    Eric, not just arthritis

Did anyone notice on Thursday episode Eric forgot Hayes’ name. Thinking this is more than an arthritis story coming up for Eric.

Definitely noticed. Either John McCook forgot the name and they decided to leave it in, or they're gearing up for a story about dementia. RJ might notice that there's more going on with his grandfather than arthritis.

And with JMW soon to be off screen for a few months, the Steffy/Liam/Finn triangle will have to be put on hold, thankfully for us viewers. Eric's story could take center stage.

Why does it have to be dementia? I would love a story about Eric just growing older without dementia. Having what some call senior moments, of just forgetting names and things. It's part of the aging process

Yes, it is. However, when you see it on a soap, it's rarely presented as just a senior moment. Inevitably, it will be the start of some sort of dementia related illness.

The actor says he has no intention of retiring. If this was a dementia storyline then at some point the character will die. I don't think that is what is happening here.

I agree. Unless John McCook is leaving, they won't do a dementia storyline.

I definitely noticed and posted about his faux pas in another thread.

So far, he has forgotten more than one thing.
It started with his stapler. He was searching for it, but Ridge had to say the name.
Then the blue stress ball with RJ, and Hayes' name.
    I noticed it right away.

He didn't misplace the stapler, Ridge threw it out. He's getting older. These things happen with older people who don't have dementia as well.

If we were talking real life, I'd agree that the stapler thing and forgetting Hayes' name don't mean anything. But as we all know, this is a soap, so dementia or a medical condition seem likely to me. I guess time will tell.

These symptoms happened to my father when he had brain cancer. Perhaps they're doing a storyline where he has a brain tumor.

I know that he didn't misplace the stapler.
He was searching for it, and when Ridge asked what he was looking for, Eric couldn't remember the word
        stapler.
Ridge said the word, then told Eric that he tossed it because it didn't work anymore.

If he has a medical condition that's getting worse, it would be a good storyline for Taylor to be involved in. Especially if it has something to do with cognitive illness.

Geez, when I was growing up, my dad mixed up all our names. He never had dementia. It's easier for me, I have only one kid, so I remember his name. LOL

With one child you don't have to worry.

My mother also had this problem, there were only two of us, but she got mixed up sometimes. And the same with my nieces, there are two of them and sometimes I make mistakes. No dementia.

And in addition when some want to give different names that we don't hear often, my grandmother who is not used to my nephew's first name (Swann) she took 5 years to say it correctly LOL, because she is not used with English names and articulation.

HA HA! That is funny. My dad would use two other names before he got the right one.

That's true. Would they go there especially if the actor says he's not retiring? I guess we will see.

I hope that Eric is just frustrated because of the arthritis.
I really don't want to see a dementia or Alzheimer's story.
