The CJ character showed up 19 times, and Lindsey Godfrey aka Caroline came back for 18 appearances.

In 2017 there was no Hope or Douglas. This was the year that Steam got married in Australia and Brill were married to each other, after gas lighting Katie. Bill wanted his Skye, and Sally was dating Thomas and starting Spectra with Grams, Darlita and Saul. Bill set fire to the Building and told Tomcat the lie that Caroline was sick so he wouldn't design for Spectra and leave Sally. Liam blackmailed Bill out of Spencer, and gave Sally the 50 million dollar building and she fell for the Waffle king. Nicole started to wander if she made a mistake by giving up Lizzie. Maya knew it and sent her to Europe.

Rome Flynn, and Reign Edwards wanted to leave the show and Bell wrote them out. Pierson needed out so Bell got Tally in
NY happy. CH was out of the show, to make room for Hope, until he decidedd to try Wyatt for her.

In Nov 2017 Steffy slept with Bill.

I started watching again in the summer of 2017 after a 10 year hiatus! I returned only because my girl Sheila Carter made a come back, but she was only on for a short time (unfortunately)! So, yes I would say it was a much better show and better written in 2017 because it held my interest and made me still want to watch! I have only been holding on by a thread these days and wonder why I still watch most days!

A 1000x better. I mean we had some real business storylines going on at the time. We had Quinn/Ridge/Eric/Brooke, Steam getting married while Sally was egging on Steffy as CEO of FC. Then Thomas wanting his own thing and Ridge focusing on FC after Brooke left him for Bill and they got married. Bill doing his usual dastardly things to get what he wanted and remember 2017 was the start of Wyatt and Katie as well.

Nicole/Maya/Rick adoption storyline with Zende wanting more of a family.

The show now have devolved into a mess, we literally will have 1 storyline going on and nothing making sense.

Much better!!! So much going on and it was fun to watch!! Since Hope made her return there has been nothing worth watching. Even the baby swap was a bomb. No suspense at all,and one story at a time that drags on forever.

Ah, that's right... Wyatt and Katie happened! I hadn't watched regularly in YEARS, thought to come back to see what that would look like and was hooked. I wish TPTB allowed them to stay together. That would've really pissed Bill off to be replaced with a younger Spencer model and watch the relationship thrive.

As far as the last decade is concerned, 2010 and 2017 were two of the show's best years. Regarding 2017, that had Liam and Steffy's Australia wedding, which coincided with the 30th anniversary, the revival of Spectra Fashions, Sheila Carter's return, and Bill and Steffy's night together. It was quite an eventful year!

Yes I forgot to put that in my original post. It was the start of Katie and Wyatt. They were seeing each together as friends with benefits, and fell in love. Whi!e Tally were in love until Bills lie.

We are just 4 months into 2020, but I have the impression it is again more like 2017, not one SL dominating but more going on and more characters being shown.


2017 - the Leffy wedding that was more fan service for that couple without any drama. The only drama after it, when Bridge broke up because of Ridge's and Quinn's continued kissing
2020 - the Lope wedding (again fan service), while the real drama happened before that with the Zoe/Thomas wedding drama (and Douglas being used by Thomas and refusing to accept Zoe)

instead of Steffy/Sally scenes, we had Brooke/Quinn drama (demanding that Eric breaks up with Quinn, Quinn spiking Brooke's drink...) - and another result the video reveal that lead to Bill/Katie drama, Bridge drama...

we have the Ridge/Shauna/Brooke (triangle) drama continuing

we have Flo/Wyatt/Sally (and Penny involved)


I haven's yet seen the new ranking with March included, but considering that Lope have not been seen for the last 3 weeks and that the focus is now on Brooke/Ridge/Shauna (Quinn/Eric) and Flo/Wyatt/Sally (Penny), (and likely Bill/Katie) it should still be that balanced.

Wow, look at the humongous difference from JMW at 171 episodes and CH at 123 episodes! If compared apples to apples which means young females to young females, the show IMO was definitely not better in 2017..considering Bell had already killed off or got rid of MOST of the young females including Aly, Sasha, Nicole, Ivy, and Maya.

At least now, we have Hope, Steffy, Sally, Flo, and Zoe ..much more balanced in the young females group. Yes, Hope was the focus for quite a while but so was Steffy back in 2016/2017, but now Bell is allowing Sally to shine in a major s/l.

Way better, no love triangles. The show had competing fashion houses and fun catfights between Sally and Steffy. Sheila returned in a shocking storyline with Quinn.

While I didn't love all the 2017 storylines, I think the significant thing about the episode count is that there aren't the dramatic differences in airtime between, say, the top five actors/characters that there have been for the last couple of years. And even fairly minor characters got more than a handful of episodes for the whole year.

The answer is yes. The bold and the beautiful was the best in 2017. Because Kimberlin returned as Sheila Carter.
