What is it with michael & his child driving story as babies in PC?

Back in the day Michael's birth & existence was like the prince of Wales had come. Everyone fighting over the baby just to get a peak. Poor aj the perennial shows whipping boy is related to both michael & wiley they are like buried treasure while he was insignificant. Michael like no other baby ever changed the face of gh. Jason actually was obsessed with that baby , always in his arms * his own kids not at all* it brought on the destruction of the qs & and most of the veterans & propped up the holy trinity sonny carly & Jason to this day.
now michael the adult is a dud. One reason is he exists for carly to react to. This custody fight is not about michael & nelle it's about nelle vs carly ! Bizarre. I'm hoping some dude shows up & says nelle wiley is mine & we can be done with nelle Wiley & michael .

I don't know how anyone here could answer that. I would venture a guess that no one here has ever written for GH. The only thing anyone can do is guess. But, years ago, Michael became the reason for everything, including being Edward's great white hope of the Quartermaine Family. It's not really the same thing for Wiley at all in that way. For me, Wiley is not really the problem although Michael probably shouldn't have a kid yet, because he still hasn't found that "big love". They should have focused on that for Michael (and Kristina too as it happens) before giving him a baby. The biggest problem with the story is that Nelle was able to sleep with Michael and have a baby in the first place. That shouldn't have been able to happen because Nelle really ought to be Michael's big sister. That is where this whole Nelle/Carly thing took a wrong turn, that was the mistake. That mistake has led to this madness. If Nelle was Carly's daughter like she is supposed to be, like the story really called for, none of this would be happening. This is where the show erred, and big time.

Well yes on any story we can only guess. It just annoys me that all other babies go in the attic but michael & now his son ( I agree with u horrible mistake to make michael share a baby with nelle) are the maguffins that drive all story. Carly being this involved is creepy. Michael was only interesting when he hated carson bc he was forging an identity now he is there for carly to be involved and as usual cry on Jason's shoulder.
hearing nelle last month say to carly we are sisters & see u in court sis , since she has a child with her son. Michael isnt the focus of this story its nelle vs carly & over a really stupid backstory. That carly saw nelle so she as a 20 year old should have lived with 5 year old nelle even thought she met her adopted moms husband once?

Many of our characters were born in circumstances where their parents were not in a "great love"... Alexis, Sam, Jason, Carly, Michael, Avery, Kristina, Charlotte, TJ, Franco... That's no reason Michael shouldn't have custody of the son he loves. And if the custody is about Carly, that's not from Michael. The evil one is all about Carly. She's the one with the unhealthy attachment.

IMHO - Michael's birth. Edward Q had two legal children: Alan, a doctor, who could have cared less about ELQ, and Tracy, the daughter, who was an Edward mini-me. Women in business were looked down on by Edward. Tracy did everything to please her father. Tracy had two sons, even naming her first born for her dad. Ned did go into the business. For Edward it was not the same thing - he wanted an heir from the male line. AJ was disappointing to the Q family sadly, so Michael, the first great grandchild, was looked to as the salvation of the Q line by Edward.
How does Sonny and Jason figure into this: Sonny loves Michael because he is Carly's son. The Same for Jason, and Michael was his nephew. Jason was Michael's guardian from a young age - that care seems to humanize Jason and give him part of his Jason Q side back. Sonny did not want his adopted son in the "business" so he encouraged Michael to go with ELQ with his blessing. Sonny did not realize he was essentially creating a don-in-training, as we have seen that side of Michael emerge that is as ruthless and dominate as Sonny.
So yes, the Quartermaines do revolve around the second generation of Michael and Ned, with Michael being the focus.

It's too bad the q's didnt bother to fight fire with fire to get michael back from sonny before aj died & michael got shot. It's just so wierd michael is the son of the black sheep of the family a.j. jason stole that baby as his own than passed him off to sonny. Carly hated aj , which I think all happened when sean left. No offense to billy warlock but they hired a very short actor with dark hair & dark eyes to look inferior to the golden boy Malibu jason tall blonde blue eyed in comparison where sean looked so much like steve I see it in their profiles esp how much they look alike. So when Sean played the role he & sjb had major chemistry & is why they wound up having sex that created michael. If sean stayed I honestly think the plan was a triangle with carly aj & tony. It was on all the covers of the soap mags. If u watch carly & am scenes she was smitten with aj telling him how wonderful he was and good looking & a great catch. He left & they purposely cast an actor who was much older & not as hunky as sean. Also they made aj a total weasel. When they brought aj back carly even banged him.again. anyway things would have been very different if sean did not leave . I don't think jason would have entered the story as he & carly barely had scenes together after she started messing with robin when she got attacked to Jason after the sex with no names started getting more serious for her proving women at least need more than that they start to want the guy to care & want to form a bond.

Sonny admitted to sam when he thought she stole Kristina that " he took Michael from the qs bc he felt aj took his son from him when carly fell down the stairs " so michael always was some wierd prize. Wiley is in a similar category. Meanwhile b4 edward died he was excited about danny becoming the next chairman of the board.

It won't be soon but Wylie will be in the attic just like other kids I thought the show would never stop the Jake focus but it did.
It may take the death of Nelle.....

Well, Wylie will go into attic when the twins who play him start talking more and when the custody story is wrapped up.

But Michael isn't the only baby or child that drives a lot of stories in Port Charles. Jake has had a lot of story, from his birth to his first kidnapping to his "death" to his return from his second kidnapping to the Chimera project thingie. Charlotte was the macguffin in a lot of stories. There was a huge Avery custody brangle for a few years there and then the little actresses disappeared for quite a long time.

It's kind of a soap staple -- kids are born so there will be drama around their paternity, or the circumstances of their birth, etc. Then they go into the attic, they get SORAS'ed and trotted out for teen summer story lines, they go away and come back as legacy characters. It's the circle of soap life.

I don't know about that. Michael was the focus of the show from birth up until he was shot in the head, while he was in a coma and after he woke up. Sonny, and especially Carly and Jason, lived and breathed Michael. Even Sam babysat while Sonny was off chasing the newest woman in town and Carly was off chasing the latest pair of pants in town. Plus Michael was the one who gave Jason the go ahead to date Sam....well not date since they never dated...but the go ahead to like her. I think Wiley being font in center is for the long haul, or as long as the show lasts.

Michael is a child of 3 main families - Q's, Spencers, and Corinthos.

Jake, also, part of Spencers Webbers, Q's and son of Jason Morgan, a main character.

It makes sense to me that they would be a part of stories

Danny is a Jerome, davis. Cassadine, quartermaine. I hope he gets some more attention esp from his father.
Jake is not really a spencer in any way anymore

What is Michael's last name these days or Wiley 's . Michael legally changed when he was rightfully hating sonny for u know murdering his innocent father who had his hands up begging him not to shoot. God I hate that his slimy hands took ajs only child.

Because everything revolves around Sonny and Carly .He is Carly’s firstborn who Sonny took on as his own. Nobody else has this royalty status. The show has revolved around them for a long time. How bout we try something new to boost ratings.
