When Nina was whining about how big meanie Bobbie threw a drink in her face, why didn't Maxie demand to know what she did to provoke it? She might consider Nina "family" (ugh) but has she forgotten whose heart beats in her chest?

I watched that scene between Bobbie and Nina. Bobbie threw some verbal punches too. It wasn't all Nina.Last edited by Wanda Wolek; May 24, 2022, 02:53 PM.

I understand the OP's point. My answer to that is Maxie isn't stupid. She would know what side Bobbie would be on.
-
-
Bobbie would be on Carly's side, but the wine in the face was a response to Nina. So it would have made sense for Maxie to ask why she threw wine in the face.
-
-
Maxie is ridiculous now. I'm not sure why she is even on the show anymore. She has lost all of her spunk. After what Nina did to Sonny's family. Come on Maxie fI get family is family but you have known Carly and her kids for years. How could anyone forgive Nina for this. How could anyone support Nina after she did this.

-
-
The writers have these characters bend and twist their history so that Nina can be the victim. I don't get why? I mean if they made Nina an outright villain it would be far more fun. Now we just see her whinge, complain and wail about her so called "misfortunes" that she damn well did to herself.

BlindLiberty Wholeheartedly agree. Soaps are a genre written primarily for women, and yet refuse to really create full female characters. They are mostly all still fighting over boys. They make these young female characters relationship and child obsessed, as though marriage and kids are the pinnacle of female achievement. It's a very 1950's stereotype.
The baby thing is my pet peeve. I've said it a lot on this board. They rush to saddle young women with babies on this show so quickly, pretty much limiting a big path of development for them. There is absolutely no reason for Maxie and Liz to have had 3 kids so early and so quickly, or for Lulu and Sam to have two. It's prevented them from having grand adventures and exploring relationships and career storylines, because they have to focus on and make choices based on those children.

Gwennie123 I totally agree except insert Carly instead of Nina.

Bobaloo For the love of Pete, can the show hire some romance writers? Some the best romance writers in the world write better action/adventure romance stories than Hollywood or main stream media will ever put out! Which is another stigma romance is considered less than in media which I think is crazy. Some of the best stories ever told were about love or even better stories that were failed love stories! Sorry, I'm venting.
I have no idea why Maxie, Liz, Sam had children at such a young age. Hell, even poor Carly has (through the magic super aging children) given birth to Michael while being what 15? They keep moving his birthday so I can't remember now when he was born.
If the writers balanced Vets, legacy children and their children storylines better you wouldn't have this mess of female characters popping children out at a high rate of speed. And that's just the children that live! I would have loved to see Lulu, Maxie, Sam, Liz etc have their own adventures. Nothing wrong with wanting to be wife and mom, but geeze, not all of them have to be! The kids of these vets are so damn boring too. Besides the two viruses been released and the MetroCourt Hostage Crisis, and the Cyrus Debacle what have these people have to do? None of them work, they aren't having sex and Victor is getting his hip replaced - they are fighting over a child I've seen five times in my life.
I'm sorry I'm all over the place today. I really do love watching these characters and it just gets me all het up when I think about the missed opportunities the writers ignore.

I don’t like Maxie but she shouldn’t have to defend Bobbie over Nina no matter what. When you donate an organ, or on behalf of your kid you do so because it’s the altruistic thing to do. Not because they owe you anything later on in life. And it doesn’t matter who said what - no one should be throwing drinks at anyone. Bobbie took it to where it didn’t need to be. That’s really all Maxie needed to know.

c83gilles I am in agreement. There is a difference between gratitude and accepting awful behavior and Bobbie was wrong to pick a fight with Nina. Using the same logic, Carly and Joss should be forever grateful and accepting of Nelle (or Frank) because her kidney lives inside Joss. Wrong is wrong.

Bobbie did the right thing. Maxie is a whimp. She has known Bobbie and Carly much longer then she has known her evil family...Nina, Britt, and Britt's mother. I am cominyg around to liking Britt. At least she has the guts to say what she thinks to all involved!!!

Gwennie123 no Bobbie didn’t do the right thing. Confronting someone first, then getting salty that they fight back so you assault them is something that maybe I could expect from, well, a ten year old. Not someone that is 70 plus years old. Maxie had no such obligation to play into Bobbie’s messiness.
believeinme246 exactly! Great point about the kidney! as much as I am not a Maxie fan I feel like she has shown some growth. She is trying to remain neutral while still showing Nina that she loves her.

Maxie is being dumbed down again for this stupid story just like she was for Peter. Maxie is feisty and should have at least asked what provoked Bobbie. Maxie didn't have any problem questioning Michael yesterday. I hate this story and I hate when characters are dumbed down to advance a plot. Lazy!Last edited by DayRose; May 24, 2022, 04:08 PM.

Maxie can't take her heart out and give it back. Just because Bobbie donated the heart doesn't mean Maxie has to take Bobbie's side when she is in the wrong. Bobbie started the confrontation, gave as good as she got and then went the extra step of throwing the drink in Nina's face when she could have very well stopped at the verbal attack.

don't agree, Nina was in the wrong and brought up ancient history to throw in Bobbie's face....wait till she gets pissed at Maxie and reminds her that she stole drugs from the hospital for Lucky.....

Will I agree to disagree. Bobbie was wrong for approaching Nina. Nina was minding her own business. Bobbie started it as made herself open to wherever the conversation took them. All bets were off when Bobbie decided to confront Nina. SandyMcG0525

Maxie was right not to defend Bobbie . Bobbie picked a fight and threw a drink on Nina. It was stupid and childish. Even if you care about someone you don’t need to defend that kind of behavior.

Hhahaha Go Bobbie!!!! Nothing wrong with standing up for your family when an evil bitch comes around. Nina deserves more then a drink in her face. I'm not sure why the writer's are playing Nina as a victim and people standing by her. What she did to Carly and her family is one thing. But knowing Peter was alive and not telling the police. Almost killing Phyllis. No excuse for that. Nina has to pay for alot of things she has done. She's an evil Bitch. It's written all over her face!!!

JCmojoe81 Some of the messiest characters are the nicest ones! Some of the kindest were probably the meanest at one point. I'm absolutely convinced that Lila Quartermaine was hell on wheels in her younger days. She had to be to put up with Edward.
It feels as though these characters have to have blinders for many of these plotlines to work. In order for the Maxie/Peter plotline to work, not only did Maxie refuse to listen to anyone about Peter, even when it was so obvious you would have to be blind not to see it. It's frustrating as a viewer especially when this is repeated across all characters and plot lines. Like the PCPD, they have to be inept because if they weren't more than half of PC would be in lock up, but the story has to progress on.
Which is why the mob hit man was the PCPD's best detective.
Also why hasn't Maxie stopped herself and asked what she would do in this situation? Or, Brando, who lost his child, surely he would understand, right? Liz? Felicia? They all have people they don't want around their kids. Why has no one brought that up to Nina?
It was insane to have Brad approach Carly doling out advice like had the right or was knowledgeable about it at all.
But the way Britt approached Carly was well done, she was no nonsense but took into account Nina's behavior as well as reminding Carly of being a rebellious teenager back in the day. If it was more like Britt and less like Phylis, Ava, and Maxie conversations I would find far less infuriating.Last edited by BlindLiberty; May 26, 2022, 10:03 AM.

BlindLiberty great points! I cannot argue with any of that, you make complete sense on everything you stated

JCmojoe81 didn't mean to write a three page essay. I was just working through my frustration with the writing.

I disagree with this point, I dont think the writers twist their history to make Nina the victim. Nina makes herself the victim. But the people around her, like Carly, Willow, Michael, they see it. Heck even Maxie tried to shut her up on the way out. I really don't think she is written to look like a saint....she is extremely flawed, like many of the characters, and because of what she has done she is where she is now. If she were written like a saint and if her history has been twisted she wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. Maxie may not have "defended Bobbie" but she didn't let Nina get away with what she was saying either. Maxie for the first time saw Nina as others see her....I think Nina presents herself much differently depending on who's around and who walks into the room
For instance, she's boo-hooed to Curtis and Maxie and other supporters about how sorry she is for Nixon Falls and how she has tried to compromise with Michael and Willow. But in fact she never tried to compromise and she never apologized to Michael and Willow, or any of the people she actually hurt. She just says she is so, so sorry and never meant for any of this to happen to the people who she knows will pat her on the back and say "there, there."
I also think that when Nina told Maxie she had a run-in with Bobbie, she said that Bobbie was mean to her and threw a drink on her but never said, "And oh, I got in a dig at Bobbie for being the victim of child sex trafficking, aren't I clever?" Nina would leave that part out.
I'm just very disappointed at Maxie for not being more conflicted about Nina and antics. Yes, Nina is Maxie's sister-in-law, but she has done some terribly cruel things to Maxie, like firing her for trying to help a mother see her own daughter -- the child Nina wanted for herself. She witnessed first-hand what Nina and Valentin did to her BFF Lulu and how they tried to keep her from Charlotte and continually undermined Lulu.
Maxie also has known and liked Michael for decades now. She has known Carly for a pretty long time, and Carly was kind enough to let Maxie plan her wedding to Jason when Maxie begged her to let her do it. Maxie liked Jason and practically lived in his penthouse when she was with Spinelli -- doesn't she care that Nina's lies let Peter roam free and led in part to Jason's death? For that matter, doesn't Maxie care even a teeny bit that Nina failed to warn her that Peter was on her trail? That's why I feel they have dumbed down Maxie way too much.

I do agree, I wish we would see Maxie more conflicted on being there for Nina...I don't necessarily think she shouldn't be there for her, but I do think based on what Nina has done that Maxie should have some sort of reservations on supporting Nina given her history with Michael and Carly as you mentioned.

While Bobbie was indeed still a child/teen when she became a prostitute, it's well known in GH history that Ruby and Luke forbade her from prostitution and tried repeatedly to make her stop. They discussed this more then once. Bobbie even claimed that she was being a prostitute against their wishes, hid her activity at first because she knew they wouldn't allow it but because she was stubborn and wanted to make money, she did it anyway. No one was "trafficking" her.

Maxie isn’t mad at Nina for literally endangering her children by allowing Peter to Rome the earth without telling anyone that he was actually alive. The writers attempted to make Nina a hero by pretending like keeping the secret about Peter was part of some grand plan to protect Maxie, when really it was to protect her SMIKE secret. If Maxie doesn’t hate Nina for the level of selfishness she showed regarding her family, she sure isn't going to care about her going after Bobbi.

Remember that Bobbie illegally adopted Lucas. And after discovering Lucas was Cheryl Stansbury's son, she keep the truth and the baby from his rightful mother. Bobbie has no right to preach to anyone about keeping someone from their family.
