Sonny hasn’t been this exciting since Brenda, re: Nina!

I’m just watching Sonny and Nina’s scene and honestly Sonny hasn’t been this interesting since Brenda. Carly pretty much dragged him down with all of her bullying and self absorbing nonsense. I saw a little hope in Sonny, he’s damaged and so is Nina but maybe they can fix each other.

I didn’t agree with the way Nina handled things but Carly isn’t a martyr either with her many flaws. Sonny and Carly have surpassed each other, they brought out the worse in one another. Honestly they both need to be single for a while Sonny’s probably using this situation to his advantage because she’s option number two right now but I’m enjoying their scenes, it’s different from what he had with Carly, Brenda, Olivia and even Kate/Connie and if done right I could see them together.

I don't see it. I don't see anything new with Sonny. He's still making irrational reactive decisions and not owning them.

I'm working on a theory that this is the real impact of Jason being gone. Jason used to be able to make Sonny slow down before acting, and he used to force Carly to really think things through. Without Jason, both are acting on gut instinct and they are both swirling down the drain (although I'm more in agreement with Carly than Sonny).

Yep, Sonny with Nina is gross. Her character is slimy and incredibly manipulative and with her in his life, he's really stupid. I can't watch when they get within inches of each other, makes my skin crawl. Ew.

I can't see past how narcissistic Sonny is acting to even begin to see him as entertaining. He's treating nina like gum on the bottom of his shoe and she's eating it up. It's been months since Sonny has been entertaining

Brenda was as dull as dishwater, and Nina is a walking horror show.

CarSon is a match made in soap heaven - passion, undying love, loyalty, the occasional knockdown dragout fight (and the amazing make-ups that follow!), and genuine understanding and acceptance of each other.

Sure, they have their ups and downs like any soap coup!e, but they always find their way back to each other...right where they belong.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of either Sonny or Carly, I agree they need to be together. I think the show suffers with them apart.

Nina and Sonny are a vile pairing, one laced with her taking advantage of a man with brain damage from amnesia and spiraling from self medication of bi-polar disease. There is nothing exciting about this story. It is offensive on so many levels.

Exactly true. Sonny clearly loves Carly, but he screwed up and drank too much and nina preyed on him and now he's paying the price. She'll always be second hand rose. And ultimately, he will turn on her and blame her for the misery they created.

And now he's also become a blackout drunk. Nina seems to be the only one aware that he is blacking out. That is a big symptom of alcoholism. BTW, where is Phyllis? She is never at Charlie's. If she was, she would make sure Sonny wasn't overserved. You could see the bartender didn't want to give Sonny that last drink, but did so in fear of setting Sonny off & losing his job. BTW, Where is Kristina? She must be on the same schedule as Phyllis!

To me Sonny’s parings rarely work in fact they never do. The last time I thought he had major chemistry with someone was TB ‘s Carly . He also had his most interesting dynamic with Alexis although not actually a couple. I even find the adversarial relationship with Ava has more spark with Sonny than LW’s Carly.
If he wasn’t so mopey I might see more with Sonny and Nina .

I cringe when he is on. Seeing him and Nina is disgusting, but on the other hand I think they deserve each other and want Carly to move forward .(if he had truly worked on his marriage and didn’t keep secrets when he got back and it didn’t work out. Then ok let him and Nina get to really know each other and move forward. But instead he came back and kept secrets , seemed to run into Nina every chance he could (and same with Nina.) So even IF Carly has got to the boat first that night and they had ended up in bed. (Not him and Nina) he would still find ways to have Nina in his life , so let him have her!!!).

I though Carson was getting boring before Sonny ended up in Nixon Falls. Sonny has feelings for Nina he can't shake and it was Mikes choice to fall in love with another woman when he was perfectly aware he was a married man. The police offered to help him find out his identity but he refused. They would have had his name in an hour or less. He did research to find out about the guy who was trying to get over on Phyliss & Lenny but not himself. I think if Nina never came to town he would still be in Nixon Falls in the arms of another woman living his life.

Sonny KNOWS he is partly at fault for the time he was in Nixon Falls and that is why he can't blame Nina fully for his situation. Sonny has been drinking and is confused because he is in love with 2 women and one just walked away. Jason, who was like a brother and the next in charge of the mob business is dead. Miles, Max are gone. Who would not be distraught?.

Maurice said in an interview he appreciates that the show is delving back into sonny's bipolar disorder because he struggles with it in real life. I have a close friend who does as well and I can tell you even though she takes her medicine daily, it does not work well when things are stressful. Even filling out pages of paperwork to go to the doctor is a big deal. She has had her meds changed at least 4 times too. At this point in Sonny's life, Nina is a person who has a calming effect on him. She is not a lady who was turned on because he was a powerful mob boss, like Carly, but loved him for his calmer, laid back side which at this point in his life Sonny may want to embrace more. I am not saying he will leave the mob but who knows. The way Michael has been acting the past year I can see him stepping in Sonny's shoes in a modern way.
