  • What bothers me about Liam & Hope

This is something I can’t understand. How can a couple that’s “meant to be” be so easily manipulated into breaking up over and over and over again without learning from the past? It comes to a point where it’s just not believable. Knowing everything they know, how can they not trust each other so quickly that they don’t even question the things that happen?

Also looking back to the early days when Hope first arrived on the scene, she was with Oliver, they were happy and Oliver was completely committed to her. It took one mistake and she wasn’t able to forgive Oliver, and the mistake was clearly an accident, a case of mistaken identity. Hope decided to forgive her mother and accept her back in her life given her scandalous past, but wasn’t able to forgive Oliver and give him the benefit of the doubt? Logically the only person who deserved another chance was Oliver.

Then Liam comes along at a time where Hope was broken, fragile, vulnerable, her perception of reality was smashed. I can only conclude that Liam took advantage of Hope. He told her he loved her a few days after meeting her, she turned to Liam as an escape from reality.

I think Hope has some serious mental health issues and she lives in this fantasy world she has created for herself where Liam is her knight in shining armour that saved her. It’s far easier to live in that fantasy land than to face the reality that her father abandoned her, her mother took her first love from her (intentionally or not, it was a pattern for Brooke) and she grew up with chaos and instability in her life.

Liam is a user and abuser and Hope is his victim. But at this point I think Hope feels safe with him because of the fantasy world she created for herself. The manipulations and interference from others is a convenient excuse for them to both stay in this toxic relationship. Brooke pushes Hope in Liam’s direction because she’s an emotional abuser herself and she wants Hope to be in this fantasy world, because she fears if her eyes are opened, she will lose her daughter. She only cares about herself.

Tell me I’m wrong. I’d like to see other points of view on this.

Because they never were about love. Their feelings are so shallow that they don't even bother making the very least effort to try to make it work, they immediatly give up on each other and turn to someone else. She can't forgive Oliver but forgives Liam over and over again, This is not about Liam, This is Hope vs Steffy. Liam is a non factor.Steffy kicked Rick to the curb for what he did to her but there she is taking Liam's crap. At least Steffy has the excuse of hitting her head. What's Hope's? Liam is an emotional abuser, but so are Hope and Brooke.

Hope and Liam had a puppy crush. Then for Hope it became about "not let Steffy win!" (Hope's words). Liam has a Rescue Ranger complex that HOpe plays and in the beginning was guilt ridden by Brooke remaining him he took young, naive Hope's virginity. Hope offered it up not out of love but to take Liam's "wife's power away".

What bothers is me is their happiness only last until the wedding day is over. They need to stick together for at least a year. They might last a year this time with the pandamic going on. Neither of them act their age. They need to grow up.

Hope's ultimate dream is the perfect wedding. Beyond that she doesn't know how to deal with the reality of marriage and that's why she and Liam can never stick at their relationship, they have unrealistic expectations of each other.

  • #4
I don’t think Hope and Liam have ever really loved each other. As you all have stated they never trust each other and leave each other at the drop of a hat. Hope definitely has serious mental issues that have never been dealt with. She lets Brooke manipulate every detail of her life, which is why she is the complete mess she is now! I can’t imagine why anyone would believe they are meant to be

You can understand Hope turning to her mother for guidance when she was young and entering into her first relationship but Hope's not a girl any more but she still does pretty much everything her mother tells her. Brooke enables Hope by not being firm with her even when she knows Hope is doing something wrong she's more likely to go along with it.

LOL at Oliver and Brooke's wall boink being a "mistake." Oliver should have known that his virginal girlfriend Hope would never have done something as crazy as have sex outside during a party. And don't even get me started on Brooke. This woman couldn't tell the difference between a 20 year old young man and her husband, whom she had been sleeping with for years.

You’re right, Oliver should have known, but let’s look at the facts from his perspective. She was wearing Hope’s necklace, she said the exact words in his ear that Hope told him she would say, and he had waited for a long time. You don’t know someone in just a few months, so to assume that Oliver should have known without a doubt that Hope would not want it to happen that way is unfair. Oliver even tired to take off the mask, and Brooke didn’t let him. It’s far more plausible that Brooke knew what she was doing and used the necklace and the words Hope would say to Oliver to make it happen knowing that Ridge would forgive her and believe her story. You can say Oliver shouldn’t have gone through with it but he was a victim in that situation and Hope was too immature to realise what the situation was. Oliver believed it was Hope and that should be good enough for her. She forgave her disgusting mother with her disgusting history, knowing how she was conceived, but couldn’t see that Oliver was foolish but not unfaithful.

What I don't like about Hope and Liam is they have no chemistry. They don't belong together at all. They can never make it work even when no one is around to mess it up they mess it up all on their own. They just don't belong together. Liam puts Hope on a pedestal when she has done some horrible things. Plus, Hope is an annoying person who acts like she is perfect when she is Brooke Jr.

Hope and Liam are the worst soap couple. They're beyond boring. Hope is so immature, and they both put each other on a pedestal, but so quick to dump each other over misunderstandings and poor communication.

Everything about them bothers me.. together or seperate. They belong together in that shabby shack with their stolen child and fake wedding. Not an ounce of class.
Ganging up on Thomas with Douglas in tow was the last straw. Steffy helping them was too. I'll get over it when she tells both Lope dopes where to go.

Yeah that just made no sense. Steffy would never do that to her brother. It really annoys me how no one was there for Thomas after Caroline died. Hope was there for Douglas but who reached out to Thomas? Who’s ever actually supported Thomas? He made mistakes but people forced him over the edge in my opinion. His mother has become a wreck, Brooke who used to love Thomas turned her back on him, Hope was happy to use his son to get over her loss but didn’t want Thomas. Ridge is only there because of his guilt but what does he actually do for Thomas?

What bothers me about Liam is that he had forgiven Steffy for her indiscretion with Bill by sending her a florist shop full of white roses with all those

notes of love for her and Kelly and forgiving her and wanting to make a life with his family. Then Bill lied to Wyatt, Wyatt told that lie to Liam. Liam

believed that lie without even asking Steffy if it were true. He trusted his father to be telling the truth but not trusting Steffy. It made zero sense.

And of course, as others said, he trusts Hope to never lie. He holds Steffy to a much higher standard than Hope.

Hope is more sly than Liam gives her credit for. She lied to Steffy when she returned home. She realized that she wanted Liam for herself while

she was telling Steffy she would help Steffy get Liam back. Hope thought she killed Thomas and lied to Liam and Ridge. She was developing

feelings for Thomas while she was trying to get full custody of Douglas from Thomas. But she never told Liam what was she was up to.

When Hope admitted that she thought she had killed Thomas, Liam forgave her without hesitation.

Hope is the eternal damsel in distress and we all know of Liam's saviour complex. One could just as well argue that Liam loves Hope's need to be saved more than Hope herself and that's why he puts up with all the crap she puts him through. Liam begged Hope not to marry Thomas. She did it anyway. He wasn't mad at Hope only at Thomas. I think there is something very toxic about a relationship when one person dumps you all the time and you keep running back to that person and forgive them whatever they have done.

@lovelyrita - Hope is a LIAR and the fact that Bell never calls Hope out on it or that Liam never seems to find out or realize this is part of what bothers many about LOPE. And when she is found out she some how is the victim. I.E - Thomas made her shove him to his death. GMAB.

B-Hold Agreed. Hope is a liar. But her lies get glossed over or justified by Brooke and Liam, himself. Therefore, she becomes victimized at every point. Steffy gets blamed (Hope blames Steffy) or Hope, Liam and Brooke blame Thomas for Hope lying. Someone else is always to blame; Hope is always the victim. And sometimes her lies are portrayed by Bell as so subtle that we tend to doubt that she lied or that she was justified to lie. And Brooke is always there to clean up the messes and Liam is always there to make sure she is forgiven.

I think who Liam believed was Wyatt. I remember he went and confronted Bill and said he was lying but he still wouldn't listen to Steffy. He's a moron and makes no sense.

Yes, you're right. Liam believed his brother. And Wyatt was told by Steffy and Wyatt didn't believe Steffy. But
Liam puts so much faith and trust in Hope and I hope some day he will see it's not warranted.

I agree that it was a quick wedding, but I don't think it quite compares to Hope's stunt with Wyatt.

That's actually a thing that disturbs me. People marrying after dating for only a very short time. Yes, I know it is a soap. But Pam and Charlie are together for ages and they still didn't get a wedding

all three of them have done some very dumb stuff...which is one of the reasons why this triangle sucks so much. Let's forget all logic and throw X and Y together again when in RL Y would say "No way, not that way, not again"

Sharkswin Steam is abusive, destructive , toxic...lope is shallow and toxic...anything that involves Liam or Hope is toxic, they destroy everyone around them. And if you want rebound, you have Hope getting knocked up by a still very married Liam barely an hr after he sent flowers to his wife wanting to reconcile. And it took a lie to get him to rebound.Liam proposed to Hope but to bed her unlike his proposals to Steffy.

That is exactly what Liam is about. He'll take either or both if he could. I think (when he said Steffy is his family) what he really wants is to have them both. My sons father is not my family and my husbands children's mother is not his family. Our children are. We are the family. Not our exes
