This is the 3rd time Kevin has had to step away to tend to an emergency patient. Does anyone thinks this is odd?

CLOUDFARE Security Message
Over the past few days you may have received a "Checking if the site connection is secure" message when accessing the site. This is perfectly normal and not cause for alarm.
This message indicates that the server is confirming that the SSL (the "s" that you see in the https before web addresses) security is, in fact, secure. This is not some sort of advertisement and it is not some sort of nefarious hacking.
Cloudfare, which is a provide of web hosting and security, has recently added this layer of security on the Soap Central message boards platform as an added layer of security.
The message may occur any time that your browser makes a new connection to the boards. The message may also stop appearing at any time as the process is further integrated into the boards.

Either John Lindstrom is having scheduling/availability conflicts and it's an easy to write him off and explain his absences or he's knee deep involved with Ryan or some else Laura won't like yet again?

People often comment here when people who should be in certain scenes aren't there. For Kevin, the writers are telling us the reason he can't be present. I like it.

Exactly. He is a psychiatrist that has privileges at GH, Ferncliffe, etc. He gets calls for patients having acute problems, probably necessitating a psychiatric hold. There is only one other psychiatrist mentioned - Sonny's doctor - (Dr Abram / Abraham?). That is not very many psychiatrists for a metropolitan area such as Port Charles.

Why are the writers making a point of including Kevin in things, then pulling him a way?
Plus the writers could have had Kevin just leaving to go to work for a meeting with a client etc.. But instead he's being called a way unexpectantly. I'm beginning to think someone we know is keeping him busy and we don't know who it is yet. Is it Ryan, or someone else? Heather?
Or maybe the writers want Laura to end up in an independant situation. With her hubby always busy?

I could understand the emergency excuse when the actor wasn’t on, but he was actually on today. Makes me think there is something else going on.

The past few times Kevin hasn't even been on screen for more important things. He missed Laura officiating Ned and Olivia's vow renewal and a couple of other things, which I just thought meant he wasn't filming at those moment.
I'm just happy to see him even if they have to pull him away for a "patient".

They do film out of order then edit the scenes together! Sometimes continuity gets affected! So maybe that's the case currently with Kevin?

Exactly Krista. We all know that when they make excuses for a character that should be there, that more than likely they are not available for filming. It's obvious that they have filmed previously to show the character as being there. A good clue is looking at their haircuts. LOL
