Chance's brother or maybe Cane he isn't a biological relative but there is a kind of family connection because Jill considers him her son and obviously he had a close relationship's with Phillip at one point since Phillip and Cane "conspired" if you will to have Cane pretend to be Phillip.

This is a good example of what I wrote about in the thread about suggestions to "fix" YR.

This show is really, really weak when it comes to having characters cross in and out of each other's stories. Lily and Abby are just one example.

It's weak at developing and maintaining friendships And it fails at creating any sense of a community where a number of people should be seen interacting with each other.

For this specific story, the cynical reason for forcing a Mariah-Abby friendship and neglecting the Abby-Lily one is that Mariah can gift Abby a baby. Lily cannot.

I think you are absolutely right! Especially in terms of the Mariah/Abby relationship even though Lily could have and maybe should have been someone Abby would have turned to as a woman who had conception issues and used a surrogate to carry her children.

Of course they should.

And the failure to do so speaks to yet another significant YR problem - the failure to develop needed emotional and in-character beats in stories - all stories - not just this one. As I tried to indicate in another thread this morning, seeing the common characteristics in a number of stories can be helpful. Discouraging, but helpful.
