How can Val not realize he is ruining his relationship with Anna?

Did Val really need Felicia to tell him he was screwing up his relationship with Anna? What is Val playing at? When he said he could provide info on the French sailor, I wondered if he was going to confess - what would Anna do if he did? Anna protected Peter, but would she do the same for Val if she thought he was protecting the real killer of Luke and the real thief of the Ice Princess?

I love Val and Anna, but this is getting frustrating. His mind is elsewhere - does ELQ really mean that much to him? Is his alliance with Victor causing him problems? Is he ill and no one recognizes it?

I don't like him with Anna. I know he's had his crush on her since they were young in the "academy" together, but she is not right for him at all.

He needs to be with someone who is like MS's Nina, sleek and sophisticated. Not the weary old-fashioned WSB spy who has for some reason grown her hair long and is now wearing purple dresses with black stockings. Her big wardrobe change is not enough to be on Valentin's level of hotness.

He’s not on that much anymore due to his other show so it seems like they are having a hard time figuring out a storyline since he’s not really around much.

Ding Ding! Ding! We have a winner! I will say JPS is playing Valentin as very cocky regarding the Jennifer Smith issue. Almost a "catch me if you can" dare to Anna. But I agree deep down he feels unworthy of her and, maybe, subconsciously is trying to tank their budding relationship.

I would suspect that Victor is holding Charlotte hostage to force Val to help him. Remember that Nina said Victor took Charlotte to boarding school. Maybe Charlotte isn't in boarding school at all but hidden away from Val. That's what I think is going on.

That’s very possible. IDK what is going on with Valentin but he is off. It’s like he’s reverting to how he was when he first was reintroduced. He’s always been shady and capable of bad things but with Anna he tried to be better. Now, he’s acting suspicious and we know he set up Jennifer Smith for his crime(s). I think he’s either being black mailed or mind controlled by Victor. Victor is pulling Valentin’s strings somehow.

Oh, no! I hadn’t thought of that, but he does look a bit weighed down, and not his normal self.

But didn't Nina just say she had talked to Charlotte and Charlotte told her about boarding school? It seems more likely that Valentin shipped her off to school to keep her safe from whatever Victor is up to, this Operation Demeter thingy. And that something is going on (speculation only) where Valentin is pretending to work with Victor but is secretly trying to foil him, but that's why he's not actively pursuing Anna.

I thought the same thing at first CarnyQueen when Nina told Val she had spoken to Charlotte, but then I started to think about it. If Val took Charlotte to Boarding School to keep her out of harm's way, he wouldn't have allowed Victor to take her there. It makes no sense. Plus Nina was surprised he would send Charlotte away and so was I. That is out of character for him. So what I think is that while Val was still recovering, Victor got Charlotte away and either has her and is convincing her she has to lie to Nina to protect Val and the family or he's brain washed her. Either way, I think he has her to guarantee Valentin's cooperation and Valentin is playing both ends of the stick to figure out what Victor is up to and find out where he has Charlotte. I believe his distance from Anna is just to keep Victor from figuring out that he isn't quite on Victor's team. Anna cares about who killed Luke, but Val could care less about Luke, he only cares about Anna and Charlotte (and Bailey). If he is too close to Anna's investigation, Victor is going to want to know why.

That's my guess anyway.

OMG I thought it was just me who can’t get into Val and Anna.Him and M.S Nina was freaking smoking and he doesn’t have this with Anna at all. I love me some Val,but have to ff him with Anna. I see no chemistry and they are as interesting as dry paint. I was liking him and BLQ ;now that would have been something. I would take a triangle with Val/BLQ/Chase.But him and Anna just don’t fit and never did in my opinion.To each his own.

We saw Val do the full court press for Nina, complete with maniacal schemes to keep her with him.

Val's doing so little to court Anna you'd think he had a wife and kids in another town.

OK, today Val told Ned that he had come to love ELQ and didn’t want to lose it, but I still don’t see how that excuses him from his neglect of Anna. I do think Victor is behind whatever is going on with Val, but I want Anna to figure it out. Anna isn’t that vain. If Val suddenly “ghosted” her, she wouldn’t think that was par for the course, that should make her suspicious and make her investigate.

I don't understand how an ex WSB agent, police chief, police commissioner, current agent doesn't pick up on it and is falling for him in the first place. She tends to migrate toward bad boys (Valentin, Duke) and throws away the good guys (Robert, Dr. Fin, Dr. Buzz Stryker)...ijs

IMO, Anna has a pattern of ruining her own relationships with lies, secrets and over the top expectations. I'm still waiting for the shoe to drop with Valentin. Right now it's in the fluttery flirty period, but if they get in an official relationship, will Anna and Valentin do right, I have doubts. Valentin has the same flaws that Anna has in relationships...he lies, keeps secret and instead of over the top expectations, he puts them on a pedestal they end up falling off of. I think there would be more drama with a Valentin and Carly mush up. Not to mention it would drive Michael, Sonny and Nina crazy....lol.
