Sharon’s Breast Cancer story [Merged}

Sharon’s Breast Cancer story is the best Y&R storyline in ages. The writing is excellent & I hope whoever is writing it will start writing for the other SLs. The SL with Adam/Chelsea/Conor is awful. The actor paying Adam is making me FF through all of the story. The child actor playing Conor, is superb. Please get a better actor for Adam and a happier SL for the family.

ITA. I stopped watching last year because it was aweful. I started watching when I read SC was going to be doing this storyline and I am hooked back in.

I mostly FF the rest, but from what I've seen of the new Adam, I like the actor, I just think he was a miscast as Adam.

Totally disagree with you and Mark Grossman has also made the character Adam his own. Very great actor, somehow he managed to mesh all the previous Adam's (Chris Engen, especially, Michael Muhney's, and Justin Hartley's) persona's into one. M.G. maybe a younger Adam, but he manages to make himself act and feel older, too, with some makeup to help (I think during his introduction from April/May of last year thru the summer month's when he was heavily featured in Las Vegas and his scenes with Victor, NIck, etc. I followed his whole storyline with everyone and he had a lot of screen time thru the summer and finally his air time was cut back by September and now only makes appearances with his little family. EB's Victor and MG's Adam are my favorite father/son scenes, btw.

I love Adam and think MG is terrific, but Chelsea and Connor ruin him. I think Adam needs to be alone. He can get into more trouble that way. He is too good to be tied down by boring Chelsea and disturbed Connor.

I love the new Adam but not in the story line with Chelsey and Connor they should have left her and Connor were they were not brought them back Adam was more interesting when he first came back he is a perfect recast as he resembles Victor in every way .Chelsey is the one that makes every man boring get ride of her and Adam will be back to his old self the writers can then bring excitement to the show. Love the story line with Sharon case that is what is bringing the viewers back now.

Sharon Case is like a silent film actress from the time silent film movies were made (American Movie Classic, use to be a channel from the 1990's used to show clips of it or maybe at the Academy Awards show, but you get my drift, the actresses in silent film have to use their facial expressions). I have to mute certain parts to watch Sharon's illness s/l so I can watch mother and daughter scenes (Sharon and Faith) mainly or Sharon with both of her daughters, Mariah and Faith, which are rare now. So, I've turn the audio on and off while I watched this and I can't believe how I can tell what's happening with Sharon just by watching her expressions. SC is a very good actess and doing a very good job, obviously, with this public message type of s/l. This is a very realistic type of s/l, too, and when you watched a family member go thru this and she died, you just can't really watch it (I don't see it as entertainment type of soap s/l, but I see the importance of it, though).

SC is an amazing actress and I’m glad she’s getting a major story especially given that she’s a popular vet.

As for MG, I think they are wasting his talent by barely letting him interact with anyone other than Chelsea and Connor. The faux Cleaver family with the next Michael Myers as a child is boring.When MG came back as Adam he was interesting to watch and his scenes with EB, SC, JM and MS were engaging and he held his own with some long time vets. Now he’s just been pigeon holed into stay at home dad placating his brat of a child while Chelsea “works”. They need to get him out of the penthouse and interacting with adults again. And please god make this Vegas secret worth it being dragged out for months.

Agree, getting rid of Chelsea would be wonderful, especially for Adam, who was a great character till Chelsea arrived.

I love this Adam. He just looks evil. He played in Lifetimes Double Mommy. Knocked his evil character out of the park!

I love Sharon’s storyline. I love that she had finally has a story of her own. Sharon has a great support system that will help her get through everything. Nick is so much more likable when he is in scene with Sharon vs Chelsea. I also really like Chelsea & Adam together. I was once one of the Chadam fans that was giving up on them when Chelsea was with Nick but I have grown to really adore them again. Once Adam starts working again I feel like everyone will like him more. I think some viewers really didn’t like how dark he was when he first came back in town from Vegas that’s why they tone him down so much. But Dark Adam is coming back soon enough I’m sure lol.

Here's the thing... Ppl have been clamoring for SC to get off the backburner for so long TPTB had no choice but to listen. SC is doing a great job but I don't think it's enough to have ppl invested unless the writing is truly there. Her family rallying around her is great but that's going to get old very quickly and it's still a difficult subject for many. Sharon have cancer *cue water works!* is not enough to have ppl return full time.

Her story is in desperate need of drama if all it's going to be is promoting awareness. This is a soap. This story is barely getting traction on social media. Everyone is applauding SC's performance but it's not enough. I hope when everyone finds out Adam is finally inserted into this storyline and their friendship is re-established. Adam should be allowed to offer his support too - Rey and Nick be dammed. If they care about Sharon they will respect her decision not to create any drama for her. I'm giving this show a few more weeks for JG to show his hand.

they need to add more to the story to keep people invested,eventually it's gonna need soapy elements,just watching Sharon suffer will get tiring. some of the writing feels more like a PSA than soap story

I agree with all of y’all. This story can only go so far if they don’t inject a bit of drama into it esp. if they expect people to tune into it for 10 months.

Step one Nick and Sharon begin to bond more. Sharon realizes that deep down she doesn’t love Rey enough to have him go through this whole journey with her (I mean let’s face it when they got back together Sharon seemed half in half out. Esp. In her convos with Mariah about Rey). Sharon and Nick solidify their friend/co-parent relationship aka Nick is not going to be a judgmental jerk off to her from this point forward.

Rey saddened by the breakup runs into Victoria who is dealing with the fall out from Billy’s issues. They bond and eventually form a relationship. Until it’s discovered that Billy really does have full on DID with one alter in love with Victoria and one with Amanda. That drama plays out creating angst for Rey, Victoria, Billy and Amanda.

Adam learns that Sharon has cancer. visits her on various occasions as a friend sparking Chelsea’s insecurities about their relationship. Chelsea finds out she’s pregnant ( I don’t like or want a WTD storyline but they set it up as a possibility ) - claims it is Adam’s to keep the Faux Cleavers together but it’s really Nick’s.

Nick and Adam see Teflon Con for what she really is. Adam gets custody of Connor and Nick the other kid and they collectively run her out of town.

Just my wishful thinking to make the cancer storyline not just about Sharon or her family crying but to institute a ripple effect for other.

I've watched some of it, and while SC and the kid who plays Faith are doing great acting, the story screams paint by numbers PSA for breast cancer. Maybe not a bad thing, given the median YR viewer is 60 years old and female. But nevertheless, this isn't really my jam. This isn't a soapy illness story. If Victor's mystery illness is any indication, it doesn't look good. JG managed to make Adam getting shot, boring as heck.

Victor's epilepsy was good soap. Heck, Ashley's breast cancer story was SOAPY. I'm not seeing it here. I can tell this is going to be boring AF. Lots of pamphlet type dialogue.

I agree the SL with Sharon is the best Y&R has had in a long time. As for Adam, I love the actor playing Adam but his SL is a complete dud!
