Excellent parent/child scenes: the video and the moms [Merged]

I am not fond of Carly, but she was a wonderful mother to Joss today. She listened, she didn't come up with a zillion things Joss should do, made a very practical phone call to Spinelli, and basically was just there for her daughter.

Just as Elizabeth was a wonderful mom to Cameron today. She did the same. She listened, didn't pass judgement, and was basically there for her son.

Although created due to a heinous act, those scenes were very heart-warming and what soaps used to be about. Family. Kudos to the writers (who I usually am not singing the praises of) for getting it right.

Great dialogue + great acting = great soap.

I thought both Liz and Carly were extremely authentic in their portrayals, and Cam and Joss both broke my heart. As a parent of a mid twenties young woman and young man, I could so relate to those scenes and feel all of their pain.

Oh yes, the writing, the acting the entire scenes were great! It's so very hard to find the words and actions when your child has been not only hurt but traumatized by someone else's actions. Both mothers did great and kudos to the writers, directors and actor/actresses. It wasn't even soapy imo, but genuine.

This is the thread I was looking for to say what I saw today. I can’t stand Carly, and I’ve lost interest in Joss, but Joss needed her mom today, and Carly delivered in spades. Loved the scenes with Elizabeth and Cam. Yes, it was about parents and children, and parents being there for their kids. Excellent.

I think that Elizabeth and Carly are two of the best moms on the show and they didn't disappoint me today! I know Elizabeth is overwhelmed with so many things going on so I hope Carly can reassure her that she has Spinelli on the job.

Honestly, even though overwhelmed, Elizabeth put that away and focused solely on her child. I don't think she needs any reassurance from Carly. Let Joss tell Cameron about Spinelli and Cameron can tell his mom.

Those scenes were perfection. I always want more friendship and family scenes.

Heck if they had more Carly scenes like the ones today and those from the axe throwing outing, I wouldn't hate Carly. lol

Both Carly and Liz did a great job dealing with the initial reveal of "the video." Carly was especially good. Liz had to split her scenes between Cam and Jake which was actually quite realistic, but also meant she couldn't give the reveal the same full treatment. Bravo to both moms.

Didn't Maxie have a similar situation when she was a teen and portrayed by a different actress? Does anyone remember how that was handled?

crazyaunt I loved Liz's scenes every bit as much as Carly's. I agree that Liz was dealing with two kids at once and that was very realistic. Might be why I said it was realistic. lol I was only saying that Liz got less screen time to deal with the video (again realistically) because she also had to deal with Jake in the same epi. I would have loved to see Liz/Cam conversation more drawn out like Carly/Joss... because I love Liz in mom mode. But ultimately, I think it was perfect, as done.

DVX ? I understand where you're coming from. I would have loved to have seen more screen time with Liz and Cam discussing how HE felt being exposed to the whole world during an intimate moment that he thought was just the two of them. To be honest, I would love for GH to dig deeper into a young man's perspective on this subject. You know, give the POV from Cam, a young man that also felt the humiliation about his first time being out there for everyone and their dogs to see and then delve into the range of emotions that most young men might hide, to be "strong" for their girlfriend and his family. jmho as always

I don’t like Carly except for maybe once every few years but she was great today with Joss. And Of course, Liz and her boys are always my favorite. Both were fantastic and the scenes were spot on.

Carly and Liz are the only mothers besides Olivia that are the good mothers. I like all three woman and they are always there for their children.

Another poster here who can’t stand Carly, but I have to give her kudos on how she handled Joss today. Elizabeth was absolutely wonderful with Cameron, also, but I expected that as I think she is always good with her boys.

I totally agree. Excellent parent/child scenes today by all. I especially enjoyed watching Elizabeth and her scenes with both of her sons. Her talk to Jake about how he's so much like his father, Jason (and the young actor is resembling SB ) was touching and how Liz and Cameron interact is awesome, when he said I can't talk about it with you looking at me, was great. A mother all alone, raising teenage boys is such a challenge. I just love watching how they are growing up together.
Carly and Joss was amazing too how she handled learning her daughter has had sex, very calming and no judgement. I enjoyed watching GH today. Kudos to the writers !

Liz & Carly are great moms, the way they’re listening, advising and loving them through this is pitch perfect. I’m so happy you started this post, hopefully we’ll see Trina talking about this with her mom, as she’s clearly traumatized by this whole thing also.

I am usually very negative about the writing so I felt kudos should be given when kudos are due. The acting is almost always stellar, even with characters I don't like.

I also enjoyed the scenes between the families. I can see many people identifying with both Cam & Joss having that video go viral. Social media is a beast and GH did a good job handling this.. I want there to be some sort of legal repercussions for Esme. This will send a message that cyberbullying is not ok.
