So now Michael is making Carly's decisions?

Michael is such a jerk. Now he's telling Carly she can't invest HER money but it would've been okay if it was Sonny's "blood money"? Who does he think he is telling Carly how to spend HER money?

And now I'm wondering how great they think this merger will be since he basically said it's too much of a risk.

I think he was just trying to protect his mother oh, and like you said it seems like it would be a risky investment, and he wouldn't care if Sonny lost money but he doesn't want his mom to lose her money

Gee - I honestly thought it was a caring comment.
MIchael (and Drew was standing there and said nothing) knows this is a financial risk, and did not want to place his mother at a fiancial disadvantage. Notice he said specifically - Sonny's blood money. Sonny has the coffee business (legal) and the other side (illegal).

Yes, that was a curious comment Michael made. It makes me wonder what he is up to. Also, his stopping the business conversation when Dante was around. It seems like this ELQ/Aurora merger is something more than just Q business. It seems like somehow this is part of his plan to take down Sonny. And I don't see Drew going along with something like that, so I'm thinking Drew does not realize everything Michael is up to.

You may be on to something. The way he shuffled Carly off the investment so quickly is telling. And again, this merger is supposed to be a good thing so why wouldn't he think it will be successful?

I don’t have a problem with him deterring Carly from investing because I don’t want her anywhere near a Quartermaine co. I hate this whole merger idea. Just one more stunt to smother the Q legacy. They thought Austin was the issue when in fact it’s going to be Michael and Drew. Michael because of his vendetta with Sonny is probably going to put ELQ at risk.

I agree with all of this. I only hope Michael is the one to lose everything, not the rest of the Q's.

Ribbonette I was JUST going to make a similar comment! If Michael's afraid his mother will lose her money, then he obviously has no confidence in this stupid merger in the first place. I cannot wait for Ned and Valentin to just pluck it all away from him. And as much as I love Drew, well...if you throw in with Michael, you get what you get.

I feel like Michael just can’t win. First, he’s accused of letting Carly make all his decisions, now he’s wrong for telling her no for investing in his and Drew’s business. It’s his decision who he wants to let in invest in his business, and it’s probably a good idea that he not let his mother invest. It wouldn’t look good.

This is the opposite of being in her purse! The one thing I have liked about Michael lately, as much as I can like anything, is that he has been out of her purse. But now telling her what to do especially when the merger is supposed to be a good thing? Yeah, he can't win with me like that.

As posted above, if Michael had any confidence in this merger at all then he wouldn't have concerns about Carly losing her money. But no, he still doesn't get to tell her where she can invest.

Michael is just looking out for his mother. Nothing wrong with that.

This perpetual need to make every word and decision made by Michael into the actions of a future malicious controlling abuser is really getting out of hand. I don't understand this, is Michael not allowed to give his opinions to his own mother now? I mean Carly is allowed to take his advice if she wants or not.

It didn't come across as advice. It was a "you're not allowed". If he had worded it differently, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

I didn't see Michael's comments as telling Carly what to do, rather that he was saying, "It's nice of you to offer, Mom, but you don't have to rush in to help me/us."

Which is a sign of a son who is standing on his own two feet and not expecting handouts from mom.

I have a strong dislike for Michael but in this instance I was okay with his comments to Carly. He doesn’t need his mother in the middle of Quatermaine business. She is never a quiet bystander. Let her stay in her own lane. And, as a viewer I don’t need to see or hear more of her.

You make a good point! I am glad that Carly won't be inserted in Q business.

LOL, "blood money!" Like the Q money, which he seems to have no issue with, is always so squeaky clean. What a hypocrite. So disappointed in him lately.

What bothered me about the conversation was Michael’s derisive comment about Sonny’s blood money! I am definitely not a Sonny/mobster fan, but it is so hypocritical of Michael that NOW Sonny’s blood money bothers him! Just a few weeks ago, Sonny was still “dear old dad”, but now he is evil Sonny. I am really starting to despise petulant, judgmental Michael!

I am with Michael. I would have taken Sonny to the cleaners if I was Carly because she could have. Even Sonny's own lawyer was asking if the house was all she wanted. That would have been the best revenge, but they would not go there ,when they did everything else to make Carly lose in this her kids under the same roof, because Avery see her as her second step mom .She had no lose in waffling Sonny, but the pain and shame she had to suffer after the man of decades betrayed her in this kind of fashion was all kinds of just,I have no words. So I agree with Michael here,

I didn't have a problem with Michael giving his opinion about Carly investing in ELQuora but I really didn't like his comment about Sonny's blood money. Not because it isn't true, but because Michael had zero issues with living in the luxury and security that said blood money afforded him all his life, and only got suddenly righteous about it because now he is mad at his daddy.
