Port Charles "law enforcement" is so incompetent

The PCPD and WSB are seriously the most incompetent bunch of idiots I've ever seen. If I lived in Port Charles I would never call them for anything. Because ultimately they would bungle even the most simplistic of tasks. How is the world do you allow murders/kidnappers such as Peter August to outsmart you and escape time after time? It's beyond ridiculous at this point. I get this is a soap. But why must the police force constantly be dumbed down just to advance a plot? If Port Charles police officers were on police forces around the country murders/kidnappers/etc ....Would be breaking out/on the loose all the time.

I agree with you. I don't understand why every single person, not only in law enforcement, but just anybody against Peter has to be stupid and incompetent. It's been very hard to watch one of my favorite characters Anna act like an idiot over Peter. It's just not entertaining to watch Peter win once again.

It's been that way at least since Sonny and Jason became the protagonists of GH. Board members called the PCPD "The Keystone Cops" for years.

That's the big flaw of this show that was created to accommodate monsters like Sonny and his hitman Jason, who 'own' PC. They were dumbed down so that the chosen centers of the show could continue their reign. It continues today with the PCPD and WSB. Everyone has to look like bumbling fools so that the evil and crazies could continue to exist. The balance between right and wrong is really off kilter and I hate how those who we should most respect are reduced to the idiots who just can't see straight or have the vision to get it right.

Completely agree. The last time the PCPD had any creditability was when Burt Ramsey was in charge and we all know how that turned out.

Soap cops have been the butt of jokes for as long as I've been watching. BUT, they would occasionally solve a case. Not only doesn't the PCPD solve cases....they're never even shown investigating them. Mobsters, mayors, distraught mothers---that's who solves crimes in Port Charles.

This topic was brought up all the time when Jordan was in charge and many were wanting Mac to return. I have always thought the PCPD was written to be inferior to Sonny and Jason. Even Anna and the WSB were written to need Jason to assist. I thought things would be different now that the mob is referred to but no longer seem to be the central focus of the show. With the dangerous villan who has escaped more than once, why would Mac not transport with a large caravan of armed guards?

Peter is the Superman of villans. He has been shot, poisoned, thrown down a stairwell and put in a freezer and still manages to escape the incompetent WSB super agent Anna DeVane and Valentine who was hyped as the baddest most feared of them all and of course the Port Charles police have been a joke since the 80's. They all look like buffoons to keep Peter relevant. How far will the writers go to make Peter relevant to this storyline of Peter The Bulletproof man of PC.. It's become a comedy now.

It’s been like this since the show started propping Jason and Sonny. Although I remember being highly annoyed at the stupidity of it all during the metro court hostage storyline, when Luke grabbed the megaphone to talk to Jerry Jax and Mac let him. Ric was going off and Mac was just like, well he’s Luke and just shrugged.

The PCPD has to be written as very fallible so that Peter can escape, grab Bailey/Louise and wreak havoc. If the PCPD was allowed to transport Peter during the day, with a large escort, then the plot couldn't move forward.

If you are starting a petition sign me up! There needs to be more of a balance. PCPD needs to win a few. Heck this could even be a story line. There is obviously corruption among the ranks (Kendall). Sonny and Cyrus both talk of having their informants in the PCPD. Someone needs to come in and totally revamp the department. And this seems like the perfect opportunity to bring Valerie back.

Hamilton Finn ... so I can turn him into a forensics crime solving sleuth who reminds everyone of John McBain.

My mission in life would be to change Port Charles into a place where the PCPD and GH are famously known for being a heroic team saving lives ... plus sending criminals and villains to the hoose-gow for longer then a hot minute.

Austin & Chase would be the Robins to my Batman. Elizabeth Batgirl. Epiphany & Monica & Mac with key rolls.

And Two Face and Harley Quinn (CarSon) would find themselves hiding on their island for months at a time.

GH would be so awesome if the heroes and sharpest minds were law enforcement and not the criminals themselves. Think of all the great mystery books and series of all time. They're the ones we should be rooting for, and if they are fabulous characterizations, they should be fun and exciting, just as some people think Sonny and Jason are. With Jason presumed dead and Sonny preferring the more peaceful life, now is the perfect time to phase this in. Especially with a former Navy SEAL on the show.

While I definitely agree that the PCPD and the WSB have been written as incompetent so Sonny and Jason could save the day, it has been a soap standard that the cops on any soap arrest the wrong person. That allows the loved one of the arrested person to investigate and solve the crime. However, GH has taken it to such an extreme it seriously is not funny, especially when the cops become incompetent to further a criminal as Snidely Whiplash-ish as Peter has become.

Stupid, plot-driven writing at its best. If the cops weren't incompetent, then Peter couldn't kidnap Bailey/Louise. Because competent cops would have gotten Peter to Pentonville and Bailey/Louise would be safely at home with Maxie. But this story has to go on and on and on and on and on.

Pentonville should have just sent a helicopter to the GH roof and taken him away that way. But of course there are no complications that way to play out on the show, that would be too easy.

ITA with bopeonarope -- even Barney Fife could've come up with that idea (change the route) -- the idiots were just asking for trouble-- no escort, leaving at nite, etc. It's just a cartoon watching WSB and PCPD making complete fools of themselves in EVERY situation.
