  • I am so sick of hearing how good Lola's food is

Literally every second episode we waste time having people gush about how amazing Lola's cooking is and her being all "aw, shucks" about it. We get it. She's a chef. She makes good food. Can we move on, please? Not to mention, there's only so good that food can be. They act like it's a life changing revolutionary experience every time and it's really cringe worthy

There's no other character who needs their profession constantly validated several times a week

You are so right. Validation is a good word! "Life-changing experience"........LOL! That's great! You made me laugh!

GC characters constantly need compliments and praise. If you really listen, the writers are always using three words for the praise: You are kind, gentle, and sweet.
You are loyal, brave, and understanding. It seems half of the dialogue is praising each other.

I don't know why there is the need to keep praising Lola's food. I saw a plate on one show that looked like a pile of scraps.

This belongs on the wardrobes, sets thread...however...yeah, I'd love to EAT some of Lola's food, rather than just hear about it! I could eat the screen when she talks about it
and try to make what she cooks! I LOVE IT!

I really don't believe this is a food thread. It's yet another thread to criticize Lola disguised as a food thread. As much as some are annoyed with the over the top praise of Lola's cooking, and Lola is a character that is a chef but obviously the actress isn't so her knife skills don't bother me, I get a little annoyed with the constant over the top complaining about Lola. I actually think she is a great addition to Y&R and love hers and Kyle's story. I also love how sweet and caring she is including how she has forgiven Summer's awful past behaviour and become friends with Theo.

Speaking only for myself, I am annoyed with the over the top praise of Lola period. I couldn't care less about her food or skill or lack there of.
To be fair, other characters get worse criticism than Lola every day.

It's kind of hard for me to buy Lola as a professional chef when

1, she doesn't get enthused when talking about food and her food. This is supposed to be her passion, not her Ambien

      and

2, she has zero knife skills. The prep cook in my local diner is going a mile a minute with his knife. It's one of the basic skills of cooking. But she chops celery like she's in super slo-mo. Don't show her with a knife, it makes her position totally unbelievable.

Since I like her I have no problem with it.

I was a big fan of Avery's cooking show (Jessica the actor is a trained Cordon Bleu Chef in real life) and I wonder what happened to Lola's attempt at a cooking show?
Bring it on, and maybe I will be able to master Tamales (especially green ones) !

Theo actually sending a pic of whatever that slop concoction was supposed to be. What else can they do with Lola; they writers have painted her in a corner as a no life person. Her only friends are Kyle's friends and family. Now, even her possible affair person is Kyle's ex-friend and new family member.

I always thought tamales were a Mexican Christmas tradition. Do Cubans make tamales at Christmastime too? I lived near the Mexican border for decades and I've made hundreds of tamales, but I didn't realize that those of Cuban descent did the same.

Im tired of the door-to-door service. Lola always packing a lunch for somebody. I guess she doesnt have enough to do at Society to keep her busy so she travels around town with her picnic basket feeding all the execs at Jabot.

And you're right about her knife skills. Heck she chops celery like me, not like a professional chef. LOL.

What was so damned funny to me was those more than obvious empty containers Lola handed out, then asked if they should 'dig in'.
Before they cut to commercial, Kyle (Michael) opened his box too wide.
There was absolutely nothing inside, but I knew that by the way she handled the boxes.

I agree with your post Guest

The over the top praise of Lola needs to stop. She’s an established character now, no need to continue propping her. They act like her food is the Second Coming or something.

With this, I absolutely agree especially since she has been established for some time now!

Just like any other profession on Y and R, there is no reality in the portrayal. Remember the Restless Stlye magazine? They would get a new issue together in a week, whereas in real life it takes years. And doctors in 2019 have specialties...they are brain surgeons, liver surgeons, ER doctors and boutique doctors all rolled into one. Billion dollar deals don't go down overnight. You get the picture.
