Does that mean Luke will be back in GH, as we all know, that it's usually the case...

Didn't Tony retire and he's been living in Amsterdam for the last several years? I don't know if he would be interested in coming back.

I hope not. The last few years on the show I grew to hate his character. He is not needed at all. There are enough people on the show who do not have enough to do so give them more airtime when the show returns i.e. Mac/Felicia, Robert, bring back Liesel if you are going to bring a character back.

I agree, no recast for Luke. There have been a few soap actors in history that just have made such an indelible mark on the character that it's impossible to imagine recasting anyone else in the role.
I can only speak for ABC soaps, as that's basically all I've ever really watched, but I'd say Tony Geary as Luke on GH (and to a lesser degree, Genie as Laura), Susan Lucci as Erica on AMC, and Jonathan Frid as Barnabas on Dark Shadows were absolutely irreplaceable and iconic.

They must have mentioned Dante a thousand times lately and showed him in many flashbacks, so if anyone is coming back I sure hope it is Dante and not Luke

Definitely not. Judging by his chat with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) the other day, i think he's content never coming back to the US or reprising Luke ever again LOL. He didn't even have a line on screen when he made a brief appearance when Jane (Tracy) retired.
I would imagine that...if the show returns (i really hope it does), Luke and Robert will meet up off screen, and Robert will return to share what happened on their adventures.

I really think he is content in retirement as noted above by the NLG interview.
That being said, it is really sad that we won't get to see the acting powerhouses of Geary, JJ, and Genie Francis (and the later addition of Rebecca Herbst) on screen together again. They brought some of the best acting the show has ever seen... together and separately. Not continuing that legacy with Lucky and Liz raising their kids together while Laura and Luke are grandparents (in their own separate ways) is a loss to daytime.
When Luke left and told Lucky, "My god I love you". You could tell that he was saying it to JJ. Their last scenes together were so beautiful. Tony has said in interviews he considers JJ his son. He helped him grow up and perfect his craft. His last scenes with Rebecca were absolutely beautiful and showed the history between Liz and Luke. Lastly, his letter to Laura with "Angel" being written on the envelope. His last moments with Lulu were heartwarming.
Ah. An end of an era. I miss watching characters and actors steeped in so much history with talent and love for one another. It is what makes soaps great. What a loss to daytime the Spencers are, but tis life.Last edited by mes349; May 22, 2020, 06:28 PM.

Thank you for your comment, I totally agree. I saw the NLG interview too and agree that Tony is very content. But I got the feeling from this interview and others I have read (post his leaving), that he would be open to a brief return if the story was right. I hope we get to see Tony on our GH screen again!

I think that if Luke agrees to help Robert they will be off on an adventure off-screen. But maybe the writers were setting it up so that Luke couldn't take part for some reason and Anna would go instead (giving FH her usual summer break, which now won't be needed).
What struck me was that Luke has no become so bizarre that his onetime best friend doesn't have his number. Robert has to ask for Ned to get it from Tracy, and Ned says that Luke is particular about who gets his number. Has Luke become even jerkier in Amsterdam?
For that matter, Robert didn't think about asking Lulu? Does Luke's daughter have a way of reaching him?

I had a feeling it was more about Robert and Olivia becoming confidants . With Brooklyn accusing her of having an affair and Ned walking in on see them hold hands I think it’s more about that even if it’s completely innocent. That said who knows how things will be rewritten with so much time to reconsider sl’s.
