Today's US Episode (Tuesday, 3/20) Was Insulting to Viewers

In my opinion, today's episode (Wednesday, 3/20) was insultingly bad. I didn't think that it was laughable. I didn't think that it was campy fun. I just thought that TPTB care so little about Y&R viewers that they didn't even try to meet a minimum standard of quality when they broadcast today's show. Wasn't there someone at Y&R, CBS or Sony - wasn't there a sponsor - hell, wasn't there ANYBODY who thought that viewers deserved more than today's episode?

Sorry, I should have typed Wednesday, 3/20 in the thread title. I'm just so pissed off . . .

Maybe it is because they are in between writers? I think that the whole carryout of the JT story has been a campy mess. However if JG has to let things play out as the previous writer wanted, maybe it will improve. I get it, it is embarrassing.

I thought todays show was GREAT! This story twist by Josh Griffied helped save JT's in my eyes. I have always loved JT & Colleen, and I loved them together. JT was a good person. Now with the Brain Tumor will explain exactly how ill he was, and this will save him. .

I'm not sure if you're referring to my post but if you are, here's what I mean: I think that today's episode was very poorly written. Incredibly poorly written. JT's explanation of how he survived being buried alive made no sense. The three women sitting on the couch inhaling gas fumes instead of getting up and hopping (or crawling) to the door made no sense. Rey's discussion with Victor/Billy/Nick at the police station was ridiculous. All of the dialogue was stilted, whether it was Victor/Billy/Nick; Phyllis/Billy; Christine/Rey or anyone else. It felt as if no one made any effort to deliver a quality product. I know that many of us are not in the most desirable demographic for advertisers. I know that soap viewers are not the most respected audience in the world. But we deserve better than what was served up today.

I've seen far worse in the last however many months than today's show. Just my opinion but JG is stuck with trying to finish up a horrendously written story and this part was far better than Nick and the JT mask to me.

I agree WT. I think they're trying to scrape together what they can to get this story over with. Its lasted almost a year and needs to end.

I didn't find the show bad at all, and I appreciate the fact that JG is winding up the JT storyline. If it gets a little sloppy, I'm okay with it. I look forward to anything that doesn't involve a Rosales, especially Lola.

I have seen 25 years worth of episodes, and can list right off 20-30 that annoyed me greatly. It is subjective.

Actually, this episode was a nice little hint of improving status of the show. Soon we get Paul back, and possibly more of our favorites.

People have been screaming for the end of the J.T. story, and WE GOT IT! So I am happy.

I enjoyed everyone's great acting chops (despite) and J.T. was very riveting to watch again and I like the way he told the women off and what they did? bury him alive. That part I really liked. Its about time they are all called on what they did and they are all criminals, too, including Phyllis. Nikki, who clubbed J.T. in the head should have come forward a very long time ago, and glad that J.T. said to Victoria about how she allowed his son to think he abandoned him and they all just kept hiding and meeting and how to keep it a secret. Obstruction of justice and burying a still alive human being.

IMO, it's ridiculous that JT is lashing out at Vikki because she allowed Reed to believe JT abandoned him. JT could have come forward to let his son know that he did not abandon him - but he didn't. It was more important to him to terrorize and get even with the women for (what started out as) a mother defending her daughter. I thought it was a bit hypocritical he'd say that, especially since Vikki didn't intentionally hurt JT and didn't know how to address his father's disappearance with Reed. What JT did was deliberate.

Yes, Rubythroat1, you're right. It's subjective. For me, today's episode was a jump the shark moment. I cannot remember an episode of poorer quality.

...Very subjective. Christine's portrayal abusing the criminal justice system by overzealous prosecution while in conflict of interest. Truly maddening...

Okay, I agree with the OP when it came to the ladies.
Made no sense that the three of them would continue sitting on the couch, yelling, "JT JT JT!"

They weren't tied to anything and as you say, they could have Hopped up and out the DOOR!!
And having Christine continue to have that horrid look on her face ALL The Time (like she smelled some rotten eggs) is getting tiring.

Also, as you said, having the men talk about their plan to snag JT while in the GCPD is stupid

But as in the 'Shawshank Redemption' movie, it is possible to get out thru the sewer (although I know it was just a movie)--LOL

Considering we are in-between writers, and JG is trying to salvage the dumpster-fire storylines, I am giving the Y&R crew a pass. That said, there was a lot of nonsensical, contrived BS logic going on.

It was mostly bad, the women , after JT passed out, the women didn't even try to roll on the floor and scoot their butts to the door, which is a sliding glass door and use their feet to kick out the glass. Then, listening to Rey, OMG, that guy must have a PHD in lying, w/a Masters in embellishment, the story he told Christine, I was JSMH ,he was just as emphatic as the I loves yous to two women. Phyllis, first, what the hell is wrong w/her, no one likes her, wants her around and she will not take no for an answer. Love how Victor spoke to her, I told you i don't want to talk to you. How in the name of God did Billy let that woman follow him, it makes not sense, he should have not let her into Vicki's house in the first place.

In this very same episode we saw JT assault 2 security guards, clubbing them in the head with a gun, and leaving one of them to freeze outside in his underwear. When is JT going to get called out for his own crimes?

JT did in fact abandon Reed. He was alive this entire time and could have come forward and revealed himself. Nobody was stopping him. Instead JT chose not to contact his son. JT's priority was revenge not Reed. He would rather hide in the walls spying on people and singing creepy songs to Katie than visit his own children.

Too bad nobody was allowed to call out JT for all the horrible criminal things he's done. He had a gun pointed at Victoria's head today. I wish Reed could have seen that. JT pointing a gun at his Mother's head. Reed should also watch the video of JT choking and strangling his Mom too.

I totally agree. I made a comment above about that, before I saw your post. JT could have come forward to let his son know that he did not abandon him - but he didn't. It was more important to him to terrorize and retaliate. Vikki didn't intentionally hurt JT and didn't know how to address his father's disappearance with Reed. What JT did was deliberate.

It wasn’t good. Rey ruining the Nick/Billy tandem with his presence. Coven women still acting dumb even for them. I just want it over.

Better than Chipmunk Head Kevin, anything Meggie, and Sharon declaring her babynapper, who donated marrow to a guy in order to kill him and frame Nick, the love of her life.

What??? I absolutely love Kevin the "Chipmunk"! Ha, Ha! He added HUMOR to the soap with his quirkiness. He was smart, intuitive, not bad to look at and he interacted well with almost all the "rich and famous" at GC. Too bad the writers stopped giving him plausible s/l's or plots. I think Mariah and he could certainly start their own Detective Agency,,,they both have the intuition and smarts for it! JMO LOL Elba

I didn't find the episode bad at all. JG was left to fix the mess MY made, was the story ever going to make much sense? No it was not because it was already in a heap of trouble under MY. JG is trying to rectify the best way he can so this story can reach its end finally.

I always knew this storyline would be resolved badly, especially because of the behind the scenes switchups. So I expected it to be rushed and make no sense. At this point I don't care because I just want this storyline to be over so we can all move on to better things.
