Sonny loves all of his kids equally, but he's always had an extraordinarily close bond with Michael. It likely stems from having been the one he raised from a very young age as joint full custodial parent in the same home (rather than as part-time dad or with Morgan away at school). Being adopted myself, I love seeing how a father can love an adopted child just as much as if they were his biologically.

I can’t stand Sonny and feel like if he really loved Michael he wouldn’t of estranged him the Q’s And A.J. for so long...
But..I guess it Was also sweet that Sonny loved Michael just like his other bio children..I think Lily dying while pregnant by him was a very profound moment for the character. He was truly excited about being a dad.

Michael, Avery and Donna are ranked a tier above Dante and Kristina if the writers don't want to admit it or not but that is mostly because Dante grew up without him and Kristina wasn't in the house everyday with Sonny. If Morgan returns hell shoot to the top just becasue he was thought to be dead.

Michael had the advantage of being around the longest but I could see Avery taking the top spot if the show stays long enough for her to grow. Avery is likely going to be Mob Queen when Sonny's time is up.
