The parts of the episode where Hope was being chased by the reporters, at a speeded -up pace, with the background song of"Last Train to Clarksville" by the Monkees , made me laugh! I don't think it was meant to, but it seemed so ridiculous. Especially considering the reason she was running; that certainly would not be funny for anybody. Think it should have been portrayed differently so it showed her terror....your thoughts?

I found it hilarious also. It reminded me of the Keystone Kops. I wasn't watching back then so I have ask. Why were they chasing her?

I am not sure as I missed the first part but I think it was Bill who set it up so Liam could see that she couldn't handle pressure and therefore was not "suitable" to be a Spencer wife. Then he would want Steffy. I think Hope had issues in the past with not being able to handle pressure well and started taking pills or maybe drinking.

The press had found out that she was sleeping with Liam, who at the time was still married to Steffy. Since that was a direct contradiction to her "wait for marriage" stance she took as spokesperson for Hope for the Future, the press had a field day with it. They began hounding her about how she was being a hypocrite and was "the other woman", she started taking pills, etc. I'm not a Hope fan at all, so I felt she deserved it, In typical Logan fashion, Hope's indiscretions were never her fault.

I found it to be hilarious as well and I think it was meant to be for some comic relief!I will say that KM has a humorous side to her that AN really doesn't or at least not yet that I have seen! Nothing personal against AN, I just think that KM has a little more range that I have seen.

CattiPatti Agree, although I tend to think it’s just the way Hope has been written over the past few years. She’s a mope on her good days and a tearful sad sack on her bad days. I thought the Last Train to Clarksville scene today was funny and was very typical of scenes they really did on The Monkees tv show back in the day. It was good for a laugh.

I was always baffled by the comedic chase scenes backed by the Monkees song. Supposedly the pressure of the paparazzi was what lead Hope, at the end of today's episode, to break her promise to Liam and take pills which she knew were unsafe and not prescribed for her. The lighthearted nature of the chase didn't transform smoothly, in my opinion, into the serious mental breakdown which followed.
I also laughed at the last two minutes as the paparazzi was apparently taking hundreds of flash photos of closed window blinds while calling out her name. Even they are not that stupid.Last edited by RedheadTeacher; May 13, 2020, 09:04 AM.
