  • How Could Brooke Not Realize What Ridge Was Saying All Along?

Brooke said today, (paraphrasing) she didn’t realize it would affect Ridge so much to have Deacon around, that Ridge really stood by what he believed and that something terrible was going to happen, and she ignored him. Plus she defended Deacon instead of her own husband. Why, oh why did she do that?
I just can’t believe Brooke is actually that dense. Her priorities are literally absent. She is vapid and thoughtless. I can’t wrap my head around it!

so true, thought the conversation sounded so juvenile. Just figured they could do anything and Ridge ' would always be there, always come back ' . Imo they both sounded like air heads.

I agree. Talk about taking someone for granted! And it has taken this debacle to give Brooke a clue?

It was all good because they thought he had no options...lol

Because it's all about Brooke...and Hope, her favorite child.

EXACTLY! Brooke tramples all over Ridge's feelings to please Hope. He said that if Hope really wants to have a relationship with Deacon, she should move off the property. True, Brooke is the one who owns it, but Ridge is her husband and he lives there, too, so he should get to have a say.For a moment there, Hope did decide that it might be best if she,Liam and the kids moved to their own place. But Brooke could not stand the thought of her precious baby moving out, even though she was still going to stay in L.A. Brooke, your baby is a grown woman, a wife and a mother,,with a job. She and Liam have money, they can move to a nice place, they would not be living in some slum. They could still see each other all the time. Only Deacon would not be welcome at Brooke & Ridge's home. So Hope gave in and stayed.

Also, Brooke put Hope and the kids over her husband when it came to NYE plans. Ridge invited her to coime to Paris with him. She declined, wanting to spend it with Hope and the kids. Sheesh, she just spent Christmas with them, it wouldn't have harmed them for Brooke to go to Paris.

Finallky, I think Brooke still has the hots for Freaky Deaky, but refuses to admit it to herself.

Brooke and Hope had a smidgen of perspective today regarding Ridge's feelings about Deacon, but, in their usual way, they enabled each other to not truly accept blame. Ridge was consistent and clear about his feelings, and Brooke and Hope shut him down and ignored him.

Brooke and Hope are being introduced to the concept of actions and consequences. They both play with the idea that what they did and said regarding Deacon may be having an effect on them. It didn't occur to them that Ridge's feelings should be considered. I wonder if Hope will make these admissions and apologies to Ridge.

But then they tell each other they are not to be blamed.

Well it’s not from a lack of Ridge saying so. I don’t think Brooke really considers anyone but herself. Maybe Hope to a point but even there it’s because she sees Hope as an extension of herself.
Brooke is a narcissist. Ridge can talk until he’s blue in the face and Brooke still can’t see it, when he decides every time to let it go and things will be different it’s SMH . Brooke has her own reality as does Hope. Ridge hasn’t forgotten all she’s done but he always thinks it will be different.

Vapid and thoughtless are good but "Self centered" and "Narcissistic" should be included.

Well why she would she realize how her actions affect her husband when she always end up getting her way. It's not like this is the first time. She took off her ring when Ridge refused to give his grandson to Hope. Though it led Ridge to Shauna, at the end, not only did Hope get Douglas but she also got Ridge back. The only thing is Taylor isn't Shauna or Katie especially now that Taylor is in better place and appears stronger (unlike the Taylor that would go down Brooke's feet to beg her over something that had nothing to do her) Now she realizes this is a different ball game where she may loose and for good for real this time.

Deacon is Hope's father. If Ridge can't deal with him being a part of his daughter's life then Brooke and Hope are much better off without Ridge. Honestly, I'm baffled as to why Brooke or Taylor wanted him in the first place. I see nothing worth fighting for.

He wasn't exactly against Deacon being part of Hope's life, he was against him being part of Brooke's life knowing who Deacon is and he was proven to be right. Hope and Deacons relationships didnt have to include Brooke but because she had no regard for her husband's feelings or concerns she wouldn't set boundaries or at least try to come up with a compromise. I didn't watch but didn't Deacon show up at the main house to do karate with Brooke claiming he thought Ridge would be at work? Why would Deacon think he could do that with Brooke knowing how Ridge felt about him. Hope lives at the cabin and yet Deacon walked in out of the main house any how pleases. They surely made Ridge look like the house only belongs to Brooke and he was only a tenant who had no say about what happens there.

From day 1 of Deacon's return Ridge wanted him gone. That's what I saw. It was extremely controlling, and I hope Brooke sees that and doesn't take Ridge back when he eventually comes crawling back to her. She deserves better. So does Taylor, but she will always be Ridge's doormat.

Yes, Ridge was pushy about Deacon. But what was up with Brooke telling him that it was HER house?! They're married! She's been disrespecting him ever since Deacon showed up.

While I see Brooke as Hope's biggest cheerleader, she often chooses to ignore Hope's opinion and best interest. If she truly loved Hope, she would never have pushed her to have sex when she publicly announced that she wanted to remain a virgin until she was married. She wouldn't have taken up with Bill, the guy who made it his mission to prevent his son from being with her. She wouldn't have pushed Hope to go after a married man or to take him back after repeatedly cheating on her.

Brooke uses Hope to fulfill her own desires and repeat many of her own behaviors. At one point, Hope spoke out against her mother's reputation; she's on track to repeat it.

That’s exactly what Brooke does . Even close parents and children need some privacy and respect for that privacy.
I can understand relying on each other in various ways but I agree she’s embarrassed Hope seems numb or suffocated by it.
