Summer vs Abby

From what you have seen on screen. Are their characters the same or different? I almost feel like one of them has to go. Every character on YR should be different. I don't like how Kyle is slicker than Billy. Even Jac at this age should be way slicker than he is. Even best Victor once in awhile.

They used to be similar. But Abby has shown growth I never would have expected.

Hmmm, you ask a good question. They are both legacy characters with very well established roots in the show and yet, somehow, the writers don't seem to know how to use them.

Take Abby for example: she has been though so many failed relationship, I've lost count. But that is not the problem, because who in GC is ever happy for more than a day or two? The issue with Abby is that all her connections are very superficial, does anyone really remember one of her past pairings? Sure, there were Stich, Tyler, Arturo... all forgettable and bland. Where is her ride or die, the Victor to her Nikki, the Nick to her Sharon etc... She should be a very important character, but she somehow always ends up in B-plots. And all her men end up gone.

Summer has been better used, especially recently thanks to the Kyle connection. They have super couple potential if done right (Lola is so not IT for him). If she has good writing, the charactet can have a long life in GC.

If I were to choose going by what I've seen so far, I think Summer has more potential, because the writing for Abby is always so bland.

I have been asking for Devon and Abby to be paired up since before MO even took over the role. I really wish they would give them a GOOD shot already!

I like Summer and tolerate Abby, so I see them as different. Summer is Nick Jr. Abby is a more tragic character who never fully captured her father's love and because of it, is often unfulfilled.

You make an excellent point about Abby's relationship with her father. She sometimes mentions how she is always left out of all things Newman but for the most part she seems ok with being mostly an Abbott. Maybe that's why she hasn't been able to find her one true love, yet, she doesn't feel worthy enough.
Summer is the ultimate "daddy's girl ", Abby has barely had a dad since Brad died. Such a shame that he was killed off, he was one of a kind !

Victor knows Abby is an emotional basket case on any given day. He warned her about Arturo and she didn't want to hear it. Victor loves her and would do anything for her so I don't see him treating her any different than Victoria. JMO

Summer is just too self absorbed and immature and she uses ppl. Abby has grown a lot. Abby seems to have learned from her mistakes. Summer not so much
