Y&R has always had a dark set back then. That is something I even remember from back then as I would have to play with my brightness and contrast to see things compared to my other soaps!

Between the dark lighting and often eerie music, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were watching Dark Shadows at times.

I faithfully watched that too. I would dash off the school bus to catch it. I think maybe Y&R came on one of our channels in the afternoon before DS and might have gotten to see the tail end of some of the early episodes from back then if I got home early enough. I definitely remember seeing some of the very old shows. Also sure i watched over the holidays and during summer break.

TunerEyes Re: Dark Shadows, LOL!! My sister/I would rush in after school to watch General Hospital, followed by Dark Shadows. That was back when soaps were still a half-hour.

Ah, Vanessa, Lorie snd Lance. Vanessa was very possessive of Lance and hated Lorie. I always felt sorry for her having a witch for a MIL. I thought Lorie had fabulous hair and never understood why she was so disliked but Lorie had her number. Vanessa would act nice as long as Lance was around. I have forgotten what caused her facial scars but she felt hideous and became even more bitter. Remember the doctor taking her bandages off and giving her a mirror.

I watched in the early days and returned about 7 years ago. I remember Vanessa with the veil - it was very mysterious to me at the time, I want to say she had burns but that was a long time ago- I am not sure. I remember enjoying John McCook as Lance. How disappointed I was to return to the show and have almost all the old characters gone. I loved the Brooks and the Fosters.

It's a real treat to get to watch these old episodes. I miss Douglas, too. He has always been one of my favorite Y and R characters.
I was fifteen or sixteen when this episode aired, so I don't think I saw it. But I definitely remember the episode where Victor sees Nikki preform at the strip club, so either I missed school that day or it aired in the summer.

Wow! Monday's Show was a hoot!Such drama, lol! The actor who played Lance and the actress who played Lorie were both very popular in t.v. through the 70's/80's.
IIRC, April was Heather's daughter by Paul. She left GC because she was pregnant, but Paul wasn't ready to be a father nor get married(?) Anyhow, April wound up marrying an abusive guy. She showed back up in GC w/a 7 yr old(?) Heather. Her abuser followed her, then is killed, April/was charged/stood trial, and Paul was trying to help her.
The Nikki/Victor scenes were cute!

The only characters I recognized yesterday (Mon.) were Victor's friend the Colonel and of course Victor and Nikki. I recognized the actor Dennis Cole from his prime time TV work. Still I enjoyed watching this episode and just wanted to chime in to show support for what CBS is doing by showing these old episodes. I think though they should have started off Victor/Nikki week with the episode showing when Victor first saw Nikki working at a strip club.

Here is my 2 cents, was Nikki talking about her glamorous life, as a stripper???? was she the stripper then, or was she just a dancer? today really made me think of all Nikki has said to Sharon over the years, cause Nikki was straight off the stripper pole when she came into what would become her life, rich with horses, homes, money, etc. and how dare her ever say Sharon only wanted nick's money, Sharon loved Nick and gave her all with him, she didn't deserve to be treated that way from someone who knows darn well life on the wild side.
next thing, who in the heck was that guy talking too? he kept talking to the audience?????? I wanted to show my husband Victor cause when I was still watching the regular show, he was always like "that guy is still on the show?" and I was at the part where nikki was at the table and it seemed they were prepositioning her, and when nikki and victor walked away he was talking to the monitor. and...…..it was creepy, really creepy. its like he had to tell the viewers what was happening, like they couldn't figure that out for themselves.
Loved seeing the lady lorie as she was on days as laura, I think jenns mom. she could tell something was up with vanessa cause she was so ok with their marriage.
I would like to see more of those stories from yesterday as I was 5 and my mom watched days and another world, BUT>…………...that episode moved SO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWW I could only imagine a week. now maybe that's cause the show seems to move so fast now and over the years, but it was like wow, that took an hour?????????
My husband saw Nikki "Reed" and said she looked the same as today, I mean that woman is gorgeous. I have always loved Nikki, sadly I prefer her with different men, really anyone but victor with the exception of David loved the days of her and jack, even liked her and brad.
ok, it said that episode was from 10/31/1981, Halloween!!!! I was 5 this day, my sisters were 2 and 1, and I couldn't help but wonder, if my mom had watched Days and Another world, and I did used to watch with her, but can only remember from about 1985ish, but she watched her soaps, and then got us ready for trick or treating with...…..wait for it...….our pillowcases. I do remember trick or treating when I lived up north, but am sure it was not this year though.

This is the oldest episode of Y&R I think I've seen. I wasn't born until about ten years after this aired. Like most posters have said, I only recognize Victor & Nikki. However, I usually put the closed captions on with the older episodes, so it shows the names of the characters.
