I also like Victor. He is charming and ruthless at the same time.
I think GH has some good villains right now. Victor, Esme, Ryan (he needs to go away after this story), and Cyrus.

Why do I enjoy Victor so much?

Because we don't have to worry he'll end up crying over his rotten childhood to deflect from his evil actions?

I never liked Victor the first go around...but I find him charming now that CS is portraying him

He is by far one of the best things about GH right now! I cannot ever take my eyes off him whenever he's on, and even though I could watch him all day, they are using him sparingly (which only makes him more enthralling).
They're playing him very mysterious and suave. Like other posters have said, it works so well because there's no mustache twirling speeches like Peter or bratty whining about their childhood like Nelle.

I'm sorry but its really making me miss TC's Nikolas who was raised to be The Dark Prince. The heir of all. A formitable foe. Original Nikolas and Stefan had this Cassadine aura in spades alongside romance and the ability to love.
I'm not seeing ALL this with the new version of Nikolas (and I blame the writing more so then MC).

Does anyone know why he drugged Valentine and put him in the dumpster?

I think a lot of viewers are happy to see a Cassadine villain on screen. We expect Cassadines to be evil but sophisticated (except for their plots. Freezing Port Charles with the Ice Princess being the big example).
I am glad to get a break from the usual New Mobster Comes to Town to Challenge Sonny plot we get treated to every few years. I know "Mr. Nobody" is waiting in the wings, and I'm not terribly interested in that.
Also, even though Victor does have that annoying villain habit of claiming that he is innocent while everyone knows he isn't, so far he hasn't been presented as being invincible. For months and months and months both Peter and Cyrus were always able to remain one step ahead of everyone. Peter always had a mysterious contact he could call to do his dirty work. So far, we have seen Victor be outmaneuvered by Peter, and when he tried to control Drew with the wrong tarot card, it was a hoot.

Well CS gives Victor a lot of charm but for a villain he’s not scary or lethal or particularly successful except with Spencer. Even there Esme and Ryan are far more dangerous. I think ultimately he’s maybe of a stir the plot villain . He can’t even see through Maxie , Britt , Sam and Dante setting him up. If he was really clever he would have been more suspicious instead he’s susceptible.

Victor doesn't seem so evil or awful because CS is playing him, and his natural charm and kindness shine through. I like him, but his Victor does not work for me on any level. Even when he's saying and doing rotten things, he's just so...nice.

This exactly. Peter was definitely Snidely Whiplash. It was too much that anyone fell for him and his lies.
Victor is kind of like Helena, smooth, charming, smart, subtle and completely wicked, twisted and morally bankrupt. He's also not whiny. That helps.
You have to have villains to drive the drama and I'd rather have a thousand Victors than one Peter. He just made me want to stick forks in my eyeballs.
