  • I really want to see the ratings for these flashback episodes!

With new episodes about to run out this week, flashback episodes are going to be the new normal and that has me psyched! Thay being said, I really want to see how these episodes perform in the current network landscape. How they compare to the ratings from new episodes of Y&R, the ongoing ratings of other soaps, and maybe even the ratings of primetime show.

What I'm hoping is that ratings are lucrative enough for CBS to consider streaming more old episodes online, or even dedicate the Friday timeslot to flashback episodes indefinitely. Thoughts?

Last week's flashback got 3 million which is better than the new episodes of Days & GH. It will be interesting to see the numbers when its all repeats.

GH had a rerun episode Friday also.

I just don't have an interest in soap reruns.

I don't either unless they're from way, way back before I began watching. Even then they really don't have any appeal for me.

They are fun. if only to see the younger versions of current characters and the fashion & hairstyles. But eventually it will get old. At least Y&R is showing really old episodes, as opposed to GH showing ones from a couple of years ago. I assume it's about money~ they have to pay residuals to actors no longer on the show.

For me, it depends on the storyline.

As an old-time viewer, I enjoyed last week’s flashback so much I taped it. It was great fun being reminded how handsome Jack and Neil were, how Cricket/Christine once had a personality, how missed are the Barber sisters Dru and Liv and their Aunt Mamie, how much this Nate physically resembles his parents, how Paul once had a loyal gal Friday named Lynn, how entertaining were Jill and Nina, how much Heather Tom as Victoria was not an insecure dishrag, and best of all how much I loved seeing my fave villainess of all time – the incomparable early Sheila Carter!

Please may I have some more, perhaps follow one old s/l for a week every Christmas while regular shooting is shut down?

I can't wait to find out how the Classic episodes do in ratings. I am tuning in for the first time in years (because they aren't sharing the Classics on cbs.com). I think certain weeks will stand up and possibly surpass current ratings. As much as I would love to see 80s storylines, I know they need to keep the Classics closer to what is happening now - so newer viewers don't get lost with the storylines.

They show the classics on CBS.com just have to click under the season 47 and it shows season 20 season 18 season 11 right now??

I'm very interested in how the "theme weeks" will do, especially the first one next week which will be all Katherine Chancellor centric episodes. I'm sure people will want to watch them.

I thought I read they lost a bunch of old episodes somehow. Does anyone remember reading that and what the cause was?

I love the classic episodes from 80 and 90’s but I am definitely not nostalgic to watch them. I’ll be more interest to see the one I didn’t watch early episode from the first year in 70’s, introduction of the Abbott or Philippe Chancellor’s death.

I am enjoying the classic episodes too. If this is the only way to see Paul then I am happy to watch. I would love to see the very first episode of Y&R if that is at all possible or did they air that episode all ready?

I have watched the first episode online, but do not if providing a link is allowed here

I would love to be able to watch these classic episodes, especially ones from the 90's era. We aren't getting them in my country though unfortunately so I'm glad I can come here and read a little about them.

I know not everyone enjoys re-runs, but this particular fan is now being counted in the Y&R ratings! I grew up as a child of CBS soaps but in the days of the VCR, (when I was a teen) I had switched to Another World and Days and only had one VCR so NBC is what I recorded every day. After AW left the air, I switched back to CBS a bit. After GL and ATWT left, I switched to GH and GH only...but I have to say their storyes have left me lackluster as of late. Plus they are refusing to show old classic episodes instead opting for recently aired repeats.

These Classic Y&R weeks are drawing me back in to Y&R. Oh my goodness - Katherine Chancellor, Paul, Nathan and Lynn, Cricket and Danny.
Oh be still my heart. I don't care that I know how the stories already end. I love watching my favorite movies over and over again and I know how those end. So it's no different for me.
I'm back enjoying Y&R and I hope others are too and contributing to the ratings.

I think news preemptions will play a negative number in the ratings. Today's Katherine episode was completely pre-empted here in NY.

I can't remember the last episode where YR wasn't preempted (at least in part). It's gotten to the point where instead of watching live, I wait for the episode to upload to the app and those numbers aren't counted in SON's numbers--though CBS definitely sees them.

I am very excited to see these older episodes. I love Dru! I so miss her.And early Phyllis is watchable! I so so miss the acting and the writing from that era. And Katherine ...Jeanne Cooper was spectacular!
This was Drama and I really miss it.
