This is something I can’t understand. How can a couple that’s “meant to be” be so easily manipulated into breaking up over and over and over again without learning from the past? It comes to a point where it’s just not believable. Knowing everything they know, how can they not trust each other so quickly that they don’t even question the things that happen?
Also looking back to the early days when Hope first arrived on the scene, she was with Oliver, they were happy and Oliver was completely committed to her. It took one mistake and she wasn’t able to forgive Oliver, and the mistake was clearly an accident, a case of mistaken identity. Hope decided to forgive her mother and accept her back in her life given her scandalous past, but wasn’t able to forgive Oliver and give him the benefit of the doubt? Logically the only person who deserved another chance was Oliver.
Then Liam comes along at a time where Hope was broken, fragile, vulnerable, her perception of reality was smashed. I can only conclude that Liam took advantage of Hope. He told her he loved her a few days after meeting her, she turned to Liam as an escape from reality.
I think Hope has some serious mental health issues and she lives in this fantasy world she has created for herself where Liam is her knight in shining armour that saved her. It’s far easier to live in that fantasy land than to face the reality that her father abandoned her, her mother took her first love from her (intentionally or not, it was a pattern for Brooke) and she grew up with chaos and instability in her life.
Liam is a user and abuser and Hope is his victim. But at this point I think Hope feels safe with him because of the fantasy world she created for herself. The manipulations and interference from others is a convenient excuse for them to both stay in this toxic relationship. Brooke pushes Hope in Liam’s direction because she’s an emotional abuser herself and she wants Hope to be in this fantasy world, because she fears if her eyes are opened, she will lose her daughter. She only cares about herself.
Tell me I’m wrong. I’d like to see other points of view on this.
