I ctually think it's pretty balanced if you look at the storylines - there were 21 episodes. No one on every day (and trust me, it's been that way in the past). If ti was all Sonny/Carly/Nina - I would be annoyed. But Luke died - and Carly was on with Bobbie - I'll take tht any day. Sonny was on with Laura - also very, very good. I find it promising that Curtis was on as much as Nina and Brroklyn and Victor were on more.

For soap operas, this is balance. If you look at episode counts for AMC or OLTL, you always had a few core actors that had big storylines, but also helped introduce new actors. I cannot find Days of Our Lives, but I could find Bold and the Beautiful for December:
Bold and the Beautiful - Top 3 - Brooke, Deacon, Ridge Steffy - all at over 20 episodes each

Well, we know the writers took a nice break for themselves. 15 of 21 eps with Sonny and Carly saying the same things over and over and over. And, of course the were on for 3/4 of the time on each of those 15 days, which was mind numbing. I’d love to have a few months when Sonny and Carly are on zero times, and we can kind of forget they exist. I’m tired of FF and/or muting GH.

January was better than last year in terms of balance. Let’s see if it continues. I’m also interested in seeing the February count since it’s a sweeps month. And we are still hearing the same conversations from Sonny and Carly.

It's funny that Carly an Sonny are having the same conversation. It feels to me like Alexis is saying the same thing over and over and so are Brooklyn, Chase and Maxie. How much is part of soap opera storytelling? I also think that Sonny, Carly, Laura, etc. are part of the establishing of new storylines. They usher in the storyline or help move it along - some examples are Laura helping to establish the new Victor character with all of his past history AND being involved in the Olivia/Ned wedding, Sonny and Carly's role in the crafting of the amazing Sasha Brando storyline that let them highlight Brando and Sasha. It's all intertwined.

When I think about this week alone, Sonny ran into Ned/Leo - while it was the telling of Sonny's storyline, it was also an update on Leo's condition and a lead in to Olivia/Ned's vow renewal. Ned was able to highlight his role with Leo and talk about his past mistakes with Olivia. I am not sure that meeting was Sonny-centric - I think it was MORE about Leo, Olivia and Ned. Sonny was also at the wedding today and there was some of his storyline, but so was everyone else and it was used to move a few storylines (Brooklyn/Chase/Maxie/Austin, Sam/Dante, Michael/Willow, Tracy and the Ice Princess)

Thank you! I wish we could see more of Mac! I like Sonny and Carly so I don't mind that they are on a lot but I would love to see more of Mac and Robert too.

What a surprise Carly and Sonny dominate the show. Send then to the island for a year long sabbatical.

SandyMcG0525 On an ensemble show this is not normal as is reflected in the ratings.

ABC says the 14000th GH episode aired on 2/23/18. Can you tell us what # episode we'd be up to now?

I wish I could throw Wonder Woman's lasso around Frank V and ask him why my favs usually have an episode count that is half of what Sonny & Carly each get. Maybe the answer would make sense. Its the not-knowing that nerves me.

15/21 is an extremely unbalanced amount of scree time. I used to love carson but they overkilled them for me.

It would be more telling if it named the STORY that was on for whatever number of days. Therein lies the bite! The writing for Sonny/Carly/Nina...this is NOT a popular story.
No matter which side you are on, or whether you not on either side, I think the majority of fans would like this story to move on. If Carson are going to divorce DO IT. End it.
Get some interesting exciting stories going. Seeing couples bicker and spit at each other daily is not exciting or enjoyable. End it.
