For Fun: Who is Your Favorite Actor (among recasts) in a Specific Role?

I loved Tamara Braun as the recast Carly. It doesn't hurt that Carly was written as learning and growing at this time, so she had a lot of great material to work with.

I also really loved the actor who temped for Sam. Granted, she was a temp rather than a permanent recast, but I really liked her take on the character.

Finally, I now cannot imagine any other Monica than Leslie Charleson.

He wasn't a recast, he originated that role, then replaced his replacement. That said, I loved Stephen Martines as Nik's first recast.

Tamara Braun was hands down my favorite Carly. I prefer Tyler Christopher to Marcus Coloma as Nikolas but I like both. My preference for Tyler Christopher is really a longing for the days when Nikolas was passionate, broody and romantic rather than the idiot he is written as now.

Edward Quartermaine - John Ingle. David White set the tone, but John Ingle made Edward lovabe.

Sean Kanaan - returned a AJ. Again - he made for a believable AJ trying to redeem himself to no avail (thanks, Sonny)

Tamara Braun - nothing against LW or the other actresses, but TB was watchable and drew you to the character. My favorite Carly - so feline.

I have enjoyed all the recast actors (GV, JY) as TPTB were trying to do something different with the young adult Lucky. No harm, no foul.

Lulu - Julie Marie Berman, hands down. Nothing against ER. JMB had the Spencer spark and Laura's vulnerability!

Jordan - Briana NIchole Henry. She was believeable as someone who could go undercover and then take the commissioner's office and boss about the "boys".

The only role on the show that is un-recastable is Luke Spencer. AG made that role, the good and the bad. He and GF saved the show from cancellation. 'nough said.

JaeBianca My GH watching was very scattered pre-cancellation of the other ABC soaps, but I too clearly remember the day Felicia showed up dressed as a boy and Frisco thought she was a thief. I was so in love with that story. And it was definitely Kristina Wagner, other posters' greater GH knowledge notwithstanding.

Huh, apparently Camila More briefly played her in 1991. It's funny that I didn't remember that since I was definitely watching around then. Her pictures don't even look the least bit familiar ??. GH was literally the show that drove my mother to buy a VCR. In the early days, we had a neighbor record it for us because our machine didn't even have a timer.

channyfan Anna was briefly recast with Camila Moore in the role and that was late 1991. That was a dud right there. She did finish off the Robert/Anna storyline when they were "killed" in the explosion in 1992.

Tamara Braun and especially Laura Wright as Carly. Hated SJB's Carly, but that was due to the character's actions, not the actress. LW is by far my favorite Carly - she's so fierce and so awesome!

I know this is unpopular, but I preferred NL's Emily over AT. Loved her sweet vulnerability combined with her great inner strength.

Always loved TC as Nikolas, but the current actor is doing a fantastic job in the role.

As for the flipside of the coin...

Totally agree with the earlier poster that Luke is absolutely unrecastable. Much like Susan Lucci as Erika Kane, Tony is iconic and nobody else could ever reasonably take over the role. Similarly, while the two Lucky recasts were good actors, for me there is just no Lucky but JJ. He's got an undefinable spark, a magic, that can't be replicated, plus his amazing chemistry with TG. Dillon is also hard - the recast just didn't capture his unique combination of quirkiness and heart. Couldn't imagine a Spinelli recast, either, for the same reasons.
