  • Lack of unpredictability on B&B

I think this is why it's so hard to watch B&B. You watch Days and GH, they both have a level of unpredictability with them. But we all know the outcome to the Brooke/Ridge story, he'll forgive her and it'll be boring. The Paris story we all know Carter is going to be the bad guy again. Why can't they write a story where the ending isn't predictable? Lack of balance and same repetitive lines.

IDK how many of you all watch Days and GH but both soaps are great right now.

Days of Our Lives is fantastic right now. Every week, there are new and exciting developments that push the story forward. B&B hasn't been exciting in years. The last time I was surprised and hooked was when Sheila returned in 2017, which unfortunately didn't amount to much and was the last decent year of the show. It's been downhill since.

Very good post!! I don't know why it is like that these days... it wasn't always.

Can you imagine how much better the Beth story could have been if we didn't KNOW for 8 months if that was for sure Beth or not? .

We knew the entire story the whole time and spent months amd months watching Hope cry and just waiting until more and more people overhead it. What if we didn't know if it was Beth or the other woman's baby?

What if Phobeth got sick and Steffy had to take her to the hospital? And had to try and find out more fake medical history from Flo, her "birth mother"? What if Steffy demanded a DNA and we didn't find out if it was Beth or not until that moment?

When you get a week or two or three going over the same thing yea it’s monotonous . The writing is lazy and unimaginative.
I week of episodes and in about ten minutes you can find anything you need to know about what is going on. Stale.

I think you meant monotonous. And yeah, it is.

The intended emotional stakes in this Brooke kissing Deacon on New Yr's story seem to be all about everyone's out to get poor Brooke and will it break up her and Ridge? Steffy's m. o in all this seems to be wanting to saddle her mother with Ridge to play rebound again. And I think we all know how it's going to go down. No surprise. But Days is just as predictable in many ways including which couples like EJ/Sami, and John/Marlena will always end up together no matter what. It doesn't matter what anyone does on that show, there are never any consequences. At least Bold doesn't pimp serial killers.

But Days has characters you could be friends with (the only character I'd trust on this show is Finn!), very few repetitive lines or scenes, several SLs going on at the same time and I'm fine with some couples like Kayla and Patch or John and Marlena staying together. Creatively the other three soaps are much better than BnB and have been for a long time. I watch all four so that there is always some SL I'm invested in.

They don't know how to do anything but predictable.

Carter/Quinn was definitely something I wasn't expecting. But so glad they'd happened. Wished they were still happening. For that short period of time, I was actually enjoying the show.

Unpredictability has definitely been missing from this show, along with hot, steamy and sexy. That was Carter/Quinn. Not sure we will ever get that again. Not as long as Bell is running things, since he doesn't like anyone outshining his pets.

I liked Quinn & Carter too! But that was interesting so Bell got rid of that!!

Here here!! We already know how this nonsense with Brooke & Ridge will end - it will be all Shelia's fault and Brooke will go tell of Taylor, Steffy and Thomas.

What I don't get is now is a great time to bring back a few fresh faces - and not for Paris because no one cares about her. I'm talking about Lil D and Erica. Hope is interested in her father but not this long lost brother - who her brother was trying to legally adopt and her mother was so fond of him she gave him a few shares of FC when she was in charge??

Then of course we've got Erica - who when we last saw Shelia she & Erica were pretty close - Erica obviously was still talking to her mother and blabbed all James business to her. Why not have Steffy bring Erica to town to meet her brother?

Finn and Hope are so obsessed with relationships with their parents BUT not these long lost siblings - who as far as we know were raised by Deacon & Shelia for a good chunk of their lives. When we met Erica/Mary she was what 17 and we know Deacon left town with Lil D and he was being a good father to him.

I'm find ignoring all the Y&R stuff but these are characters that it would make sense they would come to town! Instead of say this tired triangle of Ridge/Brooke/Taylor or the boring triangle of Steffy/Liam/Hope.

And I've been saying for a LONG time Bell should bring Karen back to town with all this nonsense with Douglas & Thomas. Recast Karen if JJ doesn't want to come back. She can stir up trouble for Hope, Thomas and even Bill!

Actually her name is Mary Warwick and yes she need to be brought back to meet her brother Dr John Finnegan. Also have her love life explored having her in a romance with Thomas.

I have to agree 100%. I found B&B very predictable with repetitive lines and dialogues. What the show offers right now is not working to really make me glued to my screen. What I find the most irritating is that the show does not invest in its own past leaving so many key characters off screen. Felicia, Kristen, Thorne, Rick and Maya, Bridget, Nick (who played a huge part in Brooke's life), then the Spectras. Characters as Flo or even Shauna won't do it for me. Sorry. Even Finn turned out to be incredibly boring and predictable. Jack and Li? Actors and characters with huge potential which are also beginning to fade because the head writer has no idea how to write a soap.
Over the last couple of years, all I keep hearing from one character after another is "I've changed". If Brooke starts to say it, I swear I'm gonna throw up in my mouth.
What I also find sad is that Bell keeps hiring big names and it'd probably be great if after some time, he hadn't lost the idea on what to write for them. The show is packed with characters - some in my opinion totally unnecessary for the audience, others commenting other people's live to everybody around and the same characters over and over again doing the same stuff over and over again.
Bell doesn't know to balance the stories that his father did back in the day. That makes the show simply boring and predictable. And it's sad, because you can complain about the Sci fi writing on Days, or storylines on Y&R and GH, but B&B really is not in the same league as these shows. I'd go further and admit that Passions was way better and exciting to watch in the past as B&B is right now.
I really hope that one day, Bell himself says "I've changed" and shocks us in a way, we will be loving B&B again.

Hmmmm what will happen?? Will Steffy be right and her father will go back to her mohter?? NO. Is Ridge going to leave Brooke for more than 5 min??? NO. I'd rather Steffy, Taylor & Thomas lean in and remind Ridge that he's put up with this crap for years so quit complaining and go home to your wife before she accidentally has sex with a UPS or FedEx man!

I don't think Finn knows he has siblings. Bell clearly isn't invested in this story and only made Sheila Finn's birth mother for shock value only. Look how long it took for Finn to learn who his father is, whom he had in his life the entire time. One would think that would be his first question, followed by do I have any brothers or sisters. As I said, Bell isn't invested and then Finn's story became Hope's story. It appears that Finn's story was dropped in favor of more unnecessary Logan drama.
