One of my biggest disappointments with the show is that they never gave Ron Raines’ Alan his own love interest. Chris Berneau’ Alan and Hope were before I really started watching the show. I believe CB’s Alan did truly fall in love with Reva, but we all knew they were just angst for Jeva, and later Alan/Reva pairings felt more like he was obsessed with having her and/or beating Josh. It got tiring after awhile and with Alan constantly getting Josh’s sloppy seconds. I think with CB’s Alan Reva had developed genuine feelings for him, but the Daniel Pilon recast was horrendous with absolutely no chemistry with him and Kim Zimmer or any of the Spauldings. Ron and Kim worked well together, but he had better chemistry with Annie. So what do you think: was Reva someone he really loved or simply obsessed with having?

WalnutGirl that’s true. I would have loved seeing Reva and Alan become a real couple long enough for her to move into the Spaulding mansion and mix it up with Alexandra and Amanda.

I am tonight reading this thread, and a big fat NO.
I am one who always was able to feel a sense of:
-Owning her.
-Wanting to control her.
-No real AMOR... NADA ... no "real love" nothing.

I was 7 or 8 when Alan and Reva were a thing (yes, I loved the show at that age) but looking back, I wouldn't say he loved her as much as he loved the idea of her. He couldn't control her and I think that is what drove his desire for her. If she wouldn't have been such a strong woman, I don't think he would have looked twice.

The only one that Alan ever loved was Phillip. I don't think he truly loved anyone else but himself. When Chris Bernau (sp?) portrayed Alan, there "might" have been a time that he "cared" for Reva, but I believe it was more out of a "trophy love" than anything else.
