The dynamic between mother and daughter is so wonderful. The relationships on this show used to feel so genuine. It makes me sad for how things ended for Macy and we will never get Sally back. I really wish Macy was still on

GuidingLite I agree with all that you said. Your story ideas for the Spectras would have been better than what we got.
And I agree the way they broke up Tally, got rid of Sally, then brought her back alone was bad.
Yes it was terrible writing for her at first on YR. I like Adam/Sally. Unfortunately I think the writers want Chelsea with him, otherwise I can’t understand why they killed Chelsea’s potential new love, Rey.
So if Sally loses Adam I would love for her to come back for Thomas.
Yes having Thorne back in love with Brooke was silly, especially since it wasn’t WH and since they didn’t even go anywhere with it! I know Ingo said he had studied the Throoke history when preparing for the part, but then they just dropped that and paired him with Katie, and I think she was still in love with Bill? I can’t even remember, it was that bad.

GuidingLite I actually think the 2017 Spectra revival could have worked with very little modification, if they had included Macy in it and made her the center of the new Spectra clan - I always thought she was the main missing ingredient in that storyline. With her we would have had the direct link to the original Sally Spectra and Spectra Fashions that was missing (yes, CJ was there in the periphery, but he never actually worked at Spectra, and his relationship with Sally was not nearly as well-developed on screen as the Sally/Macy dynamic). She could have made her first public appearance at Spectra's first showing, modeling the show stopper while singing, and revealing herself as the new CEO of Spectra while the Forresters' jaws hit the floor. She could have confronted Shirley and Sally about their scheme to steal from Forrester by making Coco a spy without her knowledge. She could have been the key to keeping Original Sally alive in flashbacks and internal conversations in Macy's mind (there were so many Sally/Macy scenes that they could keep just about any dialogue going using only Sally's lines from past scenes). She could have been a maternal figure to Sally Jr and Coco, counteracting Shirley's bad influence. She could have encouraged Saul in his secret crush on Sally and given him some pointers on how to serenade a potential love interest (and we could have heard Saul singing which I kept hoping we would - the actor was one of THE most talented singers to ever be cast on the show - but we never did). She could have ended up on a collision course with Brooke and Ridge over RJ's involvement with Coco.

AnnMagda I agree. I liked the new Saul, I was hoping he could be paired with Hope when she came back but I think he was gone by then.
I wonder if Bobbie Eakes would be available to return. If so the writers should go for it.

I agree! I am watching the classic B&B episodes as well and the relationship between Sally and Macy is truly a joy to watch. There is such genuine warmth between them - I think it was by far the closest, most well-developed, and most touching mother-daughter relationship this show ever had. There is nothing even remotely like it on B&B today.
And it was really tragic how Sally lost Macy, then got her back only to lose her again. I think killing Macy off the second time was a major mistake. She should have stayed on the show and taken over Spectra Fashions after Sally was gone. And Sally could have been kept alive in Macy's memory.

I am watching B&B on Youtube and Macy just came in to the show. Interesting dynamic between her and Sally because right now, Macy seems to really not like Sally and is spoiled and rude. Cant' wait for the backstory.

It is revealed in the backstory and then they gradually grow closer as they work out their differences and misunderstandings. I think one of the reasons why Macy and Sally's special connection was so heartwarming is because we saw it develop on screen and we saw the characters actually make an effort to work on their relationship and succeeding.

I'm watching the classic episodes on Youtube. I'm on Season 3. Macy has just come on. She's coming across as a spoiled user who has a chip on her shoulder about Sally not being a good enough mother. I'm soooo surprised because Macy has always been one of my favorite characters and she was always truly nice and respectful and loved Sally to no end. Interesting to see how their relationship was in the beginning of the show.

Yes, Macy was very un-Macy-like in the beginning. But I think the show did a pretty good job of explaining her attitude and developing her into the loyal and loving daughter she became. It becomes clear pretty early on that Macy's bratty attitude towards Sally doesn't go very deep but really is just anger because she feels rejected by her mother, and once she discovers that Sally actually does love her very much, that attitude kind of just melts away.Last edited by AnnMagda; May 26, 2022, 01:34 PM.

I remember seeing Macy and Sally for a few minutes while waiting on my beloved "As the World Turns" to come on, and I remember the character of Sally standing and giving long, never ending speeches all the time. They must have had a microphone close to the mouth or nose of the actor who played Macy because I remember hearing her breathing, which was always distracting. I wonder if they ever fixed that situation.

I LOVED OG Sally Spectra! She was always a hoot and her and Stephanie's battles were funny. Her whole history with the Forresters made for good tv. I enjoyed Macy the first go around; not so much when she returned from the dead with her Daddy and her sister; Kimberly. Was not a fan of her being with Deacon.

I agree the show does need a character like Sally. Really, and I say this with utmost respect, but I think the show needs a lot of things.

I think the problem is the writers did try to bring back the Spectras in 2017, without really understanding what made the Spectra group work in the first place. They focused on the superficial stuff like the comedy and the design stealing, and completely missed all the aspects that made the original Spectras so lovable and relatable - the warmth, the heart, the loyalty, the camaraderie.
I think the new Spectra gang became a failure the moment they plotted to make the innocent Coco a spy without her knowledge. That was one line original Sally would NEVER have crossed with Macy. And Grandma Shirley was always more like Tawny Moore than original Sally.

Isn’t Macy still alive though. Remember when Sally Jr referenced her in the present tense as if she was still living? In my mind if Shiela is still living then so is Macy. They should’ve been brought her back for poor Thorne especially after Ally died.

You are right. Sally Jr made several references to Macy in the present tense. And she talked as if Macy knew Sally Jr and Coco as children, even though Coco was RJ's age and would have been born after Macy left the show. It's quite possible for the show to basically ignore Macy's second death like they ignored Sheila supposedly dying on Y&R - by just dismissing it as a rumor.

I missed that. I hope she’s alive
