When is Lucy going to get a big storyline?

Can we expect the writers to give Juicy Lucy a major story? Maybe put her back with Scott for old times sake and give. A big story?

Lynn Herring is a wonderful actress, capable of more than just being the second coming of Lucille Arnaz.
I would have thought after all her years with the show, she would be treated better by the GH audience than just a clown.

I love Lucy, but I feel like if she were on more, I wouldn't love her as much. Even if LH wanted to be on more, I don't trust the current writers to come up with a decent story for her to be anything more than just supporting others.

Lucy is the most popular character in General Hospital history, but sometimes things just don't work out for full-time engagement. I'd love to see Lucy take over Dan's position as chief administrator of the hospital, and bring Sonny to his knees once and for all.

Lucy may be popular, especially with long-time viewers - but I really doubt she is the most popular in GH history. Considering people like Steve Hardy, Jessie, Lila Q, Laura, Robert, and Alan to name a few

I find Lucy often more annoying than entertaining. She's good comic relief with Martin, though I'd rather see him have a bigger role in the show than just be her f*** buddy.

She and Jon Lindstrom (and Kin Shriner) literally carried the series, Port Charles.

Lucy indeed had many big stories in the '80s and '90s and Lynn Herring, Jon Lindstrom and Kin Shriner did indeed carry Port Charles. Lucy's been great in comic and over-the-top stories (see marrying Alan Quartermaine in a red dress) and she's also shown great empathy and self-sacrifice (the story where she acted as the surrogate for Dominique).

A lot of posters have pointed out that Lynn likes her life on her ranch and probably isn't interested in being on set full-time. But I do think that the writers aren't interested in older characters, or rather, they are interested in only a few older characters. There's a big bloc of characters who are in their late 40s-50s (or should be) who get a lot of airtime, and Alexis and Anna still get stories, but Felicia has only recently been able to do anything on screen; Mac is rarely seen except as a supporting plan; Robert Scorpio is the DA but almost never seen in stories about high-profile cases, like Trina's; Bobbie just got trotted out to spill a drink on Nina but when did we see her before that?

I saw folks on another thread speculating that Lucy could end up being Esme's mother through her past relationship with Kevin/Ryan. I don't know if it would make sense from a timeline perspective but it would certainly give the character more to do.
