Is there any way to fix Spencer's plan?

Aside from letting more people in on the secret, that is? Because right now, every time I think about it, I hear the Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger shouting, "YOU ARE FAILING!"

All we know is that Spencer plans to lure Emse into feeling safe and trusting that she will spill the beans to him, much like she did when she took it upon herself to torch Ava's car while he had his rager (and an alibi).
    That takes time and patience.
I can understand why he cannot tell his friends or his father (or Laura for that matter) as they cannot keep quiet - look at Cam, for Pete's sake.

Ava would keep quiet, and would probably help to set up a situation that would be conduce to getting Esme to trust him.

Spencer's plan is stupid. He is alienating the world because he thinks he can outsmart Esme and get her to confess. Brilliant idea!

He should go to Taggert. With Taggert's police detective background, he has way more experience than Spencer, who I feel is just in over his head! These two don't have to be besties but it would have made better story for the two of them to come together for the sole purpose of saving Trina.

But my biggest gripe in this is that I feel like Spencer's ego in mixed into this plan. What I mean is, I think Spencer wants to be the one to expose Esme and save Trina. I think there's a part of him that wants to be seen in the eyes of Trina and others as the "hero" instead of the idiot that brought this pyscho girlfriend into the fold to begin with. I also think that he feels not only responsible but embarassed for being duped by Esme. I think the realization that she played him like a violin has to sting. This guy is suppose to be a Cassadine and he along with his father look like complete morons right about now!!

He could grow up and become less of an idiot overnight. Outside of that, I don't know. Nothing about this version of Spencer has been shown to be smart or cunning - even the stalking of Ava was coordinated by Esme, who is clearly smarter. Even if he pulls this off and gets Esme's confession, how much destruction will he have caused trying to do so?

I agree with you! Spencer wants to be Trina's hero which is messing up the plan. He needs help and Taggert would be perfect to help him.

He needs to confide in Ava and get her to work with him. Am sure she can come up with some devious ways to get Esme to trip up.

Spencer's plan was to wait and hope Esme is feeling chatty. The only reason there's any movement in his plan in the first place is because of Cameron. And Cameron doesn't have the patience to watch Trina suffer. He's the that told Spencer to search Esme's things and then put an act in front of her in case she decides to confide in him.

And now that Esme got the clue from Ryan that Spencer is unto her, he definitely needs to change up his strategy. The only other way to show Spencer's smarts in this whole thing would be if he picks up the fact that Esme's knows that he knows Esme made the tape, so he can play into that if he digs into his Cassedine roots.

I agree with Sam when she told Spencer that Esme would probably find a way to make him her accomplice or place the blame on him and that he should be careful.

If Spencer gets his $10,000 a month from Ava, he can hire someone to help him.

He made a mistake in confiding in Sam today as she usually seems to mess things up or blabs to someone. The less that know the better but it never happens on GH!
I also don't think he is going to fool little Miss Esme she does not seem to miss much.
