Chase should be a leading man

So many people are upset at the way the story is going for Chase. The actor has all the qualities needed in a leading man. Smoking hot looks, talented acting chops and let's face it, he's a heart throb. The people who make these decisions should really take a good look at what they are throwing away by making Chase stay in the supporting role to Michael's lead.

    Why can't they see this?

I'm not sure how Willow loving Michael in any way prevents chase from being a lead. Is there only one woman in town? Can Chase only be a star with a girlfriend? That doesn't say much about his lead potential.

Didn't you know? Michael causes the women to fall so deeply in love with him and is so great in bed that a man like Chase just cannot compare. Sasha was so distraught over losing Michael that she became a drug addict and had a heart attack and nearly died after losing him. Willow is so distraught over not being able to bed Michael that she can barely even tolerate sitting at Chase's bedside while he's dying because she can't wait until she's free to run back into Michael's arms (sarcasm) ?.

I loved Chase with Willow back in the day, but think that nothing matched his chemistry with Janelle, whether or not she was evil. His leading man potential really showed up there.

Today, it is BLQ who had the strongest reaction to his dying, so I hope we have many more scenes with them.

However, it is Chase's by the book policing that really won me over. When he joined the show, he had every opportunity to fail, because we loved Nathan so much, but he developed a huge following from the start.

It is only his chasing Willow, who didn't reciprocate his feeling but was too childish to be open, that made him look weak. His dying is just sad.

If Chase lives, he could really regain that in spite of what the awful storyline is making people think right now.

Chase has a storyline so …

He is a lead and not a supporting character

Michael and Will seem to be supporting

Chase is getting the juicy drama

Michael and Willow don’t look good right now ?‍♀️

No, just because he's the one dying doesn't make it his storyline. This is Finn's story. Chase is the Mcguffin, not the lead.

Chase is not a lead. Chase is an obstacle that stands in the way of the leads/Michael's happiness.

I agree that Chase is a leading man in his own story, but Chase's story is a sub story to the Peter August storyline, which makes JS a supporting actor.
TPTB and the Emmy categories have rules for these things - which I do not understand - but it is their party, not mine.

I personally don’t see Michael as a lead character. I think they are both supporting characters in a front burner storyline.

Michael should be a leading man, though. He is a legacy character both from the Quartermaines and the Corinthos. I could go into why he is not, but it is not on topic, so I won't.

It's a soap opera. Very, very few romances are permanent. A lot of the drama on soap operas comes from couples breaking up and the individuals finding new pairings. It has been this way since the dawn of soap operas.

No, Chase's relationship with Willow didn't last. If they had had a happily-ever-after, they would have been moved to the back burner, where they would be joining Molly and TJ, a couple who have been allowed to be happy but are rarely seen. And when they are seen, it is in the furtherance of someone else's story, not their own.

Josh Swickard will get plenty of chances to flex his acting chops when Chase survives the toxin, learns that Willow doesn't love him, feels anger/resentment/tries to hold on to her anyway/comes to understand.

And then Chase will be free with a whole new romance with a new woman.

And who knows? Maybe Chase will be the Willow of the next storyline, i.e., the person who is sought by two suitors and must decide on one. Then posters will be fighting over whether Chase should be with Brook Lynn, Maxie or Amy (I'm just throwing these possibilities out there) or whether Chase is the bad guy because he is stringing the ladies along.

Chase as originally written would never string along "the ladies". Of course, Willow as originally written had a backbone and would have told Chase up front that they were over. So, who knows how the writers will continue to contort the characters to fit their plot-driven stories.

Chase doesn't need to be with Willow to be a lead. Michael can have Willow. Just give Chase a story that doesn't involve them. JS definitely has the acting chops and charisma to be a leading man. The writers just need to write him as one. I fear that the writers are going to have Chase react badly to the truth, when I really just want him to turn his back on Willow and Michael and lead his best life. I also don't want him rushed into a romance. Why not have him healthy and working with Dante to find the man who poisoned him? Or dealing with the fallout of a possible confession from Finn to Peter's murder after Chase recovers? Just move him far, far away from Michael and Willow. His propping duty should end with this terrible story.

All those story ideas sound great to me. I'd love to see Chase more involved in police work with Dante. I'm tired of what they've doing to him re Willow. It's like how they took Lucky and just made him awful the last time he was in town. I'd like to see Chase doing some investigating. Maybe he'll be more involved in his police work for a while and will stay away from romance for a bit.

Chase/JS is leading man material. I really hope TPTB doesn't sabotage, undermine, throw him under the bus to prop Michael. Aside from Nathan (and even Brando, he's growing on me), these guys are leading men material.

Michael is... (and this is no shade at CD), I mean, he's basic.

Yeah I agree. JS/Chase is leading man material. I'd like to see him back as a dynamic detective and involved in police stories. And I'd like to see him spend time with Finn and Violet. Just get him away from Michael and Willow. They're just basic.

I agree that Josh Swickard should be a leading man. He’s like a Lucky Spencer in fact. Chase’s a good-looking, funny, charming guy and he’s a police detective. He could have two female characters fighting over him in a triangle. He could be helping to solve cases like he did with the Janelle case. I loved his romance with Willow pre the whole save Wiley story. Now I just want Chase to be able to move on. Why do they have him so stuck on Willow?! She’s not that special really. ?‍♀️ I’d like to see him fall completely 100% OUT of love with her. So much so that he hates her for awhile until it becomes complete indifference to her. He should be falling in love with other women. She’s not even this great love of his because now she’s miserably pretending to be with him out of pity, obligation, duty and guilt. I want Chase to see all of this and just have absolutely nothing to do with Willow after he realizes how she’s lied to him and how badly she’s mistreated him. He deserves to be with someone who genuinely and sincerely loves him! I boycotted watching the fake wedding on Friday.

it doesn't say much about the writers. Josh Swickerd's lead potential is very clear.

I disagree, over the years they have not provided us enough storyline to even view him as a supporting character. This is the longest storyline that he has actually been viewed in.
