Grandpa/Grandson Saved in back alley storyline

I have not seen an episode of GH in sixteen years, so I'm a bit lost. LOL.

There are a lot of young people on the show now whom I don't even know and I am not really interested in their stories or whatnot. The only storyline that I was remotely interested in that had to do with the "new generation" was the butt-kicking grandpa who was battling some youths in a back alley. He was slashed by one of the hoodlums, and some fine ass man came and saved the grandpa and the grandson. I am not even sure who they were or why they were accosted by some hoods, but I found that storyline compelling.

Why were the youths attempting to assault them in the first place? Was one of the characters named Rory that I keep hearing about?

That was Marshall and TJ in a back entrance alley to a jazz club in NYC. The young boys that tried to rob them were just some punks. Marshall is Curtis' father and TJs grandfather (but not biologically).TJ is also the son of the police commissioner of PC, and the Domestic Partner of Molly Lansing, daughter of Alexis Davis. Rory is a new cop in PC .. so far he seems to be a real cutie and a nice guy!

Thank you very much for answering my question. Much appreciated! So who was the "mature" cutie who saved them? Was that Curtis?

What?!?!? Curtis is dating Whitney from Passions now? Let me find out.

Sorry to ask so many questions. I haven't seen GH is so long and today was my first episode back. I am going to stick with it since there's so much eye candy now. LOL

there is a not-too-roundabout connection to the Rory character you mentioned, who's probably early-twenties so much younger but also quite cute. Curtis is living with Portia, whose first-year college student daughter Trina and newcomer Rory have been giving each other flirtatious looks.... (Curtis is also quite likely Trinia's dad, not the Taggert character in the bar you saw today, but only Portia knows and she hasn't told anyone so far.) Trina's also in big legal trouble, tho she's basically a saint. total set-up.

        Hey!

Yeah, I saw Marcus Taggert today (and Taggert aged like a fine Malbec. That man is STILL a snack!) as a special Friday treat. I was so surprised to see Whitney from Passions being the lady he was talking to at the lounge. LOL. I know I kept hearing about Portia, but I had no idea that Whitney from Passions and Portia were one and the same. I'm kinda jelly that she's dating Curtis. That's one fine man.

The episode itself was pretty good. I forgot that most of the drama on stories happen on Thursday and Friday. I'm loving Liz's battle with mental illness. I always liked Liz Webber, so it's heartbreaking to see, but I can't take my eyes off of it. I also loved Bobbi giving Nina her comeuppance. The only storyline that I'm not really invested in is the weird couple who were drinking wine and ended up having very unnecessary, unerotic sex.

I started a thread on the weird couple’s “unerotic sex”, lol, but it was deleted. Oh well…

I think I commented on that message. I stated that they were some weird couple (because they were weird) who were hanging out in some fancy apartment and the woman was sipping wine on the couch and telling the guy about her whims and fears and things like that. Then they had some of the most unpassionate, non-titillating sex ever committed to film. It was like two shopping bags being slapped together. That's the only way I can describe it since it was so unerotic and it wasn't even necessary for them to have sex. I kept tuning out when they were talking.

        Who the hell were they?

They are Michael Corinthos (AJ Quartermaine was his birth father, but Sonny — who killed AJ — is his adoptive father) and Willow who is living with Michael. They are, IMHO, the most boring couple ever!

Francophile OMFG That's grown-up Michael?!?!? I remember when Michael was the annoyingly saccharine mop headed little kid. Gross. Both of them are so boring. I am so over them.

Technically TJ isn't even Marshall's grandson.

His Mom had an affair and his father is Sean,(her husband's buddy) not Marshall's son or Curtis' brother.

So I'm a bit confused why TJ is so fixated on Marshall as his grandpa

Yes, I wish they would give TJ a meatier storyline more often. I think the actor is stellar! He and Molly, though…snoozefest.

TJ considers himself an Ashford (rightly!) despite finding out Sean is his biological dad. It's not weird to me at all that he would want to know Marshall.

I love watching a new soap and knowing nothing about the characters and stories. You picked an interesting group of characters to start with. The butt-kicking grandpa Marshall is played by Robert Gossett, star of The Closer/Major Crimes.

Yep! And I loved him in those shows! TPTB have not done him any favors here, though, by dragging this storyline out for SO LONG!!!

I truly appreciate your post. I hate the hate Marshall receives. I don't don't find his storyline boring at all. Thank you!
