Why don't TPTB lean into Carly being a Spencer?

Given that this legacy family is down to basically a tiny branch now, I would love to see something new for Carly and her offspring, being the last of the Spencers. Bobbie comes on once in a blue moon, Lulu is comatose, Lucky is an absent dad, who knows what the heck happened to Valerie, and Lucas is a ghost.

Carly being a long-lost Spencer was such a HUGE part of her story when she came on the scene. Luke never stopped calling her Caroline. There is such a rich history with that family, and so many stories could be told, that would bring back viewers. How refreshing would it be to see Carly and her kin in something that has zero to do with anything Sonny for a change?

That would be great, so much better than her potentially getting involved with ELQ and the Quartermains. It is sad to see how diluted the Spencer legacy has begun. It is rarely brought up that Rocco, Charlotte, and Aidan are Spencers by birth and Cameron and Jake by adoption.

It kinda reminds me of what I call the Brewer/Hardy phenomenon. From all I hear, the show was built on the stories of Nurse Jessie Brewer and the Hardy doctors. Today, most viewers would have no idea who any of them were except for the occasional holiday episode mention.

All I know of Jessie is from that flashback episode they did where Luke recalled killing his mother. Rebecca Herbst played a young Jessie and Jason Thompson played a young Dr. Hardy treating her at the ER. As someone who never knew those characters, that was so intriguing!

GH always does better when they lean into their history. I wanna see Carly as Bobbie or Luke 2.0, teaming up with Aunt Laura to fight the Cassadines. Not the grandma obsessing over Wiley.

My favorite female and male characters were Jessie Brewer and Dr. Steve Hardy, MD. I also liked cranky older nurse Lucille as she was a true to life character with her crankiness. I was so happy for Lucille when she finally fell for patient Al Weeks, married for the first time and exited the show.

I've always wanted more Spencer time on GH. I loved L&L (until I found out about the rape) and Barbra Jean has always been one of my favorites. Carly never really felt much like she was apart of the family. I suppose it's because of her history with Bobbie, Luke Spencer has done a hell of alot worse than Carly so I have no idea why she couldn't have been written more involved with them.

I also find it interesting that she never went by Spencer for her last name. I guess she never *felt* like a Spencer. I also wished her father wasn't Durant. First off that storyline about her dad wasn't about her relationship with him it was about Sonny. So I would love for them to retcon her who her father is, my hope is that they could make her dad a Cassidine, I know it would take some maneuvering but just look at the Willow/Nina stuff that came out of left field! Besides having Carly be cousins to Alexis, Val and Nik would be hilarious. ?

They should recast Lucky and have Lulu wake up. That would bring Spencer's back into the fold.

So much of the show revolves around Carly it doesn’t make sense that Bobbie is so seldom seen.

Spencer’s aren’t involved in anything and that includes her as she as a corinthos and Bobby isn’t on hardly ever. It would be nice for Carly to embrace her Spencer roots, as a Carly fan I would my rather see her doing Spencer stuff instead of quartermain stuff.

I would love that OP.The Spencer’s was one of my favorite families. I loved to hear Luke call Carly Caroline and to make sure she didn’t forget her roots.

I want to see them all return.We barely see Bobby or Lucas. I would love to have Lucky back to fight for Liz. I don’t have a problem with Carly father because like you said;that was all about Sonny. I like that she and Laura are close because she is her neice.The Spencer’s are so needed.Bring Val and Lulu back.So agree with everything you said OP. I can’t get into this court mess because Nina is everywhere in just about all stories. I get they want her to be the centerpiece of the show,but too much is too much,especially because she is not a vet on GH and sort of new. I want Carly in a new direction away from anything Sonny and Nina because she can carry her own story and don’t need anyone to prop her.

if it is this ELQ story,than so be it. I want to see where she stand in this story.Please cut all ties with anything Sonny and Nina please soapgods.

I wish they would to, I love Bobbi and Lucas and Lucky and Valarie, it would be nice to see the Spencers stick up for each other the way Bobbi and Luke did.

Oh that's right, I totally forgot that Lulu and Carly used to be besties! They were super close and then had that big falling out - I don't remember all the details but it had to do with Lulu supporting Dante over Carly/Sonny.

I know they eventually got over it, but it was never the same.

I'm not sure what lean into means. I think Carly acts like a Spencer. Spencer's are scrappy and smart and land on their feet and that exactly describes Carly.

True but Carly never had any family scenes with the Spencers. She rarely had scenes with Lucky, and her scenes with Luke were limited. She has a relationship with Lulu but that slowly turned into nothing. Why is Lucas or that awful Valerie?

TPTB have no interest in the Spencer family; look no further than the way they treated the character Valerie, or the fact that Lucky and Lulu are off the canvas and have been for a long time.
Other families are only important to the extent they can act as plot points for the Corinthos family
