I don’t care about Nina’s daughter reveal. Why is that even considered sweeps material it is not exciting especially since it is Nelle. GH was doing so good then they came with this dog of a storyline they could have just continuing making Carly head of the family, exposed Peter, exploded the Chase paternity which is more interesting, explored the teenage triangle and brought on a new guy. Hell they could made Joss, Cameron and Trina a throuple and show how people in. Port Charles reacted . Bring back Jerry Jax or Lorenzo Alcazar as Cyrus boss and have a mob fight where both Nina and Peter are killed. They should have left the daughter as Sasha then Nina would have spice because she would be mad at Carly and Cyrus but noooo it is Nelle. They are going to rewrite Nelle to make people feel sorry for her . I sorry I just needed to rant

As is I like Nelle more than everyone currently on the show now except for
Franco/Liz/Valentin/Chase/Britt/Sasha and Jason is likable with Britt these days. Navas also there. So I love this as Nelle has won my heart
But I’m sorry if you don’t like this. ?
-
Minus Britt and Jason, I'm with you and would add Valentine, Alexis and Sam.
-
-
I have this love/hate thing with Nelle. But I love Chloe Lanier, the actress. So I’m happy with this reveal. It’s got so much drama it can provide. And Nina has a quite a process to work out with this discovery. So much sorrow, grief, regret, remorse and guilt to work through.

I don't think Nina or nelle are entertaining enough to center a sweeps story around. A woman finding out that the daughter she had hoped lived a good life ended up being a crazy killer who is dead herself should make for riveting story telling but it falls really flat for me. Nina to me is such a blah character and nelle is too much of a horror show. I do think it's a bit if a waste of timeShelly, Moderator

I agree with all of this. With two compelling characters, this could have been must-see TV. But Nelle has been dead for months, allegedly, and I find Nina as blah as you do. They've spent a lot of time on this story and dragged a lot of other characters into it (Jax, Carly, Valentin...) and it fell pretty flat. With so many other interesting characters in town, I wish they would cut their losses with this story and just end it.

I have no excitement over this entire story like I once hoped.

I agree as well. This has taken too long. The majority of people don't believe it is even true. I personally don't care. I lost interest in this story long long ago. I hope Nelle does not come back. She was awful to everybody. And if she were to come back she would only hurt Nina and use her. I see no need for that. Please let this go. It's over. Move on. Let Nina focus on her grandson now.

I like Nelle.
Also, they don't have to rewrite her to make her sympathetic, just explore her back story, show why and how she turned into the girl she is and show her changing over time, learning to trust, learning that not everyone will betray her, and eventually, becoming a different kind of person.
I'd certainly rather watch that than Carly's story of being horrible and just getting person after person to swear that she's not horrible, even though her behavior has not changed at all from the beginning, only her PR and wardrobe have.

YES!! This is what I want to know. What made her turn this way.

ALS13, Jason is an emotionless murderer. He kills for a living and enjoys his job, yet some people see him as a romantic lead.
I'll feel sympathy for the girl who was stolen as a baby and raised by the same jerk who raised Carly (who isn't exactly a nice person either).

Nelle was always intended to be Nina's daughter since the day she arrived in Port Charles! This is not a rewrite! Sasha was never intended to be her daughter that was a fakeout! The writers confirmed this you can check out their interview with Michael Fairman last month explaining this!

Aren't the writers we have now different from the writers who started this story? I'm not convinced that this was the deal from the start either. Stories change

I don't believe Nelle was originally intended to be Nina's daughter. When I read the interview with the writers stating this I called Bull. It was clear from the writer's foreshadowing that Willow was intended to be Nina's daughter. This idea may have been killed when they had to cut the Shiloh/Dawn of Day story short due the massive negative reaction to it. Well in any case, I approve of the switch because Nelle is a much more interesting character than Willow.

I don't believe Nelle was always going to be Nina's daughter too many writers have come & gone . She is going to be Ninas's daughter for now but the writers have changed history before so don't get used to it . This is a plot driven show not character driven

Nelle being Nina’s daughter makes no sense why let Nina search for her daughter all these years only to find out she is dead it makes no sense and Chloe Lanier who plays Nelle doesn’t want to stick around long term. If this was the plan from the beginning to make Nelle Nina’s daughter why didn’t they do it when Nelle first came on the show in 2016.Last edited by louisesnell96; January 31, 2021, 03:59 PM.

And why would they put Nelle in a position where when she turns up alive she goes straight to jail ?
-
-
Exactly what I was thinking as soon as Nelle turns up alive she will be straight back to Pentonville as she broke parole when she kidnapped Wiley and attacked Brook Lynn Laura Luke
-
-
-
Not about Nelle. About Wiley. Wiley is Nina's grandson IF Nelle is her daughter AND Jax & Carly kept it from Nina.

BettieCat you are absolutely correct! Because Carly does not want anyone to say anything good about Nelle to Wiley!? If she could erase her name from his existence and keep him from ever knowing that she was his biological mother she would absolutely do it in a heartbeat! Just like she tried to do with AJ and Michael!

I’m enjoying it and am looking forward to Nina putting all of the pieces together regarding Jax and Carly conspiring to keep the truth from her. Especially Jax, who fancied himself so much more honest than Valentin.

Somehow Nina’s child that we have heard about for 5-6 years has turned into a story about Carly not being charged in connection of that child’s death.
Carly didn’t keep quiet to spare Nina the knowledge her mud is a psycho but to simply protect herself.
All about Carly.

My issue with the Nina story is that in the end they ultimately have taken way too much time to really reveal things. I go back and forth on Nina but overall I think she's okay. I just feel like her ties to the show are so superficial that if she were to suddenly disappear from the canvas that it really wouldn't have that big of an impact. As such I can see why trying to build a sweeps around her doesn't really move some of the audience.
I guess that's why Carly's involvement is needed. Which is exactly why it was the right decision to make Nelle, Nina's daughter. I'll never get why some people want it to be Willow which would essentially create a story around a character that's loosely connected and one that's relatively new that's tied to no one. Whereas Carly for better or worse has a built in fanbase and people that love to hate her to generate some intrigue in what happens.

DallasGal - I definitely think the plan was for Willow to be Nina's daughter. There was way too much animosity btw those characters for it to mean nothing. I think most of us assumed Willow was her daughter. I remember when we learned MS was leaving, there were several posts saying they hoped the Willow reveal would happen w/MS before CW took over the role. I watched that last week hoping for it too, but we got nothing.
LuvIsLife - I would have been happy w/the Willow/Nina reveal when MS was in the role. I'm not a Nina fan. I really only liked her w/Franco. That said, she was so unnecessarily evil and awful to Willow that I really wanted her to learn that the girl she was so awful to was actually her daughter, and I longed to see Willow flat out reject her. If I could have things may way, MS would have played out the daughter reveal, and it would have been Willow.
Now, the canvas is different. Willow is a waste of time. It would make no sense for her to be the daughter. The only drama we can get from this story is Nelle being the daughter. For me, Nina had been on canvas long enough for the reveal to be meaningful back when MS was in the role, so that was never an issue for me.

@LuvisLife
I agree that the daughter needs to be Nelle from a dramatic standpoint. Nelle has had animosity with almost every character on the canvas. There’s a lot of drama to tell with her being Nina’s daughter. There would be zero story to tell if Willow were Nina’s daughter. It would be really boring!

@lala214
I forgot that back then when MS was playing Nina that there was talk of Willow being her daughter. Back then I didn’t like Nina because of how she treated Willow with the whole Charlotte bullying story. But now I really like Nina and I don’t like Willow anymore. So I’m good with how it turned out now. I liked MS as Nina but I didn’t like the direction the character took re Willow/Charlotte. But I like the direction they took CW’s Nina. And I like that Nelle is her daughter for dramatic purposes.

I am enjoying the Nina's daughter reveal. I also like Nelle and I am interested to see the reaction to Jax's betrayal. I don't care about Carly, she could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn't care. But, I look forward to Nina getting to know her grandson.
